Classification Descriptors. 62.1 The employer shall classify each Therapist/Hygienist employed under this Agreement as a Therapist/Hygienist Graduate, Level 1, 2, 3 or 4. Classification competencies are provided at Clause 63. Classification Description Indicative Occupation
Level 1 Performs routine dentistry consistent with their scope of practice and credentialing. This is a moderate skill level and includes the moderately experienced Therapist/Hygienist who is competent in basic tasks. May require regular professional support and mentoring. Therapist/Hygienist still gaining experience Level 2 An experienced Therapist/Hygienist who performs all dentistry within their scope of practice and credentialing. This is the broad based skill level. It encompasses an experienced Therapist/Hygienist who is competent in all general dental tasks and who would be expected to be familiar with and be able to exhibit a number of more advanced tasks that are commonly performed within their scope of practice. The Therapist/Hygienist at this level must have demonstrated a commitment to professional development, and may act as a mentor to less experienced staff when required. Experienced Therapist/Hygienist Level 3 A Level 3 Therapist/Hygienist includes an experienced Therapist/Hygienist who is widely recognised for their exceptional competence and has a proven record for carrying out a broad range of advanced and complex dental procedures within their scope of practice and credentialing. A Level 3 Therapist/Hygienist frequently receives referrals from other dental practitioners and is called upon for dental advice within their scope of practice. A level 3 Therapist/Hygienist has achieved a high level of clinical competence, provides leadership, communicates effectively both within their service and externally, participates in staff induction and professional development, and acts as a mentor and supervisor to less experienced staff and to students. Senior Clinical Therapist/Hygienist Position by appointment Level 4 A Level 4 Therapist/Hygienist is an experienced Therapist/Hygienist who in addition to advanced level clinical skills within their scope of practice and credentialing is responsible for the leadership and management of a clinical team of 3 or more equivalent full-time employees. Classification Descriptors. 5.1. RF Worker Grade 1
5.1.1. Characteristics of the level Persons appointed at this level are recent graduates with less than 1 years experience or applicants with one to two years experience in the relevant field area of appointment eg mental health, homelessness etc. Applicants at this level work under the direction and supervision of an RF Team Leader or RF Manager although during the first three months of appointment they are expected to work with regular checking of work progress. Persons at this level will have no supervisory responsibilities. RF Workers may be employed in residential, outreach, community, respite or other service type roles working to provide individual support to people suffering the effects of mental illness, homelessness or other psycho-social difficulties or the carers of such persons. RF Workers at this level apply their qualifications and/or experience to work with clients to support the enhancement the client’s quality of life. They work with clients to develop individual goals and provide them with an enhanced capacity to be able to, or realistically aspire to, live and work within the community. Persons at this level undertake the full range of typical duties outlined at Grade 2 but work under closer supervision during the initial period of appointment and bring less experience to the work requiring more regular supervision than more experienced grade 2 workers.
5.2. RF Worker Grade 2
5.2.1. Characteristics of the level Persons appointed at this level are graduates with a minimum of one to two years work experience or experienced applicants with at least two to four years experience in the relevant field area of appointment eg mental health, homelessness etc. Persons at this level work under the direction and supervision of an RF Team Leader or RF Manager. Persons at this level have clear duties and accountabilities and receive fortnightly supervision related to the performance of their professional duties. Persons at this level will generally have no supervisory responsibilities but may have an administrative coordination component, related to their core function, as part of their role e.g. Respite or Volunteer coordination. Only persons operating at RFW level 2/3 or 2/4 would be expected to have responsibility for students on placement or involvement in administrative duties such as rostering etc.

These positions generally follow instructions and defined procedures and processes. Decision making is generally not one of the critical elements of these positions. Knowledge and expertise required for these roles • Roles at the base of this level would not require formal qualifications nor work experience when joining the organisation. • For roles at this level elementary knowledge of standardised work routines is required on the job by delivering simple, often repetitive tasks. • The communication required for these roles is aimed at giving and receiving basic information effectively. Problem solving typical for these roles • Resolve problems where alternatives for the job holder are limited and the required action is clear or can be readily referred to higher levels. • These roles operate within detailed rules and instructions, generally following strict routines. Output and impact required from these roles • These roles have a supporting impact on the execution of specific operational tasks led by others. • They perform routine activities with direct instructions and close supervision.
