Evaluation of Teaching Performance. 1.1 Whenever this Agreement calls for an evaluation of the teaching performance of a Faculty Member in relation to re-appointment, tenure, or promotion, then the evaluation, recommendations and decisions shall be carried out in accordance with Article E-1.

Evaluation of Teaching Performance. Any evaluation of a Member’s teaching performance for any purpose shall be carried out in accordance with this Article, as shall any recommendations and decisions related to teaching performance.
Evaluation of Teaching Performance. III.18.1.1 Any evaluation of teaching performance required as part of this collective agreement (e.g. as part of tenure or promotion considerations) shall be conducted according to this article. III.18.1.2 The parties agree that Student Course Evaluations are valuable in contributing to the improvement of teaching within the University. Although these survey instruments provide important information about teaching performance, such opinions do not in themselves constitute an evaluation of teaching performance. III.18.1.3 Reviews of teaching performance may not rely exclusively on Student Course Evaluations or student opinions. Full consideration shall be given all materials required and permitted as part of any evaluation of teaching performance described in this agreement.
Evaluation of Teaching Performance. VII.11.1 Any evaluation of teaching performance required as part of this collective agreement (e.g. as part of tenure or promotion considerations) shall be conducted according to this article. VII.11.2 Assessment and evaluation of teaching shall be based on the effectiveness of the instructor, as indicated by command over subject matter, familiarity with recent developments in the field, preparedness, presentation, accessibility to students and influence on the intellectual and scholarly developments of students. VII.11.3 The parties agree that Student Course Evaluations contribute to the improvement of teaching within the University. Although these survey instruments provide important information about teaching performance, such opinions do not in themselves constitute an evaluation of teaching performance. Further, it is understood that not all opinions provided in Student Course Evaluations are relevant to the assessment and evaluation of teaching. VII.11.4 Reviews of teaching performance may not rely exclusively on Student Course Evaluations or student opinions. Full consideration shall be given all materials required and permitted as part of any evaluation of teaching performance described in this agreement. VII.11.5 Teaching includes, but is not limited to, the following activities performed by members: (a) delivering courses; conducting seminars; guiding tutorials, laboratories; supervising fieldwork, and individual study projects; (b) preparing, grading and correcting assignments, tests and examinations; (c) guiding the work of teaching assistants, graders, and markers, as applicable; (d) guiding and evaluating students’ individual work, such as theses and papers; (e) consultations with students outside of class or laboratory time; (f) participating in the development of teaching methods, programs or course content; and (g) preparing course outlines, instructional material, laboratory exercises and course notes. VII.11.6 Any evaluation of a member’s teaching performance shall review all relevant information including but not limited to: (a) the teaching dossier submitted by the member, if applicable; (b) the size, type and nature and level of courses taught; (c) the nature of the subject matter; (d) the experience of the member with the course, and the number of new course preparations assigned to the member; (e) the role of the member and the method of delivery; (f) departmental and disciplinary variations in teaching methods and norms; (g) the pe...
Evaluation of Teaching Performance. 15.6.1 Any evaluation of an Employee’s teaching performance for any purpose shall be carried out in accordance with this article, as shall any recommendations and decisions related to teaching performance. 15.6.2 For purposes of this article, teaching includes, but is not limited to, the following activities performed by Employees either in a classroom, through correspondence, or from a distance through the use of technologically assisted instruction such as the Internet. (a) Giving courses, conducting seminars, guiding tutorials and laboratories, doing fieldwork, and supervising individual study projects; (b) Preparing and correcting assignments, tests and examinations; (x) Xxxxxxx the work of teaching assistants, markers and laboratory instructors; (d) Xxxxxxx and evaluating students’ individual work, such as theses and papers; (e) Granting individual consultations outside of class or laboratory time; (f) Participating in the development of teaching methods, programs or course content; (g) Preparing instructional material, laboratory exercises and course notes for the employee’s own students; and (h) Writing textbooks, it being understood that such textbooks may also be considered when evaluating an Employee’s scholarship. All other activities in which the Employee engages for the purposes of preparing courses and seminars, including those undertaken to ensure that his/her teaching is in keeping with the current state of the subject taught, and considered teaching activities. 15.6.3 Any information considered during the assessment of an Employee’s teaching shall be in writing and shall be made available to the Employee for comments prior to use of that information in any evaluation of the Employee.
Evaluation of Teaching Performance. 12.1 Both the Board and the teachers agree that one purpose of evaluation is to complement and improve the overall instructional program of Vienna High School as well as remediate inefficiencies and provide positive reinforcement for individual teachers of the system. Further, both parties recognize the importance and value of developing a procedure for assisting and evaluating the classroom teaching process. 12.2 An evaluation form will be cooperatively designed by the administration and a faculty committee. The evaluation form will be submitted to the Board of Education for final approval. The evaluation form will be subject to annual review with any changes submitted to the Board of Education for approval prior to using the form for evaluation purposes. 12.3 Content of the evaluation plan will comply with the minimum requirements listed in Chapter 105 of the Illinois School Code.

An evaluation of a teacher may be conducted at any time by a supervisor or where the teacher and supervisor otherwise agree. 3. In evaluating the performance of a teacher it is recommended that the following criteria be considered: a. the teacher's knowledge of their pupils b. the teacher's planning in relation to definite purposes and clear objectives c. the teacher's attempts to involve students in experiences and activities designed to develop skills and stimulate thought, with due consideration for individual differences d. the teacher's provision of opportunities for questions, speculations and originality e. the teacher's endeavours to keep their knowledge current and their teaching techniques effective in the subject areas they teach f. the teacher's classroom management practices with regard to educational objectives g. the teacher's relationship with pupils

The District will prepare and periodically update the Certified Evaluation Handbook, working in collaboration with representatives appointed by the Association prior to presenting any proposed changes to the Board for adoption.
Evaluation of Teaching Performance. The University may conduct evaluations in order to assess a Faculty Member'steaching performance. Whenever this Agreement callsfor an evaluation of the teaching performance of a Member in relation tocontract renewal, tenure, promotion, or discipline for deficient performance of workload duties, the evaluation, recommendationsand decisions shall be in accord with this article. For the purposes of this article, teaching includes the following activities performed by Members either in the classroom, through correspondence, or from a distance through the use of technologically assisted instruction:

B. Frequency of Evaluation: Contract teachers/staff will be evaluated at least every 2 years, and can be evaluated annually. Probationary teachers will be evaluated 3 times in the first year and at least twice in the second and third years. Exceptions and specifics are addressed in the Certified Evaluation Handbook. C. Summative evaluations will be shared with each teacher prior to the last work day of the year and be submitted to the superintendent’s office by the last day of June. See the Certified Evaluation Handbook for the schedule of mini and formal observations. D. The district evaluator (a district employee) may use such equipment (such as audio and video recording devices) as deemed appropriate by the administration in the evaluation of members with the member's prior approval. E. The evaluator is required to make evaluation in writing. These evaluations are to become part of the permanent personnel file. Members must be given an opportunity to sign their evaluations to assure he/she has seen and read the report. The member may submit an explanation or denial to be added to the report.
