Grievance Procedure Step. 1 The employee shall, with the consent of the Zone Representative or the Grievance Committee, file a written grievance with her/his immediate supervisor and Human Resources within five (5) working days of when the incident giving rise to the complaint would reasonably have been known to the employee. If the immediate supervisor is in the bargaining unit, the grievance shall be made to the manager, or if the manager of the supervisor is the head of the department, step 1 shall be omitted and the grievance shall proceed directly to the head of the department at step 2. The grievor and a Union representative shall meet with the supervisor within five (5) working days to discuss the grievance and seek a settlement. The supervisor/manager may arrange for an Employer representative to be present at the meeting. If the grievance is not resolved, the supervisor shall provide a written response to the grievor and the Grievance Committee within three (3) working days of that meeting, with a copy to the Director of Human Resources.

Grievance Procedure Step. The employee assisted by a Xxxxxxx, if she so desires, may submit a written grievance signed by her to her Department Manager and Senior Manager. The nature of the grievance, the remedy sought and the section or sections of the Collective Agreement which are alleged to have been violated shall be identified in the grievance. The Department Manager or Senior Manager will deliver their decision in writing within seven (7) calendar days following the day on which the grievance was presented to them.
