Missed Meal Breaks. (a) When a paramedic crew does not receive an entitled meal break prior to the respective periods, the paramedic crew shall notify the DC and complete a missed meal break form. They will be compensated one and a half (1.5) times their rate of pay for an additional thirty (30) minutes to their scheduled shift, in respect of each meal break which was missed during the shift. This shall be considered missed meal break compensation. For clarity, it is agreed that where missed meal break compensation is payable, late meal break compensation shall not be payable in respect of the same meal break.

(Applicable to part-time employees only) The normal or standard work day shall be seven and one-half hours per day and the normal or standard full-time work week shall be an average of thirty-seven and one-half (37%) hours per week except in those hospitals where agreements already provide a normal or standard work day of less than seven and one-half hours and a normal or standard full-time work week of less than thirty-seven and one-half hours. (Those Hospitals with the lesser required hours shall reflect in the salary rates a pro-rata lesser amount compared with salaries for other Hospitals based on the ratio that the standard or normal hours work at the Hospital concerned are to thirty-seven and one-half hours and shall appropriately reflect such hours in this article.) Part-time employees shall be entitled to overtime pay at the rate of time and one-half their regular straight time hourly rate for all hours worked in excess of the normal or standard work day or in excess of the normal or standard full-time work week. The length of time over which the hours of work per week are to be averaged shall be determined locally and shall be set out in the Provisions Appendix. It is understood and agreed that the employee shall work overtime when requested by the Employer. The hourly rate of pay for the purpose of computing overtime shall be arrived at by dividing the pay by seventy-five (75). Employees who are absent on approved paid during their scheduled work week shall, for the purpose of computing overtime pay, be considered as it they had worked their regular hours during such absence. When overtime is necessary, it is agreed that such work will be spread as evenly as possible among the members of the bargaining unit qualified to do the work required.
