Unit Member Work Year. 15.1.1 For the 2014-2015 school year, the unit member work year shall be 185 days effective July 1, 2014. The work year includes 180 student days, one (1) Professional Development Day and four
Unit Member Work Year. The basic work year (see Article 3, Section 6 for definition) shall be 180 (185) days for all Unit Members and shall begin on July 1 and end on June 30 of each year.
Unit Member Work Year. 15.1.1 The unit member work year shall be 186 days. The work year includes 180 student days, two (2) Professional Development Days and four (4) Teacher Work Days. The work year of 186 duty days represents 100% of the certificated salary schedule as presented in Appendix B.
15.1.2 The work year for certain unit members who may meet a special district need may be extended by mutual agreement between the individual and the district up to five (5) working days at either end of the regular work year with thirty
Unit Member Work Year. The work year for Unit Members will be 184 days (180 teaching, 4 in-service). The President of the Association shall, prior to January 15, consult with and make recommendations to the Superintendent in regard to any suggestions the Association might have in the development of a calendar for the following school year. These recommendations will be forwarded to the District Superintendent for consideration by the Chief School Officers in their calendar development process.
Unit Member Work Year. 7.1. The unit member work year shall consist of 186 work days commencing in the 2016-17 work year, including four professional development days and two duty days.
7.2. If the District decides to increase/reduce the number of duty days, it will notify the Association of the decision to increase/reduce the work year, and provide an opportunity for the Association to negotiate the impact of the change on mandatory subjects of bargaining, including calendar issues associated with the increase/reduction in the work year.
7.3. The Association and the District will agree upon the calendar for the next school year by February 15.
Unit Member Work Year. A. The number of duty days for members of the unit shall be one hundred eighty-five (185) days beginning with the 2013-2014 school year. The last duty day of the school year for unit members shall be the last day of instruction for students in the school year.
B. Prior to the first day of instruction, three (3) duty days shall be set aside for the purposes of District-sponsored orientation, faculty meetings, and room preparation. An equivalent of at least two (2) of these days shall be set aside for uninterrupted room preparation.
C. The work year shall include not more than two (2) professional growth days.
D. The number of duty days for preschool teachers shall be one hundred eighty-one (181) days.
E. The work calendar shall be determined by the District and shall be very closely aligned with the work calendar of the Sweetwater Union High School District. The term “very closely aligned” means that the instructional days shall be on the same dates, major breaks shall be on the same dates, and the starting and ending dates shall be within five (5) work days of the work calendar of the Sweetwater Union High School District. The District will give the Association an opportunity to provide input before taking final action on the work calendar.

15.1.2 The work year for certain unit members who may meet a special district need may be extended by mutual agreement between the individual and the district up to five (5) working days at either end of the regular work year with thirty (30) calendar days notice. The unit member shall be compensated at the appropriate per diem rate for each day served.
15.1.3 At the request of the site administrator, and with the approval of the unit member involved, a unit member may teach during his/her preparatory period. The unit member will be compensated for the equivalent of one period. At the secondary level the compensation will be 1/5 of the unit member's current salary. For purposes of compensation provided under this article, a full teaching assignment at the secondary level, is to include no more than five instructional periods per class cycle, not to include advisory as defined in 15.4.1.
Unit Member Work Year. Effective July 1, 2013, the unit member work year shall be 185 days. The work year shall include 180 student days. The beginning of each school year shall include: two teacher preparation days free from workshops, in-services, student/parent visits and other site or District meetings, and two work days devoted to professional development, site- based meetings, and collaboration team meetings. One parent conference day shall be scheduled in the fall. Any increase in the teacher work year shall be accompanied by a pro rata increase in annual compensation.
6.1.1 Three (3) early release days shall be designated as professional growth days for purposes of District wide professional growth.
6.1.2 There will be eight (8) consecutive minimum days located on the calendar for fall parent-teacher conferences.
6.1.3 All schools will implement an early release day which shall be the same throughout the District. Students will be dismissed one (1) hour earlier on the early release day. For the remaining days of the week students will attend the number of instructional minutes necessary to maintain the total number of instructional minutes as specified in Section 6.3.
Unit Member Work Year. 7-1-1 The regular work year for returning unit members shall be scheduled between the day after Labor Day and June 30.
7-1 2 The work year for experienced unit members shall be no more than 187 days, plus one additional summer day. The additional day will be scheduled at the mutual convenience of the principal and the unit member. This day shall be for the purpose of individual, grade level or department level meetings for analyzing student results and/or planning for the school year.
Unit Member Work Year. 6.1 The unit member work year shall be 182.5 workdays including 180.0 instructional days, and 2.5 professional days, with the exception of counselors whose work year shall be 192.5 workdays or the equivalent.
6.1.1 Within the 2.5 professional days, .5 day shall be allocated for the exclusive use of teacher classroom set up; and, .5 day shall be allocated for the exclusive use of teacher classroom closing.
6.2 For Teacher on Special Assignment, when mutually agreed by the TOSA and the supervisor, the work year calendar may be modified without the addition of any days beyond the contract year. Best practice would call for a written agreement regarding a modified calendar completed prior to the end of the work year, and intended for the coming year.
6.3 For the 2015-2016 school year the parties have agreed to a work year of 183.5 work days including one additional professional day as outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) dated January 20, 2015 (see appendix). Per the MOU the parties will meet prior to December 1, 2015 to consider the continuation of this additional day for future years.
