Volunteer Teachers. 6.1 Voluntary participation in the Program will be viewed positively by the District and Association. Permanent classroom teachers or those teachers new to the district with three or more years of teaching experience are eligible to be “Volunteer Teachers.” 6.1.1 Eligible teachers may submit a proposal for assistance to the Panel which describes the target areas to be addressed in peer assistance and the scope of the requested assistance. The proposal shall be submitted to the Panel no later than September 30 of the school year and shall, if approved by the Panel, be effective for that school year. 6.1.2 Eligible teachers may submit a proposal for assistance throughout the school year if space is available in the program. 6.2 The Panel will review all volunteer proposals and select proposals consistent with the staffing and budget limitations of the Program. Teachers will be notified of the Panel’s decision in a timely manner. 6.3 Approved Volunteer Teachers will be assigned a Consulting Teacher, after consultation, by the Assistant Superintendent and the Association President. 6.4 The Consulting Teacher and Volunteer Teacher shall meet regularly to address the issues identified by the Volunteer Teacher. No records will be maintained by the District regarding the progress of a Volunteer Teacher. 6.5 The Consulting Teacher may meet privately with the school principal to discuss the Volunteer Teacher only with the prior approval of the Volunteer Teacher. The principal will not discuss or share with the Consulting Teacher specific formal or informal complaints about the Volunteer Teacher. 6.6 By the last Panel Meeting of the school year, the Consulting Teacher shall prepare a final report for the Panel to review. Any records kept, or reports generated from these records, relative to the Volunteer Teacher’s participation in the Program will be only for the purpose of assessing the impact of the Program, evaluating Program personnel, or for explaining to others the nature and extent of the assistance provided. Records based upon this data will make no reference by name to individuals who were or are voluntarily involved in the Program. 6.7 Voluntary Teachers may apply for participation in the Program in the spring of the preceding school year. 6.6.1 Upon approval by the Panel, early entry Voluntary Teachers may begin working with the Consulting Teacher at the beginning of the first week of the school year.

The JP shall review and determine whether to accept the applications and the nature and level of support to be offered for VTs. CTs shall maintain a log of assistance that shall be provided to the JP and VTs. The log shall not be placed in VTs’ personnel file unless requested by VTs. All communications between VTs and CTs shall be confidential.
Volunteer Teachers. 6B.9.1 Any permanent classroom teacher may volunteer to participate in the PAR program for the purpose of obtaining peer assistance to improve teaching performance. The Volunteer Teacher must volunteer by May 1 of the prior school year. The Volunteer Teacher must submit an application along with an initial draft of the goals that he/she would like to accomplish by participation in the program. A Volunteer Teacher may withdraw from the program at any time. 6B.9.2 The PAR panel will review the applications of all Volunteer Teachers and decline or accept participation in the program by majority vote no later than May 15. 6B.9.3 Any non-permanent teacher who is not a beginning teacher may volunteer to participate in the program. Assistance shall be provided at the level deemed appropriate by the PAR Panel. Assistance shall not be guaranteed inasmuch as permanent teachers are the program’s priority. 6B.9.4 The consulting teacher shall maintain a log of assistance that shall not include any evaluative comments. A copy of this log shall be provided to the PAR Panel and the volunteer. It shall not be placed in the volunteer’s personnel file unless the volunteer so requests. 6B.9.5 All communications between the Volunteer Teacher and the Consulting Teacher shall be confidential and shall not be shared without the written consent of the Volunteer Teacher. The Consulting Teacher shall not, without the written consent of the Volunteer Teacher, be called by the Association or District to testify, produce documents, or to participate in any way in any proceeding involving the teaching performance of the Volunteer Teacher if the subject of the inquiry is the teaching performance of the Volunteer Teacher during the period the Consulting Teacher assisted the Volunteer Teacher as a voluntary participant in PAR.

Probationary teachers are prohibited from accepting student teachers. B. It is expressly agreed that the Association may refuse to permit a bargaining unit member from supervising or directing the activities of a student teacher in the event: 1. The use of such student teacher would be used by the Employer as a basis for not hiring additional bargaining unit personnel. C. The Board shall disclose all terms of any agreement between it and any student placing institution. The terms and conditions of placement of student teachers shall be consistent with this agreement, unless otherwise agreed to by the Association. D. The supervising teacher shall have the right to accept an honorarium or other such token of appreciation as may be offered by the student/intern placing institution. E. Prior to acceptance of a student teacher, there shall be a meeting between the teacher, prospective student teacher, principal, president of the Association or an executive committee member of the Association. Following this interview, the teacher shall then have the right to accept or reject the student teacher. F. Any terms or conditions of this section not previously specified in this agreement shall be negotiated between the Board and the Association prior to implementation of future programs.

  • Volunteer Peer Assistants 1. Up to eight (8)

  • Volunteer Firefighting Leave Leave without pay will be granted when an employee who is a volunteer firefighter is called to duty to respond to a fire, natural disaster or medical emergency.

  • Volunteer Leave Subject to operational requirements as determined by the Employer and with an advance notice of at least five (5) working days, the employee shall be granted, in each fiscal year, a single period of up to seven decimal five (7.5) hours’ of leave with pay to work as a volunteer for a charitable or community organization or activity, other than for activities related to the Government of Canada Workplace Charitable Campaign. The leave will be scheduled at a time convenient both to the employee and the Employer. Nevertheless, the Employer shall make every reasonable effort to grant the leave at such a time as the employee may request.

  • Mentor Teachers A. A Mentor Teacher shall be defined as a Master Teacher as identified in Section 1526 of the School Code and shall perform the duties of a Master Teacher as specified in the School Code and State Administrative Rules and Regulations. B. Each bargaining unit member in his/her first three (3) years in the classroom shall be assigned one or more Mentor Teacher(s) by the Administration. The Mentor Teacher shall be available to provide professional support, instruction and guidance. The purpose of the mentor assignment is to provide a peer who can offer assistance, resources and information in a collegial fashion. C. A Mentor Teacher shall be assigned in accordance with the following: 1. Participation as a Mentor Teacher shall be voluntary. 2. The Mentor Teacher assignment shall be for one (1) academic year subject to review. The appointment may be renewed in succeeding academic years. 3. Should either the Mentor Teacher or the Mentee present cause to dissolve the relationship, the administration will meet with the Mentor Teacher and the Mentee to determine an appropriate course of action. D. Upon request, the Administration may provide release time so the Mentor may work with the Mentee in his/her assignment during the regular work day. E. Mentees who are new to the profession shall be provided with a minimum of fifteen (15) days of professional development instruction during their first three (3) years of classroom teaching. F. Performance responsibilities of a Mentor Teacher may include but not be limited to: Work to establish a relationship with Mentee based on mutual trust, respect and collegiality; provide encouragement, support, guidance and feedback when needed; help Mentee feel welcome; take part in training to enhance teaching and mentoring skills; complete periodic evaluations of Mentor-Mentee program, as requested; contact mentees, minimally once a week, for formal or informal meetings; help Mentee learn about resources, procedures, curriculum, students' needs, building and district policies, regulations and schedules; promote a smooth transition between teacher training and the actual classroom setting; facilitate three-way conferences involving the Mentor, Mentee and Principal; provide opportunities for Mentee to observe the Mentor and other teachers; share new and alternative materials, methods and resources with Mentee; observe Mentee's teaching in a classroom setting; conduct pre and post observation conferences; and assist Mentee with goal setting.

  • Traveling Teachers Traveling teachers are those who are not assigned a dedicated classroom of their own due to limited space. If traveling is necessary within a subject area, traveling status should be rotated. In order to facilitate optimum conditions for instruction, traveling teachers should, to the greatest extent practicable, be provided the following: 1. A quiet, secure space that contains a desk and filing space; 2. Storage space within the classrooms used for instruction; 3. A designated bulletin board and/or chalk or white board in the classrooms used for instruction; 4. An appropriate cart to transfer materials; 5. Supplies needed for instruction to the same extent as other teachers and those unique to traveling teachers.

  • New Teachers No new teachers shall be hired for a vacancy for which a teacher on unrequested leave is certified.
