Floating Assignments. Employees will be required to work only in those areas within the Hospital where they have received orientation. Employees shall not be required to perform tasks or procedures for which they have not been trained or to which they have not been oriented. Circumstances permitting, qualified volunteers will be sought first when floating is necessary.

Floating Assignments. Provided safe and cost effective staffing alternatives are available, every effort will be made to limit floating assignments to areas where staff have been cross-trained or will have the appropriate basic skills for the areas to which they float. The Employer retains the right to change the employee’s daily work assignment on a shift by shift basis to meet operational needs. Staff will receive orientation to the department or unit and will be assigned a resource person for guidance as needed. Orientation will be appropriate to the assignment and will be dependent upon the staff member’s previous experience and familiarity with the area to which such staff member is assigned. If during the floating assignment a staff member is asked to perform a task or procedure for which the staff member is not qualified, the staff member should immediately discuss the matter with the lead, charge nurse or manager. If the lead, charge nurse or manager is not available and the situation continues, the nursing supervisor should be paged immediately to address the situation. In areas where patient care is provided, staff will be expected to perform all basic patient care functions, but may not be required to perform tasks or procedures uniquely applicable to the department or unit that they are not qualified or trained to perform.
Floating Assignments. Float assignments will be made based on the competency level of the nurse. The Nurse Practice Committee shall create criteria to determine float competencies. When assigned to float, a nurse will only be assigned duties that they are competent to perform. If a nurse is floated and they have not been oriented to the physical environment, they will be oriented before beginning any work.

The designated resource nurse and/or specialty 8 trained nurse (independent pediatric, chemotherapy, or labor nurse, etc.) 9 may be by-passed for floating turn to maintain optimal patient care in a 10 department. 11

At a minimum, nurses assigned to float will receive or will have previously received basic information needed to work on the unit, including unit layout, location of supplies, and essential unit protocols prior to receiving a information for their unit. Non-oriented nurses and/or non-competent nurses can only assume supplemental assist assignments, which will not include taking a primary patient assignment. If a nurse determines in his/her professional judgement that he/she is not unit competent for the float assignment, the nurse may indicate the reasons why, at the time of the assignment, to either the individual making the float assignment, or to the designated individual in charge of the unit to which the nurse has been assigned to float, in an attempt to mutually agree on an accommodation or a supplemental assist position. There shall be no retaliation for a nurse raising a concern with a floating assignment.   • Acting Assignment (a) For the purpose of this Agreement, acting assignment means the assignment of an employee on an acting basis to a Postmaster or Senior Assistant position which is at a higher classification level than the position to which he is appointed. An employee will perform the duties of the higher classification level that may be required during the acting assignment in order to be entitled to receive the acting pay.

  • Housing Assignments The University assigns Licensee to a bed space and does not guarantee specific room types, buildings, communities, or roommates. The University shall have the right to reassign the Licensee to a different bed space without the Licensee’s consent prior to or during the term of the Agreement.

  • Teaching Assignments No employee shall be assigned to teach in a grade level and/or subject area not within the scope of his/her teaching certificate, except where a position within his/her certification is unavailable or when mutually agreed to by the affected employee and principal, or when determined necessary by the principal. Employees assigned to positions outside the scope of their certificates shall be assigned as soon as possible to positions for which they hold certification.

  • Subcontracting; Assignment The Contractor may not subcontract any portion of the services provided under this Contract without obtaining the prior written approval of the Procurement Officer, nor may the Contractor assign this Contract or any of its rights or obligations hereunder, without the prior written approval of the Procurement Officer provided, however, that a contractor may assign monies receivable under a contract after due notice to the State. Any subcontracts shall include such language as may be required in various clauses contained within this Contract, exhibits, and attachments. The Contract shall not be assigned until all approvals, documents, and affidavits are completed and properly registered. The State shall not be responsible for fulfillment of the Contractor’s obligations to its subcontractors.

  • Training Assignments The Supervisor or designee may establish written training assignments to enable an employee to gain the additional experience and training required for the job for a period of time not to exceed two years. At the completion of the training assignment, the employee’s pay will be set no less than the entry rate of pay for the occupational pay band.

  • Shift Assignments When an opening occurs in a shift assignment in an appropriate work group at a location, preference shall be given to employees within the classification who possess the training, ability and any required special qualifications to perform the work required, on the basis of seniority. In the event that no employee desires a shift assignment, employees shall be selected in order of inverse seniority. This provision shall not apply to necessary training assignments. This provision shall not in itself alter the practice of rotating shifts where such practice presently exists. No employee who has a regular shift assignment on the effective date of the Agreement shall be involuntarily displaced from such shift assignment as a result of this Article.

  • SPECIAL TEACHING ASSIGNMENTS A. Assignments for the Adult Education, Driver Education and Summer School Program will be made by the Board on the basis of preference to teachers possessing permanent teaching certificates regularly employed in the district during the normal school year.

  • Acting Assignment Pay 181. Employees assigned by the Appointing Officer or its designee to perform a substantial portion of the duties and responsibilities of a higher classification shall receive compensation at a higher salary if all of the following conditions are met:
