Assistance for Control and Discipline of Students. The Employer shall support and assist bargaining unit members with respect to the maintenance of control and discipline of students in accordance with Section 24-24 of the School Code.

The Board acknowledges that it is the responsibility of Administration to support Employees with respect to the maintenance of control and discipline of students.

When appropriate any employee may seek the support and assistance of the administration with respect to the maintenance of control and discipline of students in the employee’s assigned work area. Communication devices will be available to aides. Every effort will be made to maintain the communication equipment in working order.

Communication devices will be available to aides on recess duty. Personal cell phones will not be expected to be used on recess duty. Every effort will be made to maintain the communication equipment in working order. If working equipment is not available another aide or adult will be provided to assist on the playground.
Assistance for Control and Discipline of Students. A. At the request of any Employee, the Employer may provide support and assistance to the Employee with respect to the maintenance of control and discipline of students in the Employee’s assigned work area.
B. Employees may use such reasonable physical force with a student as is necessary to protect themselves, a fellow Employee, any other District Employee, Teacher, Administrator, or another student from attack, physical abuse or injury, or to prevent damage to District property. Any Employee whose presence is necessary at a student hearing shall be released from duty with no loss of pay or benefits.
Assistance for Control and Discipline of Students. All ESP shall bring matters of student misconduct to the attention of the Principal or Xxxx of Students. The Administration shall support proper action by any ESP regarding student discipline including ESP who have been assigned the duty to maintain student discipline in the absence of certificated employees.
Assistance for Control and Discipline of Students. The Board recognizes that the teacher has the primary responsibility for the maintenance of discipline within their classroom. The Board and the administration also recognize their responsibility to give all reasonable support and assistance to the teacher with respect to the maintenance of control and discipline.
1. A teacher may recommend excluding a pupil from the class, when in the opinion of the teacher, the persistence of the behavior or disruptive effect of any violation makes the continued presence of the pupil in the classroom intolerable.
2. When a pupil is recommended for exclusion by a teacher, the student shall be sent from the classroom to the building principal or designee.
3. The building principal or designee shall take appropriate action to solve the discipline problem. Should the decision include the re-admittance of the pupil to class, the teacher shall be notified in writing upon return of the student to class as to the conditions under which re-admittance is granted.
4. If the disobedience or misconduct continues or the conditions for re-admittance are not met by the pupil, the teacher may recommend that the pupil be permanently excluded from that class. Procedures for suspension and expulsion of students from school shall be in accordance with the existing Board policy. A written statement by the Board prohibiting corporal punishment of pupils shall be distributed to all teachers no later than the first week of each school term. If a teacher has one or more pupils who present serious behavioral or chronic problems in class,
1. The teacher will schedule a meeting with the appropriate building administrator to discuss the concerns. An Association representative can be invited to this meeting.
2. The teacher will discuss with the building administrator student behaviors and the classroom management strategies, such as those suggested by the building PST/TAT, that the teacher has attempted in the classroom to modify the student’s behavior.
3. Through a discussion with the building administrator, the administrator and teacher will develop options and strategies in order to address future student disciplinary concerns.
Assistance for Control and Discipline of Students. If a driver refers a student or students to a building administrator for disciplinary reasons, said driver shall be furnished, within two school days, with the proposed course of action or the outcome of such action that is taken to resolve the disciplinary problem(s). The employer shall support and assist Bargaining Unit members with respect to the maintenance of control and discipline of students in the Bargaining Unit member's assigned work areas. In appropriate circumstances, this may include the removal of the offending students from the bus. The Association reserves the right to support the employee and pursue legal action should the employee suffer injury or loss of income from assault by a student. When an employee suffers damage to or loss of personal property as a result of an assault on the job, the District shall agree to submit and process claims to the District's liability insurance carrier. The District will explore the use of bus aides, where available, for buses dedicated to special needs children. Association requests for aides for buses dedicated only to special needs students will be reviewed by the Director of Transportation or Assistant Director of Transportation or Transportation Manager prior to submitting a recommendation to the Superintendent.
Assistance for Control and Discipline of Students. A. The District shall support and assist employees with respect to the control and discipline of students employee(s) encounter while performing job duties. Employees shall immediately report cases of inappropriate behavior or assaults in connection with their employment to their immediate supervisor, who shall promptly report the incident to the appropriate authorities or school personnel.
B. APS-TMC shall provide guidance on “when” and “how” to address students who violate the standard of conduct on buses.
