Advanced Education. An advanced education differential of one dollar ($1.00) per hour worked shall be added to the base pay of those Respiratory Therapists and Echocardiographers who have achieved a Bachelor of Arts or Science degree in a related field, applicable if not required per the job description. Diploma or transcripts must be received by Human Resources. Differential will begin the first day of the first pay period following receipt by HR.
Advanced Education. 13 5a. Certification Differential. Nurses who have obtained one or 14 more national certifications recognized by the Hospital as listed 15 below who remain eligible as described below will be paid a 16 differential of $2.00 per hour in recognition of their additional 17 training. Advanced Education. 1. Employees who possess an approved certificate from the State Fire Marshal Certification Programs of eighty hours or less shall receive an additional one-half percent (.5%) of base pay. FF1 and FF2 Certifications are excluded from the State Fire Marshal Certification Incentive.
2. Employees who possess a certificate from all other Certificate Programs shall receive an additional one-percent (1%) of base pay.
3. Employees who possess a Certificate commensurate with the knowledge and abilities of position held, from an accredited college shall receive an additional two and one-half percent (2.5%) of base pay.
4. Employees who possess one or more Associate Degrees shall receive a total of six percent (6%) of base pay for the degree(s). Multiple degrees will not result in more than 6%.
5. Employees who possess a Bachelor of Arts Degree, Bachelor of Science Degree or Bachelor of Vocational Degree from an accredited college or university shall receive seven and one half percent (7.5%) of base pay. All above certificates and degrees, 1 through 5, shall not exceed seven and one-half percent (7.5%) of base pay.
6. The maximum amount an employee may receive in educational incentives is five percent (5%) for the first three (3) years of employment in a classification that receives education incentives. After three (3) years, the maximum amount an employee may receive in educational incentives is seven and one-half percent (7.5%) of base pay.
7. Effective Date – Specialized educational incentives shall begin with the payroll next following the presentation to the Human Resources Officer of the evidence of having met the qualifications for such incentive. For an individual to earn the total allowable educational incentive, the individual must have registered, earned and obtained it through a nationally recognized institution of education that falls into the following agency:

The degree must have been obtained through a nationally recognized institution of education. The submittals must include a sealed official transcript from the accrediting college. Advanced Education. 22.1 If in the sole judgment of the Employer, it is in the Library's best interests, it may permit leave time without loss of pay for purposes of attending a class or classes directly relating to the employee's job, or which will further the employee's professional skills.
22.2 Any such request for leave time under the provisions of this Article shall be submitted to the Library Director, who will recommend approval or disapproval.
22.3 The Town will reimburse an employee's tuition for a course approved by the Director in advance. Courses approved will be those which directly relate to the employee's job, or which shall further the professional skills of the employee. Reimbursement may be in full or in part as determined by the Director on an equitable basis. The Employer agrees, furthermore, to establish and promulgate specific timelines for such applications, and for notice to applicants of the disposition of his or her application.

An employee with three (3) years regular continuous service in the District shall be considered for a leave of absence for the purpose of advancing his/her education in an accredited college or university. Such leave granted under this provision may be canceled upon failure of the employee to enroll and complete a full-time course of study for the time specified on leave.

Section 2. Payments due under this provision will be made by the first of November in the fiscal year following the attainment of such degrees.

It was agreed that classified employees would be charged tuition for Adult Education courses at the 86 following rates: 87 ● Courses for which the instructor is paid hourly = no charge/free to classified employees 88 o If the class meets minimum enrollment requirements and the inclusion of support 89 staff employee does not cause the enrollment to exceed the maximum enrollment 90 ● Classified staff receives a 100% discount on tuition for all classes, except for recreation and 91 fitness (50% discount) 92 ● Retired classified staff will continue to receive a 10% discount for all classes regardless of 93 how the instructor is paid 94 ● Exclusions: EMT courses and on-line courses offered through Adult Ed are excluded from 95 this policy. Classified staff must pay full price for such courses.
