Float Pool. The Parties agree it may be operationally more efficient and cost effective to utilize regular status float positions for relief work as set out in the Casual Employees Addendum.
Float Pool. Float Pool Nurses at both RiverBend and University District 31 shall be paid an hourly differential of $5.00 above their Appendix A pay rate.
Float Pool. An internal replacement service staffed by regular status employees will be provided during the term of this agreement by the Employer to provide staffing assistance throughout the region in classifications determined by the Employer. If a Regional Float Pool is maintained, the following will apply to employees of that Regional Department:
Float Pool. The Union and the Hospital agree to implement unit weekend schedules according to this Letter of Agreement. A weekend schedule is defined as a schedule in which a full-time staff member works a weekly average of thirty (30) hours and is paid for 37.5 hours at their regular strait time hourly rate. This schedule must include two 11.25 which fall within a weekend period as determined by the Hospital and the Local. Staff working a Weekend schedule will work every weekend except where absent for Vacation, Statutory Holidays, Sick Leave or Leaves of Absence. Weekend and Shift Premiums shall not apply. Vacation Bank: Vacation credits will be earned, and utilized at an accelerated rate of 1.25 hours earned or utilized for every hour worked or taken as vacation. Vacation must be taken as a full weekend off. The maximum number of weekends of cannot exceed the number of weeks vacation to which the individual is entitled under Article 25.01. Single vacation days may be taken on Weekdays, but need not be in conjunction with the Saturday and Sunday. Single vacation days may be taken on a weekend, provided no replacement is necessary. Paid Holiday Bank: Weekend Workers qualify in accordance with the collective agreement Credit to the Paid Holiday Bank will occur on the date of the Holiday. Drawing from the Paid Holiday Bank will occur at an accelerated rate of 1.25 hours paid for every hour taken. Where Weekend Workers work on a paid holiday as identified in the Collective Agreement he or she will be paid at rate of time and one half (1-1/2) pay for all hours worked on that holiday. They will not receive a day in lieu. The Paid Holiday Bank can be utilized as income replacement for absences due to illness. Sick Leave: Weekend Workers will not be eligible for Short-Term Disability benefits. The Paid Holiday Bank can be utilized as income replacement for absences due to illness. Weekend Workers will be eligible for Long Term Disability benefits as described in Article 28.01. Weekend Workers will not receive pay for the first 17 weeks of an absence due to legitimate illness. Subject to the availability of banked paid holiday hours, Weekend Workers will be eligible for Employment Insurance for weeks 3 through 17 for an absence due to legitimate illness. The hospital will provide the staff member with 65% of their regular earnings for weeks 18 through 30 for any absence due to a legitimate illness. Float Pool. The Institute may develop positions for staff RNs who will be utilized to provide coverage for vacation, sick call, leaves, or other needs that may arise. The float pool may include Regular Full-Time nurses, Regular Part-Time nurses, and/or Per Diem nurses. The Institute will determine the qualifications necessary to be included in the Float Pool, and will develop an appropriate training program. The Institute will manage Float Pool assignments in accordance with the patient care needs of the Institute. Notwithstanding the existence of a Float Pool, all nurses may be assigned to work on a unit other than their assigned unit, in accordance with the terms of this Agreement. Regular full-time and regular part-time nurses assigned to the Float Pool shall receive a premium of $1.50 per hour. The Float Pool premium shall not be paid to Per Diem nurses or to nurses assigned to a regular unit who are required to float to another unit on a temporary basis.
Float Pool. A float pool is a pool of regularly scheduled full-time and part-time nurses assigned to float to various departments. The float pool shall be considered a department. Nurses in the float pool may request that their skills in other departments be reviewed by the nurse director for those departments. If the float nurse’s skills meet department-specific competency skills as determined by the nurse director/clinical manager, with input from the preceptor and float nurse, the float nurse will be considered competent to accept a patient assignment in the department.
Float Pool. The Employer and Union share a common interest in reducing the use of agency staff and overtime. The Employer shall maintain the RN float pool. To be eligible for a float pool position, a nurse shall be qualified in one of the following specialty areas: ER, Critical Care, Oncology, Mother/Baby, or Peri-Anesthesia. Seniority shall be the determining factor in filling float pool positions, providing skill, competence, ability, experience and prior job performance are considered equal in the opinion of the Employer. Once selected for the float pool, the nurse will be oriented to the Medical and Surgical units. Float pool nurses are expected to work on any assigned unit for which they are qualified. Nurses assigned to the float pool shall receive a five dollar ($5.00) premium for all hours worked in the float pool in addition to the nurse’s regular rate of pay. Float pool premium shall not be included in the nurse’s regular rate of pay for overtime pay calculations, unless required by the Fair Labor Standards Act. Float pool nurses shall not be eligible for certification pay (Section 9.8, Certification Pay). In the event a nurse who is currently employed by Highline Medical Center is selected for the float pool, transfer into the float pool will occur per Section 5.10, Job Openings, of the Agreement.
Float Pool. The Hospital shall maintain a float pool in order to minimize 5 requests for staff to float from their regularly assigned units/departments. Float pool 6 nurses shall be required to achieve and maintain competency, skills and certifications 7 required to work within their Floating Tier as described below and will be provided with 8 the training and education to do so. The intent is to provide base unit staff with support 9 while establishing realistic expectations for staff floating into the department in order to 10 maximize patient and staff safety.
Float Pool. Nurses hired into the Float Pool must be capable of working in at least three (3) specialty departments and shall receive a premium of three dollars ($3.00) per compensable hour for shifts worked within the FTE allocated to the Float Pool. Specialty departments shall be defined as Family Birthing Center (to include Labor & Delivery), Emergency Department/Urgent Care, and Critical Care Unit. Nurses not in the Float Pool, and Float Pool nurses holding an additional FTE outside the Float Pool and floating in conjunction with an assigned shift in that capacity, are not be eligible for the Float Pool premium.
Float Pool. The Hospital shall pay Float Pool nurses an additional differential of $32.00 per compensated hour.
