Compensation for Jury Duty. All employees will receive pay during time actually lost from work due to jury duty. Employees will be excused from night shift assignments if they are scheduled for jury duty on the following day, or the current day. The term regular pay means full pay for regularly scheduled work, which the employee would have received had he/she not been called to jury service, including shift premium or schedule differentials that would have resulted from regularly scheduled work. All time spent on jury leave must be accounted for. If an employee is excused from jury service on a normal workday, he/she is expected to report for work. Employees must account to their Departments for any time off for illness or other reasons, while on jury duty. Upon completion of jury service, the employee shall submit to the City Treasurer's Office the warrant for jury fees and mileage. The City Treasurer's Office shall cash the warrant and return to the employee that portion of the warrant covering mileage, and jury fees representing jury service performed by the City employee on his/her regular day off. Compensation for Jury Duty. Employees requested to appear for jury qualifications or service shall receive their pay from the Employer for such time lost as a result of such appearance or service, less any compensation received for such jury service. Proof of attendance issued by the court is required. This provision will not apply to witness duty in a case against the Company or it’s customers.
Compensation for Jury Duty. 1. An employee of the City who is required to participate as a juror or required to participate in the jury selection process, shall be paid up to and including fifteen (15) working days of salary and benefits during each fiscal year while engaged in such activities. Any employee called to serve as a juror shall receive his/her regular compensation while on such leave, provided that the employee remits to the City any payments or fees received as a juror, except for mileage reimbursement. Employee shall provide from the courts certification of the amount of time served on jury duty each day for which jury duty leave with pay is requested. Employees shall return to their regular job assignment after being released from jury duty provided the employee can work at least one-half (1/2) of their shift.
2. Compensation shall extend beyond fifteen (15) working days only upon provision to the City of a certified court document showing that trial counsel and/or the Court estimated the trial for which an employee has been selected as juror, to be a fifteen (15) or more working days in duration.
3. This Section is not to be interpreted as requiring an employee to work and/or serve as a juror for more than the regularly scheduled work hours in any twenty-four (24) hour period.
4. The employee shall advise the Human Resources/Risk Management Director upon receiving a court order to appear beyond the initial fifteen
Compensation for Jury Duty. The County encourages employees to participate in their civic responsibilities such as jury duty. If an employee receives a summons for jury duty he/she shall advise his/her direct supervisor as soon as possible but no later than five (5) business days prior to the scheduled appearance date unless the summons is received less than five (5) business days prior to the appearance. The direct supervisor will assess the effect of the absence on the department's workload and goals. If the supervisor determines that the absence would have an adverse effect on the department, this fact will be documented. Court officials may then be requested by the County to grant a deferral of jury duty until the absence would be more favorable to the department.
Compensation for Jury Duty. Compensation received for jury duty will be resolved in the following manner:
a. Pay shall be limited to compensation for court and travel time which occurred during the employee's regularly scheduled hours of work. Jury duty leave shall not result in payment of overtime, nor shall jury duty time be considered as hours worked for purposes of determining eligibility for overtime.
b. Upon completion of jury duty, employees will retain any compensation received from the court or other party to the City Clerk's Office immediately upon receipt. Reimbursements received for out-of-pocket expenses such as meals, mileage and lodging may be kept by employees, will also be retained by the employee unless the CITY has reimbursed the employee for such expenses or the expenses were paid for the employee by the CITY.
Compensation for Jury Duty. A. Regular or probationary employees required to report for jury duty shall be granted leave of absence for such purpose, upon presentation of a jury notice to the department head. Said employees shall receive full payment for the time served on jury duty, provided the employee remits any fees received for such jury service, excluding payment for mileage, to the Finance Department. Compensation for mileage, subsistence or similar auxiliary allowances shall not be considered as a fee and shall be retained by the employee.
B. If the sum of the employee's jury duty responsibilities is less than a full work day, the employee shall contact his supervisor as to the feasibility of returning to work that day.
C. The employee shall not receive regular pay for work and pay for jury service which shall be in excess of 8 hours pay in any one day.
Compensation for Jury Duty. In the event that any employee covered by this agreement is called to perform jury services, the City will pay for working time lost. Payment will be the difference between the jury pay and applicable number of hours in the employee's standard work day, times the employee's base hourly rate, for each day of jury duty.
Compensation for Jury Duty. The District shall pay the bargaining unit 35 member the difference, if any, between the bargaining unit member’s regular rate of pay and the 36 amount received by the bargaining unit member for jury duty, less meals, travel, and parking 37 allowances.
Compensation for Jury Duty. (a) Full Time employees who are called for jury duty shall be compensated for a maximum of one day's pay for each day spent in Jury Duty. In the event an employee is subpoenaed regarding Company matters, the employee will be compensated at his/her regular rate of pay, unless compensated for an equal amount from any other source.
(b) Part time employees shall be paid on the following pro-rata basis: The number of hours paid on Jury Duty as set out above shall be calculated by taking the total number of hours worked in the previous four (4) weeks divided by the number of days worked in the previous four (4) weeks. The number of hours worked, using the averaging formula herein shall be the number of hours paid.
