Caretakers a) Change in Square Footage In the event of addition or deletion of square footage at a school, the Employer shall provide thirty (30) day’s notice to the caretaker and the Union of such change. The adjustment in compensation shall take effect as of the date on which the change is effective.
b) Increase in Square Footage When more than one part time position exists within a school, the Employer shall:
a) where the percentage of employment is equal, offer the right of first refusal for an increase in contract to the caretaker with the greatest seniority; or
b) where the employment percentage and seniority are equal, allocate additional area equally among the part-time caretakers.
Caretakers. Full time caretakers shall work eight (8) hours per day and part-time caretakers shall be pro-rated accordingly. Up to 20% of the total caretaker hour allocation for each school may be averaged by the caretaker(s) in order to meet the needs of the school for services required outside of normal school hours. The remaining hours, being at least 80% of the total, shall be scheduled by the immediate supervisor in consultation with the caretaker(s) and the school administrator(s) to ensure that services are being provided to meet the needs of students and staff between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Caretaker timesheets shall be signed by the school administrator and submitted to the immediate supervisor within five (5) days of the end of each month. This does not include emergency callback.
Caretakers. A full‐time position for a caretaker shall consist of 24,000 square feet as determined by measuring the interior of the school. Caretakers. The provisions of this subclause apply to General Operational Staff who are employed to perform caretaking work.
(a) The Employer shall reimburse the cost of training to a caretaker who is required by the Employer to undertake an approved training course, nominated by the Employer and as required by the provisions of the Security Industry Act 1997 (and Regulations) or as otherwise required by the Employer. The Employer shall also pay to the caretaker excess travelling expenses relating to the attendance at the training.
(b) The Employer shall provide time off without loss of pay during ordinary hours for an Employee required to attend training referred to in paragraph 5.5(a).
(c) Where the training referred to in paragraph 5.5(a) is to be held outside the rostered shift of the Employee required to attend, then:
(i) the rostered shift should be altered so that the Employee can attend during ordinary working hours; or
(ii) for the time spent attending the course, the Employee can be granted time off in lieu on an hour for hour basis at a time convenient to the Employer; or
(iii) the Employee shall be paid for attending the course at ordinary-time rates without the addition of penalties. Provided that, such attendance shall not form part of the Employees ordinary roster for the purposes of Clause 13 - Hours of Work. The Employee may elect which is his/her preferred option from subparagraphs 5.5(c)(i), (ii) or (iii), with the option to be applied to be finally determined by the Employer having regards to the needs of the establishment.
(d) A caretaker required by the Employer to hold a Class 1 Security Licence pursuant to the provisions of the Security Industry Act 1997 shall have the cost of such licence reimbursed by the Employer on completion of each 12 months' service.

Caretakers. The City of Kamloops has the right to contract out work pursuant to Article 1(c) of the Collective Agreement. In exchange for the City of Kamloops not contracting out Caretakers at this time, the Union agrees, on a without prejudice, without precedent basis, to the following:
Caretakers. 20.6.1 Ordinary hours of duty for Caretakers shall not exceed 76 hours per fortnight, to be worked over any twelve days in that fortnightly period at such times as their duties may require.
20.6.2 The ordinary hours of work for caretakers are between Monday to Sunday from 5.00am to 10.00pm.
20.6.3 Weekend penalty rates for Caretakers are applicable as follows:
20.6.3.1 For work on a Saturday: 25% (time and a quarter);
20.6.3.2 For work on a Sunday: 50%(time and a half) and
20.6.3.3 For work on a Public Holiday: 150% (double time and a half).
20.6.4 Caretakers shall be paid an additional 25% loading for all hours worked after midnight and before 5.00am, Monday to Friday.
Caretakers. 8.3.1 The Authority and Contractor shall enter into the Caretakers Agreement for Lease in the Agreed Form relating to the housing accommodations for the Caretakers.
8.3.2 The Authority shall reimburse the Contractor for all direct liability, loss, damages, injury, claims, costs and expenses (including reasonable legal expenses) awarded against or incurred or paid by the Contractor arising from any breach by the Authority of its obligations under clause 8.3.1, the Caretaker’s Agreement for Lease or the Caretaker’s Leases. Clauses 63.4 to 63.7 shall apply to this clause.
8.3.3 The Authority shall use reasonable endeavours to assist the Caretakers in finding alternative housing accommodation on leaving their posts.
