Benefits for Temporary Employees. (a) Temporary employees appointed for a minimum of three (3) months on a regular weekly basis of half-time or more are eligible to apply for coverage under the Extended Health Benefits Plan (EHB) on the same cost sharing basis as regular employees.
(b) A payment in lieu of dental, group life and pension benefits will be made to Temporary employees in the following circumstances:
(i) Temporary employees appointed to positions of half-time or more for greater than seven (7) months, by mutual agreement of the parties under Article 1.03, will receive a monthly payment in lieu of dental, group life and pension benefits from the date of hire and will continue to receive the payment for the duration of the temporary appointment.
(ii) Temporary employees extended in appointed positions of half-time or more beyond seven (7) months, by mutual agreement of the parties under Article 1.03, will receive a retroactive payment in lieu of dental, group life and pension benefits for the initial seven (7) month period. Thereafter, they will continue to receive a monthly payment in lieu of these benefits for the duration of the temporary appointment.
(iii) This payment referred to above will be the percentage of the employee’s base earnings which is equivalent to the University’s average percentage contribution to the cost of dental, group life and pension plans calculated annually.
(a) For further information about the Staff Pension Plan and other Benefits described in this Article, reference should be made to the Benefits Information Handbook available from the Human Resources Department.
(b) Retiring employees should contact the Human Resources Department for information concerning benefit plans which may be available to them, at their own expense, directly from one (1) or more insurance carriers.
Benefits for Temporary Employees. The terms of this Agreement shall apply to employees hired in accordance with the terms of this Agreement except for:
(a) Paid holidays, other than those covered by
(b) Sick Leave;
(c) Group Life Insurance;
(d) Discharge;
(e) Extended Health Care;
(f) Dental;
(g) Semi-private Coverage;
(h) Bereavement Leave;
Benefits for Temporary Employees. (b) A payment in lieu of dental, group life and pension benefits will be made to Temporary employees in the following circumstances:

Benefits for Temporary Employees. Notwithstanding Article 30.1.1 and Article 40.1 of the Collective Agreement, the City and the Union agree as follows:
Benefits for Temporary Employees. To be eligible to participate in the Strathcona County Employee Benefit plans, Temporary Employees must meet the following conditions:
(a) All Temporary Employees who have been employed for twelve (12) consecutive or more, shall receive the same benefits as Regular Employees.
(b) An exception to the above shall be made for Temporary Employees replacing Regular Employees on long term disability. A Temporary Employee in this situation will be eligible for benefits after six (6) consecutive months of employment.

The Corporation agrees to assume one hundred per cent (100%) of the premium cost after three (3) consecutive months of service. It is agreed the terms of this Agreement satisfy the requirements relating to the employees’ portion of the rebate payable for Unemployment Insurance Premium Reduction.
Benefits for Temporary Employees. (Effective September 1, 2006)
i) Casual employees who obtain a temporary position will receive a per diem allowance in lieu of benefits commencing three months after the start of the assignment and continuing for the duration of the temporary assignment. The allowance will be added to the daily rate.
ii) A temporary employee in a temporary position who qualified for the benefit allowance for that assignment (15.01a), and who continues in a different temporary assignment will continue to receive a per diem allowance in lieu of benefits provided there was no break in service exceeding ten (10) school days between the two temporary assignments.
iii) The per diem allowance will be set each September based on the monthly cost of the extended health and dental benefit premiums of the ESSU employee group as follows: (90 % of monthly premiums for family coverage X 12 months/260 days)
