Termination of Seniority and Employment. An employee's seniority shall be terminated if the employee resigns or is discharged for just cause. An employee's seniority and employment shall be terminated automatically if the employee
A. fails to report to work within the prescribed time limits after leave of absence or layoff,
B. retires,
C. engages in gainful employment during a leave of absence (except a leave expressly granted for such purpose),
D. is absent for three (3) consecutive work days without approval of the University, which approval shall not be unreasonably withheld,
E. is laid off for the period of time as follows:
a. for employees with less than two (2) years of continuous service with the University eighteen (18) months,
b. for employees with more than two years but less than ten years continuous employment with the University twenty-four (24) months,
c. for employees with more than ten (10) years but less than twenty (20) years continuous employment with the University thirty (30) months,
d. for employees with more than twenty (20) years of continuous service with the University thirty-six (36) months.
Termination of Seniority and Employment. The seniority of a teacher shall be terminated, and the teacher’s employment deemed at an end, for any of the following reasons :
i) the teacher resigns or retires,
ii) the employment of the teacher is terminated for just and sufficient cause,
iii) the teacher is not recalled within the recall period provided for in this collective agreement, iv) the teacher, while on the recall list, twice refuses an equivalent time position for which the teacher is qualified,
Termination of Seniority and Employment. Employee employment and seniority shall both terminate when an employee:
a) voluntarily terminates his employment.
b) is discharged for cause and not re-instated.
c) who has been laid off shall retain but not accrue seniority. He shall be listed according to seniority after the date of layoff and remain on the seniority list for recall for a maximum of eighteen (18) months for all employees with five (5) years or more of service. For employees with less than five (5) years of service, they will remain on the seniority list for a period of time equal to their seniority to a maximum of twelve (12) months. If not recalled to work during the applicable period, the employee’s name shall be removed from the seniority list and his status as an employee terminated.
d) fails to report to the Company after being recalled from layoff within seven (7) calendar days of receipt of notice of recall in line with Article 13.04. Such notices to be sent by registered mail to the employee’s last known address with the Company.
e) fails to report for work after termination of leave of absence.
f) is absent for three (3) consecutive scheduled working days without notice to the Company, except when circumstances beyond the employee’s control make it impossible to give such notice.
Termination of Seniority and Employment. A faculty member’s seniority and employment in the bargaining unit may be terminated for any one (1) of the following reasons:

(c) retires, with or without a pension;
(d) fails to report for work after termination of leave of absence;
(e) uses a leave of absence for a purpose different from the purpose for which it was granted;
(f) is absent for three (3) consecutive scheduled working days without notifying the Company of such absence and without providing satisfactory reason to the Company, except when circumstances beyond the employee’s control make it impossible to give such notice;
(g) fails to report to the Company after being recalled from layoff within seven (7) calendar days of receipt of notice of recall in line with Article 13.04. Such notices to be sent by registered mail to the employee’s last known address with the Company.

a) An employee voluntarily terminates his employment.
b) An employee is discharged for cause and not re-instated.
c) An employee has been laid off for more than twenty-four (24) months.
d) An employee fails to report for work after termination of leave of absence.
e) An employee is absent for three (3) consecutive scheduled working days without notice to the Company, except when circumstances beyond the employee’s control make it impossible to give such notice..
f) An employee fails to report to the Company and does not show up at work after being recalled from layoff within fourteen (14) calendar days of receipt of notice of recall.
Termination of Seniority and Employment. A regular employee will lose all his seniority rights and his employment is deemed to be terminated where any of the following occurs:
Termination of Seniority and Employment. An Employee’s seniority and employment shall be terminated and all rights under the Agreement forfeited for the following reasons:
A. Discharge, quit, retirement or resignation.
B. Unauthorized absence of three (3) consecutive work days without notifying the Employer of the reason(s) for not reporting to work and requesting additional approved leave. In the event the Employee is unable to contact the Employer and a licensed physician attests to the fact that the Employee was not physically able to make contact with the Employer, exceptions may be made by the Employer.
C. If the Employee does not return to work when recalled from lay-off as set forth in the recall procedure.
D. A lay-off period of eighteen (18) months or for a period equal to the Employee’s seniority, whichever is less. The Employer will send written notification to the Employee’s last known address that seniority has been lost and the Employee’s employment has been terminated.
