Workers’ Safety and Insurance. (a) It is understood that Teachers may utilize sick leave credits during the waiting period prior to being in receipt of Workers’ Safety and Insurance Benefits.
(b) Where a Teacher is absent due to sickness or accident and is in receipt of benefits from the Workers Safety and Insurance Board, the Teacher shall be allowed to make up the difference between the amount received and his/her regular net salary by way of using sick leave credits.
Workers’ Safety and Insurance. Board Supplement; an employee who is injured in the course of duty and received indemnity form the Worker’s Safety and Insurance Board shall be entitled to any difference between the amount of the award and the regular salary.
Workers’ Safety and Insurance. An employee who is absent from work as a result of an illness or injury sustained at work and who has been awaiting approval of a claim for Worker's Safety and Insurance for a period longer than one complete pay period may apply to the Hospital for payment equivalent to the lesser of the benefit she would receive from Workers' Safety and Insurance if her claim was approved, or the benefit to which she would be entitled under the short- term sick portion of the disability income plan. Payment will be provided only if the employee provides evidence of disability satisfactory to the Hospital and a written undertaking satisfactory to the Hospital that any payments will be refunded to the Hospital following final determination of the claim by The Workplace Safety and Insurance Board. If the claim for Workers' Safety and Insurance compensation is not approved, the monies paid as an advance will be applied towards the benefits to which the employee would be entitled under the short-term portion of the disability income plan. Any payment under this provision will continue for a maximum of fifteen (15) weeks.
Workers’ Safety and Insurance. (Applicable to Temp and PPT)
22.05.01 The Employer shall pay the premiums while the employee is on WSIA benefits for a period of up to two (2) years. All employees shall be covered under the terms and conditions of the Workers Safety and Insurance Act (WSIA).
22.05.02 All temporary employees shall be covered under the terms and conditions of the WSB legislation.
22.05.03 Eligible employees who are receiving WSIA benefits shall continue to receive transportation allowance as per Article 17.11.02 and the use of the gas cards to a maximum of eighteen (18) weeks.
Workers’ Safety and Insurance. 33.01 Where an employee is absent due to illness or injury, which is compensable by Workers Safety and Insurance (WSIB), the following shall apply:
(a) Effective the date of the Award, the Employer shall continue to pay its share of any and all health and welfare benefit plans for employees on paid Workers Safety and Insurance. It is understood that this obligation of the employer to pay the aforesaid benefit costs while on Workers Safety and Insurance shall continue only so long as the employment relationship continues between the Employer and employee.
(b) Subsequent to the period referred to in (a) above, benefit coverage may be continued by the employee, provided the employee pays the total cost of the premiums to the Employer for each monthly period during the absence;
(c) An employee will not be eligible for paid holidays, sick leave, uniform allowance, or any other benefits of this Agreement, except where specified otherwise, during any absence covered by Workers Safety and Insurance (WSIB);
(d) Provided that an employee returns to work within fifty-two (52) consecutive weeks of the date of illness or injury, time spent on Workers Safety and Insurance (WSIB) shall be considered as time worked for the purpose of calculating the current year's vacation entitlement under the terms of the Agreement.
33.02 In the event that an employee is unable to complete his shift because of a compensable accident, the Employer will pay the employee's wages for the balance of the shift.
33.03 In the case of an absence due to a compensable accident, where the anticipated length of such absence is four (4) months or more, the Employer will post notice of the vacancy in accordance with the job posting procedure Article 16 of this Agreement. Where the anticipated absence is less than four (4) months, the Employer may fill the position at its discretion.
33.04 The injured employee shall have a period of two (2) years from the date of the injury within which he shall preserve the seniority which he had accrued up to the time of the accident and within which he shall have the right to return to work upon the recommendation of the Workers Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) or the attending physician, which shall indicate to the Employer that the employee has the physical capability to perform his normal job.
33.05 If an employee returns to work after fifty-two (52) weeks following the commencement of the W.S.I.B. claim, but prior to the two (2) full years mentioned in Article ...
Workers’ Safety and Insurance. As at Closing any amounts payable by the Corporation under applicable worker's compensation legislation in the jurisdictions in which the Corporation carries on business shall have been paid or fully accrued.
