Education and Training Leave. Effective July 1, 2008, the Judiciary will provide one paid day per calendar year for education and/or training resulting in CEU or Real Time credits, subject to advance review and approval.
Education and Training Leave. Section 1. Regular (non-probationary) employees may attend training seminars, workshops or conferences related to professional development, safety, personal growth and educational advancement without charging related time off against annual vacation leave and without losing any part of their salary for attendance within regularly scheduled working hours. Attendance must be approved in advance by the employee’s supervisor.
Section 2. The department, (if a special fund department,) or the General Fund Training Pool, (if a general fund department,) may pay for reasonable registration fees and other related expenses, such as lodging, per diem, and travel, in accordance with the Missoula County travel policy.
Education and Training Leave. 27.1 The Employer recognises that training and development of staff is essential to maintain a quality and efficient service. The Employer will fund or provide staff training or development, including granting of leave to complete qualifications, attend seminars and to undertake research projects which are relevant to the work of the Employer and which facilitates Employee growth and development.
27.2 For the purpose of education training and development the Employer will make the following in annual provisions for and subject to individual Employees fulfilling the qualifying criteria may pay and/or allow to such Employees: -
27.2.1 Up to five days paid leave for and 1% per annum of the base salary of whole time Employees for whom the Employer is required to pay the cost of practising certificate under clause 18; or
27.2.2 Up to 2½ days paid leave for and 0.5% per annum of the base salary of whole time Employees not covered in (26.2.1) above;
27.2.3 Similar provisions for part-time Employees on a pro-rata basis;
27.2.4 Allocations made under (26.2.1) above may be accumulated for two years.
Education and Training Leave. When the University, on the recommendation of the Department Head, requests in writing that an employee take a course or participate in some other form of job-related and/or health and safety related training activity (orientation, conference, seminar, workshop), the employee will be granted the necessary time off with pay and will be reimbursed by the University for the required fees and other approved costs. No employee shall suffer undue financial hardship as a result of the University’s reimbursement policy. The Department Head may authorize a request for a travel advance where appropriate. When an employee’s participation occurs on a normal day off work she/he will be granted equivalent time off on a straight time basis.
Education and Training Leave. (a) An employee shall be granted leave with pay to take courses at the request of the Employer. The Employer shall bear the full cost of the course(s) including tuition fees, entrance or registration fees, laboratory fees, course-required books. Traveling expenses shall be reimbursed in accordance with Article 28.
(b) An employee, on request and subject to approval by the Employer, may be granted leave with 50% of the employee’s annual salary to take courses in which the employee wishes to enroll and which will benefit the Employer.
(c) Upon completion of the leave, the Member shall be required to return to the University for a period of time at least equal to twice the length of the leave. An employee who fails to return to the University shall reimburse the University for the compensation received during the leave. Should an employee return for a period of time less than twice the length of the leave, reimbursement will be calculated proportionally.

The Company will grant a leave of absence to a maximum of six (6) months without pay to employees for educational or training purposes provided that: -the employee has 1 year seniority with the Company; -the employee applies one month in advance; -the education or training leave is forest industry related; -the Company shall grant such leave where a bona fide reason is advanced by the applicant, or may postpone leave in the event a suitable replacement is not available; -leave is restricted to one (1) time in a two (2) year calendar period; -the Company will notify the Union Committee of its decision in respect to any application under this provision.
Education and Training Leave. The Company will grant leave of absence to a maximum of eight (8) months without pay to employees for their educational or training purposes conditional on the following terms:
(a) That the employee has at least one (1) year seniority with the Company.
(b) That the employee apply at least one (1) month in advance unless the grounds for such application could not reasonably be foreseen.
(c) That the employee shall disclose the grounds for application.
(d) That the Company shall only be obliged to grant leave to employees who intend to take training that will assist the individual in obtaining skills related to the industry, which includes high school upgrading, or may postpone leave where a suitable replacement is not available.
(e) That the Company shall be required to notify the Committee of its decision in respect to any application for leave under this section.
(f) That the employee is only entitled to one (1) leave of absence for educational or training purposes per calendar year.
