Shift Work and Shift Differential. (a) Shift work for inside employees be instituted whenever, in the opinion of the department head concerned, such work is necessary. Where employees in classes of work for which salaries have been established on the basis of a normal week of daytime work are required to work on shifts, a pay differential shall be applied. Shift differential shall consist of sixty cents per hour and shall be payable for those hours of a regular shift so worked by an employee outside the exempt hours of work; provided, that if more than one-half of the hours of the regular shift so worked fall outside the exempt hours of work, the shift differential shall be applied to the hours worked in the entire regular shift. For the purpose of this Clause "exempt hours of work" means the hours of work defined in Clause standard work day and week, together with the hour preceding and the hour following such hours of work. That is, the normal hours of work are from h to h and therefore the exempt hours of work shall be those hours from h to Shift differential shall not apply to certain positions or classes as set out in schedule and additions thereto by mutual agreement of the parties hereto.

That is, the normal hours of work are from 08:30 h to 16:30 h and therefore the exempt hours of work shall be those hours from 07:30 h to 17:30 h. Shift differential shall not apply to certain positions or position classes as set out in Schedule "B" and additions thereto by mutual agreement of the parties hereto. The following provision shall apply in lieu of the above paragraphs 4.3.1 - 4.3.4 for employees working at the Burnaby Village Museum: Regular Full-Time, Temporary Full-Time and Regular Part-Time Clerical, Display Technician, Grounds Attendant and Janitorial employees shall be paid a shift differential of eighty-five cents (85¢) per hour and shall be payable for those hours of a regular shift worked by such employee outside the exempt hours of work, provided, however, that if more than one-half of the hours of the regular shift so worked fall outside the exempt hours of work, the shift differential shall be applied to the hours of work in the entire regular shift. For the purpose of this Clause 4.3.5, exempt hours of work would be 08:30 h to 18:00 h. No shift differential premium will be paid to Auxiliary Employees unless they are relieving Full-Time Employees on shifts that would otherwise carry such premiums.

Where this occurs, the following provisions will apply: Shift work shall not be implemented for a period of working days or less. If the working period is days or less, the appropriate premium rate will be paid for the minimum 3-day period. The Company will provide hours' (3 calendar days) posted notice of the commencement and termination of a shift. Failureto provide such notice will require a penalty payment of premium rates for all changed hours of work within the notice period. Such a placing on shift work shall not deprive an employee of total number of normal scheduled weekly hours. Revisionto the work schedule shall provide for a minimum of hours off between shifts. Failure to provide such time off will require the penalty payment for the first affected shift. Shift differentialshall apply to employees requiredto work on a schedule or a 2-shift schedule and shall not apply for overtime hours. Shift will be scheduled on a Monday to Friday basis.   • Shift Differentials A shift differential of thirty-five cents ($.35) per hour shall be paid for shifts starting between 2:00 p.m. and 9:59 p.m. for employees regularly assigned to such shifts. A shift differential of forty-five cents ($.45) per hour shall be paid for shifts starting between 10:00 p.m. and 3:00 a.m. for employees regularly assigned to such shifts. The differential provided herein shall be part of base pay for overtime pay and other purposes. Employees at the Maine State Prison who are regularly assigned to the 5:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. shift are to be paid a shift differential of forty-five cents ($.45) per hour. Employees of mental health and correctional facilities shall be eligible for the second shift differential when their shift begins between 12:00 noon and 4:59 p.m.

  • Shift Differential The shift differential for employees working on assigned shifts which begin before 6:00 A.M. or which end at or after 7:00 P.M. shall be sixty-five cents ($0.65) per hour for all hours worked on that shift. Such shift differential shall be in addition to the employee's regular rate of pay and shall be included in all payroll calculations, but shall not apply during periods of paid leave. Employees working the regular day schedule who are required to work overtime or who are called back to work for special projects shall not be eligible for the shift differential.

Shift work is work scheduled at least 24 hours prior to the commencement of the shift.
