Teacher Workday. 0201 The Board shall provide the Association notice of building schedules for the next school year prior to the end of each school year. If the Board or the administration propose any change in building schedules, the Board recognizes its duty to bargaining over any effects the schedule change may have on the terms and conditions of teachers' employment.
Teacher Workday. The established teacher workday will begin thirty (30) minutes before and end ten (10) minutes after the instructional day. On the last day of the school term, except in case of an emergency, the teacher workday will end no more than one and one-half (1 1/2) hours after the students are dismissed. In no case will the last day for teachers exceed the established teacher workday. Teachers will complete the end-of-year checkout process within four (4) business days of the last day of the school year unless other arrangements have been approved by the Superintendent. Teachers will also be required to attend the following without additional compensation:
1. One (1) faculty meeting per month of approximately one (1) hour in length to be held on the first Tuesday of the month.

Teacher Workday. A. The teacher workday shall be seven (7) hours and fifteen (15) minutes in length inclusive of lunch and conference period. The start of the teacher day will be 8:30
a. m. at the elementary buildings and 7:20 a.m. at the middle school and high school.
B. Teachers may be required to attend one (1) monthly building meeting for a maximum of sixty (60) minutes beyond the student day.
C. It is the expectation that affected teachers will attend Open House and/or evening programs appropriate to grade level/course of study unless notice is given five (5) calendar days in advance whenever possible. If five (5) days notice is not possible, notice must be given as soon as the teacher has knowledge that he/she will be unable to attend. It is the expectation that reasons for not attending such meetings will be legitimate and reasonable.
D. Building Advisory Committee (BAC) meetings for elementary buildings shall be voluntary. To provide for teacher input into the building level decision-making process, each building will have a Building Advisory Committee which meets with the principal on a regular basis. The purpose of the Committee will be to provide the principal with staff input prior to the finalizing of decisions which could have significant impact upon overall building operations, to provide a forum to discuss bargaining unit members’ concerns in the building and to develop constructive resolutions to problems. The members of the Committee will meet on mutually agreed dates and times.
Teacher Workday. The Board and Union mutually agree to review the daily schedule and teacher workday on an annual basis. The Board and Union must ratify any changes prior to becoming effective.
Teacher Workday. 4.1 The teacher's normal workday shall consist of eight hours.
4.2 Teachers in the Middle/Senior High (grades 6-12) will have a minimum of one preparation period each day for each full day of employment but not to exceed five different subject preparations in any one workday. Elementary teachers will have preparation periods during the time their students are attending music, physical education, library, art, or guidance classes. Special area teachers (art, music, physical education, guidance, library, special education, reading and math specialists) will have preparation time each day at least equal in length consecutively to the minimum amount of preparation time given to elementary teachers, if at all possible, determined by the Superintendent.
4.3 In-service meetings shall be scheduled within the teacher's workday. Allowance will be made for curriculum related items.
4.4 In January the superintendent or his designee will involve representatives who are approved by the association (maximum of three) in determining the school calendar. The school board will make the final determination of the school calendar.
4.5 LUNCH DUTY - Teachers that are assigned, by the administration, to supervise students while they eat lunch in the cafeteria will be entitled to their lunch without charge for that respective day.
4.6 OPEN HOUSE - All teachers are to participate in Open Houses and Orientations which are scheduled each year, but not to exceed two per year, outside the contracted days and hours. They may be scheduled prior to the start, but no more than ten (10) business days, of a school term.
Teacher Workday. A . 5 day for the introduction of freshmen to District 117. The .5 day will immediately precede the first full instructional day. Teachers will be dismissed at the end of the .5 day. Two late-in Mondays, per semester, teachers will be afforded discretionary classroom work time for an equivalent of .5 day. Discretionary classroom time will also be given on one of the institute days at the beginning of the school year.
Teacher Workday. A. Teachers are required to be in the building or at the job site a minimum of one-half (1/2) hour before classes begin and a minimum of one-half (1/2) hour after the normal student dismissal ending the instructional day in that building. Exceptions to this may be made by the immediate supervisor with the consensus of at least two-thirds (2/3s) of the entire teaching staff. The length of a given workday may be shortened by the immediate supervisor, provided however, that such shortening does not violate any state rules and regulations, or laws of the State of Idaho regarding the length of the instructional day.
B. When a required teaching/contracted assignment, other than extracurricular assignments, obligates an employee to extend his/her contract day beyond that in A (above), said employee shall be compensated at his/her regular rate of pay. One open house does not fall under this definition. An additional exception to this rule shall be the two (2) parent conference days at the end of the first quarter, for which employees shall be compensated with a non-workday. When necessary, substitutes shall be provided for teachers to attend IEP meetings during the instructional day when they can’t be scheduled during the contract day. All required meetings (excluding the two (2) parent conference days identified above) shall be scheduled during the employee’s regular workday. Regularly scheduled staff meetings shall be decided through a collaborative process at the building level. Special staff meetings may be called by the building administrator if the issue cannot wait until the next regularly scheduled meeting. If a staff meeting exceeds the preset length of time, compensatory time shall be scheduled within the next workweek. Significant alterations to the overall schedule of a building shall require a two-thirds (2/3s) vote of the entire teaching staff. If staffing levels drop to a point that makes it impossible to maintain the current schedule, options shall be developed utilizing a collaborative process that includes members of the Association. The building administrator shall present those options for a vote of the entire teaching staff.
C. Each employee shall be provided a daily duty-free lunch period of at least thirty (30) continuous minutes within the instructional day. Employees are not to be assigned extra duty during this duty-free lunch period.
D. A committee of administration and teachers at each building level shall set the schedule to allow time...
Teacher Workday. A. The length of the normal teacher workweek shall not exceed forty (40) hours. The workday shall include at least thirty (30) minutes of duty‐free lunch time. The location of the employees “workday” shall be defined as on district premises unless the employee has prior district approval for working off premises.
B. Each full‐time high school and middle school teacher shall, within the student contact day, receive one (1) uninterrupted class period for preparation. Preparation time and assigned work duty will be on a pro‐rated basis, according to FTE. Elementary teachers will be provided continuous thirty (30) minute preparation period during student contact time each normal workday. Teachers shall be required to attend no more than two (2) meetings (not including IEP meetings) per week that are held before or after the student contact day. The time between the end of the student contact day and the end of the workday shall be used by the teacher to carry out job related functions such as parent‐teacher conferences, faculty meetings, preparation and such other similar tasks as may be directed by their supervisor.
C. On Fridays and/or when returning for evening school‐related functions, the normal workday shall be one‐half (1/2) hour less.
D. All required extra duty beyond the regular teacher workday shall be compensated at the curricular hourly rate.
E. Teacher shall attend up to four (4) scheduled parent conference days per school year. If the conference day extends beyond eight (8) hours, another thirty (30) minute duty‐free meal break will be provided.
F. If a teacher believes he/she has an excessive workload, the teacher may bring the matter to the principal for resolution. If the resolution is not successful, the teacher may bring the matter to the attention of the superintendent, whose decision in the matter will be final and binding.
Teacher Workday. A. The school day shall include thirty (30) minutes duty free lunch daily for each full time teacher.
B. Each full time teacher shall have at least two hundred (200) minutes per week for instructional planning, evaluation, and conferences. Starting the 2015-2016 school year the building principals will make best efforts for teachers to have at least 30 uninterrupted consecutive minutes of planning time per day.
C. Each part time teacher shall have a percentage of two hundred (200) minutes per week for instructional planning, evaluation, and conferences as the percentage of a full school day which they work bears to a full day.
Teacher Workday. A. The work year for teachers shall consist of at least 1,358 hours each year, with student contact time of 1,161 hours for Grades K-6 and 1,222 hours for Grades 7-12. Teacher Workday Student Contact Time* Elementary Teachers 8:00 - 3:20 6 hrs. 25 min. Secondary Teachers 7:20 - 2:40 6 hrs. 45 min. *Not to exceed stated amounts. Included during the duty day for teachers will be a minimum of thirty (30) minutes duty-free lunch period. Elementary faculty members shall not be assigned recess duty.
B. Changes that may occur that may lessen the workday, due to a change in the length of periods or changes in bus scheduling, where applicable, will be the responsibility of the building administration with the approval of the Superintendent.
C. Elementary teachers shall have planning time of no less than 240 minutes per week (197 hours per year) during the contractual student contact time portion of the workday, provided that planning time for elementary teachers is individual, daily and consistent and will be provided in minimum increments of at least thirty (30) minutes. Secondary teachers in grades 7-12 shall have no less than 15 hours per month (136 per year). Teachers will have planning time divided reasonably throughout the school year with similar amounts on a weekly basis. All teachers shall be guaranteed a minimum of two (2) non-student contact time a.m. portions of the workday per week that shall be free of any administrative-directed duties.
D. Any changes that impact on increasing the workday will be done by mutual consent of the Board of Education and NLEA during the term of this Contract.
E. A committee of the BOE and the NLEA, with equal representation, agree to discuss in good faith, any changing needs for teachers to perform additional duties such as teaching additional courses outside the contracted workday.
