Temporary Work Assignment a) The Call-In System shall be utilized prior to any Temporary Work Assignment with the following exceptions: i) Where a shift commences and immediate replacement is required, a temporary work assignment may be utilized to provide interim replacement until such time as replacement through the Call-In System can be completed, provided the employee is being called in for hours equal to or greater than the minimum report; or ii) Where the hours to be worked are less than the minimum report; or iii) Where no call-in list exists; or iv) Where mutually agreed otherwise. b) Where work is to be done, which under the terms of this Agreement does not require posting, assignments shall be made on the basis of seniority within the department provided the employee possesses the necessary qualifications required to fill the position and the ability to perform the work. Temporary Work Assignment. If an employee is assigned to perform the essential functions of a position of a higher rank or classification for a period of more than 14 calendar days, the employee shall be paid at the wage rate of the applicable rank or classification.
Temporary Work Assignment. 1. If the District determines that a site requires “temporary work”, the District will inform employees at that site of such work. 2. Employees working less than twelve (12) months and/or eight (8) hours daily may request any such work. 3. If an employee is interested in being considered for substitute or temporary work assignments, employees shall notify the Human Resource Department in writing of the specific jobs they wish to be considered for in which they are qualified/certified. (Revised April 2019) 4. Work assignments will be made by the site supervisor from among those qualified and shall normally be offered in descending order on a rotational basis. (Revised April 2019) 5. Temporary work shall be on a case by case basis, shall not exceed nor extend beyond one (1) school year and an employee shall not become permanent in this work. CSEA and the District shall both provide written authorization prior to any temporary assignment being implemented. 6. An employee whose current position does not qualify for health and welfare benefits shall not acquire nor increase benefits if selected for temporary work. Employees shall be eligible to receive prorated sick leave, vacation and holiday credit per Section C. above. 7. Because the need for this work is temporary and may be eliminated at any time by the District, layoff procedures shall not be applicable. 8. Should an employee’s current position and temporary work be at different work sites/locations, the employee shall not be paid for travel time or mileage. 9. It is agreed and understood that the uncertainty of financial resources warrants that the intent of this program is to provide District employees the opportunity to work additional hours, for a limited period of time, without affecting the District’s operations and current flexibility, or incurring increased costs.
Temporary Work Assignment. Subject to the prior approval of the Fire Chief, whenever a member is specifically assigned and designated by the Fire Chief to perform the duties of a Captain or Lieutenant in those instances where the Captain or Lieutenant is absent and unavailable to respond due to training, meetings or leave time, such member shall be paid at the Step A Lieutenant rate for hours actually worked in such capacity. A Lieutenant assigned to work in a Captain’s capacity shall be paid at the Step A Captain rate for hours actually worked in such capacity.

No bargaining unit member shall be denied the one hour to avoid the premium rate. B. Most senior qualified bargaining unit member shall be given first preference in making the temporary assignments. C. Temporary assignment will take precedence over temporary employment.

Temporary Work Assignment. An employee may not fill a position in a classification other than his own unless such employee can perform the work without assistance. If an employee performs work in a higher rated job, he/she will be paid Utility rate for the time worked in that classification. If a classified employee is rolled back to a lower rated job, he/she will be paid his/her classified rate for the entire shift.
Temporary Work Assignment. An employee, who replaces or fills in as an employee on a job of a higher classification, and such replacement or fill-in is not a part of his regular work, and who fills the job of a higher classification continuously for one (1) hour or more shall be paid at the minimum rate of the higher job classification. If an employee is temporarily assigned to a job of a lower classification, he shall continue to be paid his rate in his regular job classification for such temporary assignment.
Temporary Work Assignment. Employees assigned to fill higher level positions on a temporary basis shall be paid at the rate of pay of the minimum of the higher level position or shall receive an increase of $250.00 over his/her existing annual base salary, whichever is greater, after working in the higher level position for thirty (30) consecutive calendar days, or after working in the higher level position for any thirty (30) working days out of any sixty (60) consecutive calendar days.
