TIME OFF FOR UNION ACTIVITY. Section 1 : Leave of absence without pay will be granted by the Employer to its employees to accept a position with the Union or with the International Union provided the Union shall give the Employer twelve (12) hours notice and provided no more than two (2) employees shall be given leave of absence at the same time for Union reasons during any one period of time. Any employee who takes a leave of absence as provided by this Article shall, in addition to his/her loss of pay, lose all benefits for the entire period of such leave of absence. During such leave of absence, the employee shall retain his/her seniority status. The employee's right to return to work for the Employer shall be contingent upon the Employer's existing rules and regulations, including the employee's physical capacity for performing the duties for which s/he was previously employed by the Employer. Officers of the Union on Committees of the Union shall have preference over all other members of the Union in securing leave of absence for business of the Union.

TIME OFF FOR UNION ACTIVITY. 19.1 Any employee elected by the Union to represent such Union at International, State or District meetings, and which requires his or her absence from duty, may be granted the necessary time off to attend such meetings without pay and without discrimination and without loss of seniority rights or any other rights granted by the Employer, provided such absence does not interfere with the services of the particular department.
TIME OFF FOR UNION ACTIVITY. 15.1 Any Employee elected by the Union to represent such Union at International, State or District meetings, and which requires his/her absence from duty, shall be granted reason- able time off to attend such meetings without pay and without discrimination and without loss of seniority rights or any other rights granted by the Employer. 15.2 Up to 4 employees elected by the Local to perform as negotiators shall be paid their regu- lar hourly pay for all hours of joint negotiations as well as travel time to such meetings. Employees elected by the Local will not be paid for pre-negotiating sessions. The Union will provide LARL management with the names of the members of its negotiating team two weeks prior to the initial joint meeting and give as much advance notice as possible of any changes during negotiations.

TIME OFF FOR UNION ACTIVITY. Local Union representatives shall be allowed time off for legitimate Union business such as State or area wide Union committee meetings, and State or International conventions, not to exceed five (5) days for each request. Such representative shall give four (4) shift days’ notice to his/her supervisor of such absence. The Employee shall utilize any accumulated time (holiday, vacation days) for said time off. Such time off shall not cause more than six (6) platoon personnel to be scheduled off, nor force changes in previously approved time off. Voluntary shift changes by the employees affected will be allowed. The Union President and Secretary-Treasurer will be allowed time not to exceed four (4) hours, to attend regularly scheduled monthly Union meetings, provided that the Shift Commander is advised of such meeting two (2) shift days in advance of such meetings. These employees shall be considered on duty and available for all emergency calls. Up to three (3) members of the Negotiating Team shall be allowed time off from duty without loss of pay for meetings which shall be mutually set by the Employer and the Union. The release from duty for such employees shall be one half (1/2) hour prior to the meeting and one (1) hour after the conclusion of the meetings.

  • Time Off for Union Business ‌ (a) Leave of absence without pay shall be granted upon request for the reasons set out below unless it would unduly interrupt the Employer's operations: (1) to an elected or appointed representative of the Union to attend conventions of the Union and bodies to which the Union is affiliated, to a maximum of 21 days per occurrence; (2) for elected or appointed representatives of the Union to attend to union business which requires them to leave their general work area; (3) for employees who are representatives of the Union on a bargaining committee. (b) Long-term leave of absence without pay shall be granted to employees designated by the Union to transact union business for specific periods of not less than 21 days unless this would unduly interrupt the operation of the department. Such requests shall be made in writing sufficiently in advance to minimize disruption of the department. Employees granted such leave of absence shall retain all rights and privileges accumulated prior to obtaining such leave. Seniority shall continue to accumulate during such leave and shall apply to such provisions as annual vacations, increments and promotions. (c) When leave of absence without pay is granted pursuant to Part (a) or (b), the leave shall be given with pay and the Union shall reimburse the Employer for salary and benefit costs, including travel time incurred, within 60 days of receipt of the invoice. It is understood that employees granted leave of absence pursuant to this clause shall receive their current rates of pay while on leave of absence. Leave of absence granted under this clause shall include sufficient travel time. The pay and benefits received by the employee and reimbursed by the Union under this article shall be based on the number of hours to which the Union indicates, in writing, the employee is entitled. This provision does not apply to employees on extended leaves of absence who are employed by the Union on a full-time basis. (d) Leave of absence with pay and without loss of seniority will be granted to an employee called to appear as a witness before an arbitration board, provided the dispute involved the Employer. On application, the Arbitration Board may determine summarily the amount of time required for the attendance of any witness. (e) The Union shall provide the Employer with reasonable notice to minimize disruption of the operation and shall make every reasonable effort to give a minimum of 14 days’ notice prior to the commencement of leave under (a) or (b) above. The Employer agrees that any of the above leaves of absence shall not be unreasonably withheld.

  • Union Activity Each employee shall have the right to join and while off work or on official release time, assist the Union freely, without fear of penalty or reprisal, and the Employer shall assure that each employee shall be protected in the exercise of such right.

  • No Discrimination for Union Activity The Employer and the Union agree that there shall be no discrimination, interference, restriction, or coercion exercised or practised with respect to any employee for reason of membership or activity in the Union.

  • Union Activities If the Contract Amount is $50,000 or more, no Judicial Council funds received under this Agreement will be used to assist, promote or deter union organizing during the term of this Agreement (including any extension or renewal term).
