CANCELLATION OF SCHOOL. School may be closed during periods of inclement weather. Early morning announcements of closing will be made over local radio and television stations. Tune your radio dial to WTCH (960 AM), WRVM (102.7 FM), WOCO (107.1 FM, 1260 AM), and WIXX (101 FM) for any weather closing information. Suring Public School District will also have this information on WLUK (channel 11), WBAY (channel 2) WGBA (channel 26), and WFRV (channel 5). If a storm occurs during the day, forcing an early dismissal, announcements will be made over these same stations. Please do not call school during these times, since the lines need to be kept open for emergency purposes. If a parent has a need to call the school during an early dismissal, someone will be available in the school office until the buses have finished their routes. On some mornings it may be necessary to delay sending the buses out. If this should happen, an announcement would be made over the above named radio and television stations. In addition to the above, Suring School District will use the Skylert software that notifies parents/guardians by phone or e-mail as needed.

Official representatives of the school district shall call the radio stations and the TV stations and shall make every reasonable attempt to notify the staff through the radio and/or TV media.

CANCELLATION OF SCHOOL. 13 In the event of an emergency resulting in the cancellation of school prior to the start of 14 the unit member’s regular workday, unit members must be notified at least one (1) hour prior 15 to the start of their assignment, if possible. If a unit member is not notified and reports for 16 his/her assignment he or she shall be compensated for one (1) hour's pay at the contract hourly 17 rate provided he or she signs in and obtains the site administrator's signature. Any unit member 18 required by the site administrator to stay more than one (1) hour shall be paid an hourly rate 19 based upon per diem pay for the second hour through the end of the contract day. 20
CANCELLATION OF SCHOOL. When school is canceled due to weather conditions or other emergencies, an announcement will be made on the Oak Bluffs School website, and various TV channels. Parents/guardians will also be notified by text message and/or robocall to the phone number provided by the parents upon enrollment. Parents/guardians need to opt-in to receive text messages by texting “Y” or “Yes” to 67587.

That same number of days shall be extended beyond the last scheduled school day.
