WORK YEAR/SCHOOL CALENDAR. A. Workday 1. The standard workday for teachers shall be seven and one-half (7- 1/2) hours. 2. The workday for teachers in the building shall begin fifteen (15) minutes before the student day or a morning preparation period and shall end fifteen (15) minutes after the last regular student period or an afternoon preparation period. Teachers may be required to perform duties up to one-half of the fifteen (15) minutes before and/or after the student day or preparation period. No teachers shall be required to report prior to 8:00 a.m. or remain later than 4:00 p.m., except that the morning beginning time can be adjusted to 7:45 a.m. because of staggered bus schedules. For program reasons the afternoon ending time can be adjusted to 5:00 p.m. for a few teachers in a building providing that volunteers will be solicited whenever possible. The two above exceptions will not extend the number of hours in a teacher workday. 3. The teacher workday in high schools shall be seven and one-half (7- 1/2) hours. 4. In buildings other than high schools where the student day was less than six (6) hours, thirty (30) minutes during the 2009-2010 school year, it may not be increased more than fifteen (15) minutes a day in any one (1) year of this Agreement. The teacher workday in schools covered by this paragraph, including preparation periods, shall not exceed seven and one-half (7-1/2) hours a day. 5. The workday of a teacher who works in more than one (1) building or is assigned outside the District shall not exceed the workday specified in paragraphs 1 and 2 above and shall be covered by planning time and other provisions of this Article. An adequate amount of travel time shall be allowed for unit members who must change worksites during the workday. 6. All unit members who work two-thirds (2/3) or more shall have a minimum of thirty (30) continuous minutes of duty-free lunch. Passing time during which a unit member has direct responsibility for students shall not be part of the thirty (30) minutes duty-free lunch. Teachers who leave the school site during such period will notify the school office. 7. The workday for part-time unit members shall be stated as a percentage of full-time. The workday and work load shall generally be proportional to that of a full-time unit member. 8. Unit member workdays shall only be Monday through Friday. 9. WORK YEAR/SCHOOL CALENDAR. With DESE approval, NPS has adopted a school year with 170 days to allow for an additional ten (10) days of preparation, planning and professional development for staff. The first official day of school for students is September 16, 2020, and the last day of school for students is June 23, 2021 (inclusive of 5 snow days) and June 24, 2021 for staff.
WORK YEAR/SCHOOL CALENDAR. 5.1 Administrators have an obligation to perform the direct and implied duties of their position and each of them will expend such time and effort as is necessary to effectuate and achieve the goals and purposes of his/her position even if the time, which is required, is in excess of the normal school day for students or teachers. 5.2 Definition of the work year: a) A ten-month work year can be from 182 to 193 days. b) An eleven-month work year consists of 210 days. c) A twelve-month work year shall be 225 days, exclusive of weekends and holidays. It shall include the 180-day student year and eight days before students arrive, plus eight days after students depart, and twenty-nine days at the discretion of the Superintendent. d) Administrators will work the 180 days that students are present and the other required days, as approved by the Superintendent. 5.3 When requested, any Administrator covered by this Article shall submit to the Superintendent or his/her designee for approval, his/her schedule for workdays for the work year. It is agreed by the Parties that “modeling” of teaching techniques by Directors is an appropriate professional function of such Directors and that doing so is both permissible under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement and does not entitle the Director to any additional compensation under this Section or otherwise. Administrators must complete their work assignments during their assigned work year. The Superintendent may require a Director to work up to one (1) day in excess of his/her work year, in which case, the Superintendent will have the approval authority over the specific day to be worked and the director will be paid at his/her per diem rate. The High School Principal may require a Housemaster to work up to two (2) days in excess of his/her work year, in which case, the School Principal will have the approval authority over the specific day to be worked and the Housemaster will be paid at his/her per diem rate. A School Principal may require an Assistant Principal to work up to one (1) day in excess of his/her work year, in which case, the School Principal will have the approval authority over the specific day to be worked and the Assistant Principal will be paid at his/her per diem rate. WORK YEAR/SCHOOL CALENDARThe work year for Bargaining Unit Members shall be 189 days per year. One and one- half (1.5) days shall be guaranteed as classroom preparation days to be scheduled within the first teacher week of each school year. A period of time at the end of each marking period, to be mutually agreed upon by the District and CATA shall be set aside for Bargaining Unit work (lessons and room preparation, student assessment, student record keeping). The work year shall include dates when pupils are in attendance, in-service days, Act 80 days, orientation days and any such days which must be rescheduled. The intent of this provision is to define these days on which Bargaining Unit Member attendance is required. New Bargaining Unit Members may be required to attend up to two (2) additional days during the work year for orientation. Bargaining Unit Members who are so required to attend orientation days shall be paid for such days at their regular salary. Employees who voluntarily attend orientation days will not be paid by the school district. Any changes to the school calendar will be discussed with CATA during liaison, complying with the Meet-and- Discuss Provision of Act 195.

  • School Calendar The Dual Credit course schedule will be determined by the location of the course delivery, provided that the required contact hours and prerequisites are met. The instructional calendar for the high school portion of the School will be based on the School District calendar and comply with all related TEA regulations for school attendance. The School District will adjust its schedule as necessary to enable Students to enroll in and attend the college- level courses provided by College. The School District and College will coordinate the State Student assessment requirements to ensure said assessments are administered without penalty. The School District, School and College will ensure that the School calendar accounts for the required per-semester contact hours for courses. When the instructional delivery is on the College site, it may be necessary for Students to attend classes on days when the School District is closed (e.g., different holiday closures). When Students take classes at the College scheduled on days when School is closed, the School District will ensure that at least one staff member with administrative authority be on call and available to be reached by the College’s Office of High School Programs or other College staff in case of emergency. The designated School staff member will have access to Student emergency contact information. While the College agrees to make scheduling accommodations for required State assessments, including the STAAR and End of Course Exams, all contact hour requirements must be met. For assessments not mandated by the State, the College and School District will come to a mutual agreement on administration dates in order to appropriately manage disruptions of college courses and ensure contact hour requirements are met.

  • ALTERNATE SCHOOL CALENDAR 1. In this article, an alternative school calendar is a school calendar that differs from the standard school calendar as specified in Schedule 1 (Supplement) of the School Calendar Regulation 114/02. 2. When a school district intends to implement an alternate school calendar, written notification shall be provided to the local no later than forty (40) working days prior to its implementation. The employer and the local shall meet within five (5) working days following receipt of such notice to negotiate modifications to the provisions of the agreement that are directly or indirectly affected by the proposed change(s). The aforesaid modifications shall preserve, to the full legal extent possible, the original intent of the agreement. 3. The process outlined below in Article D.6.4 through Article D.

  • Work Year The full-time work year for all employees employed in EA and ECE job classes shall be a minimum of 194 work days to correspond with the school year calendar.

  • year The employee shall provide medical substantiation to support her request for pregnancy leave.
