Amount of Bereavement Leave. Employees are who actively employed will be allowed to take up to three (3) days of paid bereavement leave in the event of the death of an immediate family member so that the employee can make necessary arrangements, attend the funeral or memorial service, and engage in other business related to the deceased immediate family member. A request for additional unpaid time off of up to two (2) days to tend to the above necessary arrangements shall not be unreasonably denied. If an employee requires any additional time off to tend to the above necessary arrangements, the employee may request a personal leave of absence in accordance with Article 20 of the collective bargaining agreement. Bereavement leave will be paid for the number of hours the employee otherwise would have been scheduled to work at the employee’s regular wage rate.

Amount of Bereavement Leave a) A leave of up to four (4) workdays with pay will be granted due to the death of the employee’s spouse, domestic partner as recognized by the State of Illinois, civil union partner, child, parent, brother, sister, grandparent, grandchild, corresponding in-laws or any other relative living in the employee’s home. As it pertains to family or household members defined above, time taken by an employee as leave under this article is to grieve the loss of family or household members, prepare for and/or attend a funeral, and/or attend any other immediate post-death matters.

The number of hours worked, using the averaging herein shall be the number of hours paid.

  • Bereavement Leave (a) Upon the death of an employee's spouse, spouse to include same sex partner, child or stepchild, an employee shall be granted leave up to a maximum of five (5) continuous calendar days without loss of pay. One of the days of leave shall include the day of the funeral or equivalent service. Additional days off with or without pay may be granted by the Employer. Part-time employees will be credited with seniority and service for all such leave. In the event of a delayed interment or ceremony for reason of religion or other protected grounds under the Ontario Human Rights Code, an Employee may save one of the days identified above without loss of pay to attend the interment or ceremony.

  • Bereavement Leave With Pay For the purpose of this Article, immediate family is defined as father, mother (or alternatively step-father, step-mother or xxxxxx parent), brother, sister, spouse (including common-law partner residing with the employee), child (including child of common-law partner), step-child or xxxx of the employee, grandparent, grandchild, father-in-law, or mother-in-law, and any relative permanently residing in the employee’s household or with whom the employee permanently resides.
