Student Assistants Clause Samples
Student Assistants. The District will allocate a total of five thousand (5,000) hours of student assistance each semester to be calculated at the Student Help I rate of pay. The amount allocated for student assistance shall be distributed to each division by the College Load Review Committee in accordance with instructional objectives as provided in Section 6, and to Instructors by the Division Load Committees in accordance with the division objectives as provided in Section 8.
Student Assistants. The University will develop job descriptions for each type of student assistant position. In no event, will the job description contain more than 25% of the principal duties of a bargaining unit classification. The Bargaining Unit Chair or designate will review and approve all job descriptions prior to posting.
Student Assistants. 1. Students employed by the College shall be considered Student Assistants and shall be covered by the following provisions of the Collective Agreement only: Articles 1, 2, 3, 4, 7 (except 7.04), 12, 15, 16, 18, 23, and 28. Article 7.04 shall apply to Student Assistants in their capacity as employees but will not apply to the student's pursuit of education. Hours of work will be in accordance with the program requirements and overtime compensation as outlined in Article 14 shall apply to Student Assistants for time worked in excess of a seven-hour day. Student Assistants are subject to the membership provisions in Article 5 and the union dues provisions in Article 6.
2. Student Assistants covered by this Article shall be paid at the rate of Salary Band “S”.
3. The parties agree that individuals employed as Student Assistants will be considered Casual Employees and receive the appropriate benefits as per Article 3.08 (c).
Student Assistants. The University shall strive, during the life of this contract, to increase funding for student aides/undergraduate and graduate assistants.
Student Assistants. 1. Students employed by the College in positions that are separately and specifically funded by government, foundation, and partnership grants and who are performing jobs that do not meet the definition of "work projects" as outlined in
(A) shall be considered Student Assistants and shall be covered by the following provisions of the Collective Agreement only: Articles 1, 2, 3, 4, 7 (except 7.04),12,15,16,18, 23, and 28. Article 7.04 shall apply to Student Assistants in their capacity as employees but will not apply to the student's pursuit of education. Hours of work will be in accordance with the program requirements and overtime compensation as outlined in Article 14 shall apply to Student Assistants for time worked in excess of a seven-hour day. Student Assistants. Members shall not have their duties modified nor their hours of work changed or reduced due to the University using student assistants to perform Bargaining Unit work.

4. Student Assistants must meet the criteria established by the funding program.
Student Assistants. Student assistants, laboratory assistants, research assistants or any other student appointees to teaching or research positions shall not be members of the faculty. Such appointees may not be assigned to sole responsibility for a course or credit-granting activity, or for assigning student grades.
Student Assistants. A Student Assistant (SA) assists students with special needs one on one. Because the need for these positions varies with the needs of the particular student, the SA’s employment is contingent upon the student’s continued need. Student Assistants hired after July 1, 2007, will be subject to the following status:
1. When a student with an SA has reduced need for the SA, or no longer needs the SA, the SA will have reduced hours or the position will be eliminated.
2. The District will make every effort to reassign the SA to an open position, but to ensure continuity for students who rely on “their” SA, bumping based on seniority will not occur.
3. If no open position exists, the SA will be placed in a call-back pool for up to 24 months and will be given first opportunity to fill any vacant SA or vacant Special Education Assistant positions. This applies to employees who have completed the probationary period and are determined to be qualified for the position by the Director of Student Services. Failure to accept any position which is at least 80 percent equivalent to the employee’s prior annual salary will result in removal from the call-back pool.
Student Assistants. 15 For the purposes of calculating overage payment, Student Assistants shall not be 16 counted. All Student Assistants will be assigned only upon approval of the unit
