Regular classified unit members shall earn vacation at the hourly equivalent rate of five- sixths of the working day for each full month in which the unit member is in a paid status (maximum of 10 days per fiscal year or 80 hours per employment year), provided the unit member is regularly employed five days per week, seven to eight hours per day. A regular unit member in a paid status for less than seven to eight hours per day shall receive the same rate of vacation accrued; however, the rate of paid leave will be applied to the total hours employed. (Example; a unit member earns .03846 hours of vacation for each hour worked.) Regular unit members upon completion of one (1) year of employment with the District shall be granted a maximum of fifteen days or 120 hours per year. (The hourly equivalent rate for 15 days a year would be .05769 hours of vacation for each hour worked. This would be applied for unit members working less than seven to eight hours a day.) Vacation Calculation. The vacation pay shall be computed at straight hourly pay and shall be based on the number of working hours of the scheduled workweek of each employee.
a. An employee must work sixty-five (65%) percent of their scheduled working hours, exclusive of approved time off due to Workers’ Compensation or documented illness in order to receive any vacation benefits.

Vacation Calculation. For the purposes of calculating vacation time only vacation time shall be Monday through Friday. Saturday and Sunday will not be charged as vacation time. Employees be entitled to 5 days of vacation for each week of vacation earned. The effect of this change in the method of calculation shall not result in the loss of actual vacation time to which any individual is entitled. An employee will not be required to work on Sunday when he/she is scheduled to be on vacation beginning the following Monday. An employee will not be required to work on Saturday when he/she is on vacation the preceding Friday.

Vacation Calculation. 6.1 Computation of Vacation Pay: an employee's vacation pay for the current year will be reconciled after the end of the year and paid out by the end of January. It will be computed as a percentage of their "total wages earned" in the previous year, such "total wages earned" shall include the amount of vacation pay the employee received in the previous year. The vacation pay calculation under the Labour Agreement will take place after the completion of the Vacation Year based on the following rules:
6.2 The Vacation Year for vacation pay purposes and time off entitlements will commence with the beginning of the first pay period that is paid in the new calendar year. This is intended to comply with Revenue Canada remittances for the taxation year.
6.3 The Vacation Year for vacation pay purposes will end on the last day of the last pay period that is paid in the calendar year.
6.4 The vacation pay formula will apply as follows: Example based on calculation for the 2016 Vacation Year.
6.5 The Vacation Pay Makeup amount will be paid within three pay periods after completion of the Vacation Year.
6.6 In order to minimize the impact of Card Rate changes on the Vacation Pay Calculation the annual compensation review under the Labour Agreement will occur on the first day of the Vacation Year.
6.7 An employee who terminates prior to the completion of the vacation year, will be required to repay vacation time that has been taken but not earned. They will have the outstanding amount owing withheld from their final pay.
Section 7: Union Leave of Absence
7.1 Time on Leave of Absence for union business duly approved by the employer in writing shall be considered as uninterrupted service for the purpose of establishing vacation time off, during the year of their absence as well as in ensuing years.
7.2 Vacation pay will apply as follows:
7.2.1 For the period of the person's absence while in the employ of the Union, the Union will be responsible for payment of all vacation credits due to the employee.
7.2.2 On return to active regular employment, the employee shall receive vacation pay equal to the appropriate percentage of the total wages earned by the employee while actively employed by the Company during the vacation year.
7.2.3 Subsequent vacation pay will be paid on the basis that Company service was uninterrupted.
