Shift Cycle. Nothing in this Labor Agreement shall be interpreted or otherwise be in derogation of the County’s authority to alter, modify, or otherwise change its shift cycle for law enforcement personnel so long as any modification is in accordance with state and/or federal law.
Shift Cycle. Employees are scheduled to work twenty (20) days on and eight (8) days off per shift cycle • Employees will work ten (10) hours per day • Each hour worked shall be compensated as per Schedule C (Work Schedules). Employer remittances for each Local Union’s respective Funds including: Education Trust Fund, Industry Service Fund, Canadian Training Funds, Political Action Funds and Local Union and International Training Funds, shall be paid based on straight time hours worked. Health & Welfare shall be paid based on all hours worked as straight time hours only. Pension and Group RSP shall be paid on hours earned. When ten or twelve hour shifts are worked, there shall be two breaks of one half hour each, one paid and one unpaid, approximately equally spaced in the shift. Statutory Holiday Pay is paid at 4.5% in lieu of (11) General Holidays on straight time hours worked. If an employee is required to work on one of these (11) General Holidays they shall be paid 1.5x their regular wages for all hours worked.

Shift CycleFollowing the signing of the collective agreement and within 20 days after the Employer has distributed the "34/22 shift cycles" the Union shall conduct a vote amongst the operating employees at each ATC facility to determine whether the employees at that facility prefer to work a "17/11 shift cycle" (paragraph 'a' below) or a "34/22 shift cycle" (paragraph 'b' below). The shift cycle selected shall be implemented in accordance with the pre-existing 56 day periods and with at least 15 calendar days notice, and shall be worked at that facility for the duration of the current collective agreement. Should the Union not select a shift cycle through this process, the existing shift cycle at that facility shall remain in place. Availability of controllers for overtime shall be the same in units which adopt the "34/22 shift cycle" as in unit on the "17/11 shift cycle" (65 days annually), even though this means that employees in the former units will not always enjoy two consecutive days of rest. There will be no gain or loss of pay or hours in transitioning to or from either of these shift cycles.
