Extended Leave for Union Business. The Employer will grant leave of absence without pay to employees who are appointed or elected to union office for a period of up to and including one (1) year. Further leave of absence may be granted by mutual consent. The employee who obtains this leave of absence shall return to their Employer within forty (40) days after completion of their term of employment with the Union and shall give the Employer not less than thirty-one (31) days’ notice of the intention to return to work for the Employer.

Extended Leave for Union Business. 37.1 If an Employee is elected or appointed to a full-time position with the Union or any recognized body or association with which the Union is affiliated, the Council of the Employer, upon receipt of a properly supported application from the Union on behalf of the Employee, which is to be processed initially through the Commissioner of Human Resources, will consider the request for leave of absence as follows:
Extended Leave for Union Business. An extended leave of absence, without pay but with maintenance and accumulation of seniority up to one (1) year, shall be granted to a maximum of one (1) employee at any one time designated by the Union for the conducting of full-time Union business on behalf of Local 890 or for Unifor. Said leave shall be for no less than one (1) month nor more than one (1) year unless extended by mutual agreement by the Parties for up to another one (1) year period.
Extended Leave for Union Business. At any given time, one (1) employee may, with the approval of their department head, take an unpaid leave of absence of up to six months for purposes of Union Business. Such leave may be extended by mutual agreement of the parties for an additional six months. At the conclusion of the leave, the employee shall be reinstated (using layoff rules) to their regular or substantially equivalent position under the MOU as if they had not been away from County employment. The County shall not be considered the employer for any purposes or liability while the employee is on such a leave of absence.

  • Leave for Union Business The Hospital agrees to grant leaves of absence, without pay, to nurses selected by the Union to attend Union business including conferences, conventions and Provincial Committee meetings and to any nurse elected to the position of Local Co-ordinator. The cumulative total leave of absence, the amount of notice, the number of nurses that may be absent at any time from one area and the number of days (including those of the Local Co-ordinator) is set out in the Appendix of Local Provisions. During such leave of absence, a nurse's salary and applicable benefits or percentage in lieu of fringe benefits shall be maintained by the Hospital and the local Union agrees to reimburse the Hospital in the amount of the daily rate of the full-time nurse or in the amount of the full cost of such salary and percentage in lieu of fringe benefits of a part-time nurse except for Provincial Committee meetings which will be reimbursed by the Union. The Hospital will xxxx the local Union within a reasonable period of time. Part-time nurses will receive service and seniority credit for all leaves granted under this Article.

  • Unpaid Leave - Union Business (a) Short-term leave of absence without pay to a maximum of fourteen (14) days at one time shall be granted to employees designated by the Union to transact Union business including conventions and conferences unless this would unduly interrupt the operation of the department provided, however, that these designated employees shall be paid by the Employer for time lost in attending meetings during working hours whenever their attendance is requested by the Employer. The Union shall give reasonable notice to minimize disruption of the department and the Union shall make every effort to give a minimum of seven (7) days' notice.

Notwithstanding the above, time spent by the eight (8) Executive Board members and seven (7) Alternate Executive Board members of the Ontario Council of Hospital Unions to fulfill the duties of the position shall be in addition to leave for Union Business under this clause. Part-time and casual employees will be given full credit for seniority purposes for regularly scheduled hours missed in accordance with this provision.

  • LEAVE OF ABSENCE - UNION BUSINESS 11.08.01 Employees who have been elected or appointed to carry out business authorized by the Union on a full-time basis shall be granted a Leave of Absence for this purpose. The Union will advise the Company of the name(s) of such employee(s), the term of such leave, and the specific purpose. The Union shall repay the Company for the Company's costs incurred in Employee Benefit Plans and the employee(s) shall continue to pay their contributions directly to the Company. The Company shall provide such employees with free and reduced-rate transportation in accordance with Company regulations. Such employees shall continue to accrue seniority and service while on leave of absence.

  • Local Union Business Leave The Hospital agrees to grant leaves of absence without pay to local bargaining unit members for the purpose of attending Union seminars and/or attending to Union business. The cumulative total leave of absence will be determined locally, but shall not exceed forty (40) days per year per hospital. The amount of notice required and the number of employees who may be absent at any one time and from any one area shall be determined locally and will be set out in the Local Provisions Appendix.
