Summer School Assignment. Work normally and customarily performed by employees, required to be performed at times other than during the regular September-June academic year or the employee’s normal work year, shall be assigned to employees in the appropriate classification(s).
17.3.1 Any such assignment shall be made in order of hire date seniority within the classification. If the employee refuses the assignment, it shall be offered to other employees in the classification in descending order.
17.3.2 Such assignments shall receive, on a pro rata basis, no less than the compensation and benefits applicable to that classification during the regular academic year, but, in no case less than pro rata compensation and benefits he/she received prior to the summer assignment.
17.3.3 Pro rata, as used herein, shall be the relationship of hours assigned for summer as it bears to hours assigned during the regular academic year.
Summer School Assignment. 1. Information regarding summer school employment opportunities and application procedure shall be made available to all employees on the same date. Employees on professional improvement plans or rated overall as “emerging” on the summative evaluation are not eligible to apply to summer school.
2. Summer school opportunities will be posted. Summer school principals will hire according to the needs of students and building priorities.
3. All assignments will be based upon the qualifications required for the particular positions being staffed. In cases where requirements are met by a number of individuals, assignments will be rotated on an equitable basis.
Summer School Assignment. Notification shall be sent to instructors informing them of summer school or extended time dates and hours not later than May 1 of the current contract year. Notification of selection to teach summer school or extended time assignments shall be sent to instructors by June 1 of the current contract year.
Summer School Assignment. Employees applying for summer school assignments shall be selected on the basis of qualifications, needs and performance. Preference shall also be given to employees who applied for summer school the prior year and were not selected.
Summer School Assignment. Summer school assignments are for one summer school term only and all members are automatically released at the end of the term and must reapply for future summer school opportunities. All positions will be posted and the qualifications required shall be listed on the PVA. Participation in any summer teaching activity will be voluntary.
1. Members assigned to summer school duties shall be paid at their current per diem rate or appropriate portion thereof, depending on time on duty. However, effective July 1, any change in the per diem rate will be reflected on new or continuing contracts.
2. Regular Summer School vacancies shall be posted in the Human Resources Office and in all schools and shall list any special qualifications required. District candidates will be considered first. By consideration is meant that applicants are sought, their qualifications evaluated with respect to those required, and decisions made as a consequence of such evaluation. A minimum of three candidates will be interviewed if at least that number has applied. If no District candidate is hired, out-of-District candidates will be considered. Applicants will be notified of the status of their candidacy.
3. Summer service provided to Special Education students will be arranged by the Special Education Department.
Summer School Assignment. 1. Applications for summer-school assignments shall be submitted to the Director of Staffing no later than the date established by Human Resources. The applicant must have worked in the same or similar assignment during the preceding regular school year, and hold the appropriate Civil Service classification.
2. Priority for summer-school assignments shall be given to the incumbent employee who performed the assignment during the regular school year.
3. Should the incumbent employee be unavailable for summer-school assignment, applicants who meet special needs of the school will be given priority.
4. Employees who worked the previous summer will be given consideration after all other applicants.
5. If more than one applicant meets the requirements for priority set forth above, then seniority will be the determining factor.
6. Employees may also apply for and receive consideration for other summer employment.
7. No leave without pay shall be taken by the employee during the summer school assignment.
Summer School Assignment. A summer school assignment means an assignment to work between the end of one academic year and the commencement of another when a classified employee is not regularly assigned to work.
Summer School Assignment. Assignment of summer school classes will be on a rotational basis with priority given to contract and regular faculty. Each discipline will keep a rotation roster, with newly hired faculty placed at the bottom of the roster. The faculty member at the top of the roster will be given first opportunity. When that faculty member has taught a summer session, his/her name will then go to the bottom of the roster. If the faculty member at the top of the rotation roster declines a summer school opportunity, the next person is to be offered the class. The declining faculty member will then be placed at the bottom of the roster with the roster maintained by the division chair with concurrence by the area deans.
Summer School Assignment. District 214 teachers and teaching administrators will be given first preference for summer school assignments.
Summer School Assignment. Prior to the assignment of summer school hours, Adult Education teachers will be surveyed to determine their preferences for the summer term, including classes and hours taught. In assigning summer term teaching assignments, consideration will be given to each applicant's qualifications to teach a course, recency of experience, budget constraints and the needs of the program. Current Adult Education teachers will be given consideration over outside candidates. Adult Education teachers will be notified in writing of their assignments prior to the beginning of the summer term.
