Applicable to Full. Time Employees The collective agreements shall provide eleven (11) paid holidays with appropriate payment to all employees who have completed twenty (20) days worked with the employer, provided that he fulfils the conditions, if any, set out in the respective collective agreements. Applicable to Part-Time Employees The collective agreements shall list (11) holidays for purposes of payment for work performed on such holidays. Applicable to both Full-Time and Part-Time Employees. Effective April the collective agreements shall provide for twelve (12) paid holidays subject to the terms and conditions set out herein. (The following clause will appear in all collective agreements, replacing any provision related to Work on a Paid Holiday that existed in the Hospital's expiring collective agreement:)

Time Employees An employee required to work' on any of the designated holidays listed in the collective agreement shall be paid at the rate of time and one-half 1/21 his regular straight time rate of pay for all hours worked on such holiday, subject to Article In addition, he will receive a lieu day off with pay in the amount of his regular straight time hourly rate of pay times seven and one- half hours, except in those hospitals which have a standard work day of less than seven and one-half (7 hours in which case holiday pay will be based on the standard daily hours in that hospital. If a holiday is observed on an employee's scheduled day off or during his vacation period and provided further that he does not work for the Hospital on the said holiday he shall be granted an alternate day off with pay in lieu of the holiday at a time mutually agreed upon by the employee and his Department Head, provided that he complies with the requirements of Article An employee who is required to work on a holiday shall be paid holiday premium pay at one and one-half times his basic straight time hourly rate for all hours so worked and in addition provided that he qualifies, shall receive holiday pay or a day off in lieu with pay at the employee's option and as arranged in advance with the Department Head. Applicable to Full. Time Employees Employees shall be entitled, subject to the exigencies of patient care, to relief periods during the shift on the basis of fifteen 5) minutes for each half shift. Applicable to Part-Time Employees Employees shall be entitled, subject to the exigencies of patient care, to relief periods during the shift on the basis of fifteen minutes for each full half shift. Overtime shall be defined as being all hours worked in excess of the normal or standard work day, or in excess of the normal or standard work week. The overtime rate shall be one and one-half (1 1/21 times the regular straight time hourly rate of pay.

Where any of the above-mentioned holidays fall on a full-time employee's regularly scheduled day off, she will receive an additional regular day off lieu thereof at a mutually agreeable time within thirty (30) days immediately before or after the holiday or any other such time as may be mutually agreed with the Nurse Manager. It is understood that employees normally working extended shifts receives Holidays based on seven and one-half (7%)hours normal days. Time Employees only Where an employee's schedule changed by the Hospital w i t h less than twenty-four (24) hours notice, she shall receive time and one-half (1 of her regular straight time hourly rate for all hours worked on her next shift. Applicable to Regular Part-Time Employees Only Where a regular part-time employee's scheduled shift cancelled by the Hospital with less than twelve (12) hours notice, she shall receive time and one- half (1 of her regular straight time hourly rate for all hours worked on her next shift. First shift of the day to with the midnight shift, weekdays midnight Sunday to midnight Friday; weekends midnight Friday to midnight Sunday. An employee required to standby or remain available for call- back duty on other than regular scheduled hours shall be paid at the rate of two dollars and fifty cents ($2.50) per hour of standby time. Where such standby falls on any of the designated holidays listed in the collective agreement, the employee shall be paid at the rate of three dollars ($3.00) per hour of standby time. Hours worked for call-back shall be deducted from hours for which the employee receives standby pay. However, an employee shall be entitled to a minimum of five dollars ($5.00) for each eight hour period on standby even called back to work. Phlebotomist working at the Street site shall receive standby pay for all lunch hours.

(a) verified illness or accident which commenced within twenty-five (25) calendar days prior to the holiday;
(b) lay off for period of not exceeding seven (7) calendar days, inclusive of the holidays;
(c) leave of absence for a period not exceeding seven (7) calendar days inclusive of the holiday;
(d) vacation granted by the Employer
(e) the employee’s regular scheduled day off
(f) in compliance with the Employment Standards Act
