Emergency Staffing. In the event an emergency situation arises and a state of emergency is declared by the Mayor, CAO or the Board of Health, the Employer reserves the right to alter an Employee’s work location and job duties as required during the state of emergency. The Employer further reserves the right to call in Employees without the need to follow seniority and/or overtime call in schedules. An emergency is defined as a situation or an impending situation caused by the force of nature, an accident, an international act or otherwise, that constitutes a danger of major proportions to life or property.

In case of an emergency, the on-duty Alarm Monitor will have the authority to call Safety and Security 609 employees to fill extra time vacancies using the rotating seniority list and extra time/overtime matrix per established protocols. If there are no Alarm/Security Response Unit employees available for extra time, then the rotating hot list will be used for overtime opportunities. Emergency Staffing. In the event it is necessary to enact emergency staffing of the Behavioral Solution Center or the Walk in Crisis Center (WIC) locations, MHCD will provide a $75 incentive pay for each shifi covered outside an employee’s regularly scheduled hours. Qualified bargaining unit employees will be offered the shifi before any employee outside the bargaining unit including temporary staff or contractors. Staff regularly scheduled at the Solution Center or the Walk in Crisis Center (WIC) who pick up shifis in addition to their full time position will receive incentive pay for each additional shifi they cover regardless of the time frame when they accept the shifi and when the shifi begins. (For example a worker at the WIC may accept a shifi two weeks in advance of a shifi and receive the incentive pay for that shifi). Bargaining unit employees who do not work at the Solution Center or Walk in Crisis Center (WIC) who accept an emergency staffing shifi will receive incentive pay if they accept the shifi 72 hours or less in advance of the start of the shifi. Incentive pay will be provided regardless of whether or not the lack of staffing would cause a location to shut down. If a full 12 hour shifi is not available, a manager may also offer the shifi incentive ($75) for a partial shifi that is 6 hours or more.

Emergency Staffing. In the event of an emergency staffing situation after shift change at 0700, only Light Apparatuses will go “Out-of-Service” to maintain staffing levels for Heavy Apparatus while backfill is utilized. At no time is it acceptable to allow heavy apparatus to fall below 4-person staffing.
Emergency Staffing. During an emergency situation occasioned by bad weather, mechanical failure, or other condition set forth in the district’s emergency plan, it is expected that employee will remain at their worksite and ensure the continuing safety of students. Under such circumstances, once students have been dismissed, employees will not be required to remain at their schools and shall be free to leave. Where an employee has a personal situation that conflicts with their continued presence at school during such an emergency he/she shall seek permission to leave from the building principal or his/her designee; such permission will not be unreasonably denied.
