A Union representativewill be appointed by the Unionto the Company’s Safety Committee to attend safety meetings. The Company agrees to notify this Union Safety Representativeof any lost time accidents inthe bargaining unit. The Company will provide safety shoes to all employees who are requiredto wear them. Safety Shoes Allowance to be per year of contract.

HEALTHAND SAFETY. Both parties to this Agreement recognize the need to protect the health and ensure the safety of all employees. It is up to the Employer to adopt and implement, as far as circumstances warrant, practices and reasonable methods to protect the employees' health and ensure their safety at work. The Union may make suggestions to the Employer concerning work safety.
HEALTHAND SAFETY. The parties to this Agreement are subject to the provisions, stipulations, and regulations of the federal and state safety and health laws. Regarding safety shoes, Company shall require safety shoes that meet the stated requirements in the Plant Safety Handbook. Company shall p ro vi de a n a l l o wa nc e for safety shoes of $200 per calendar year. Company shall reimburse fully against receipts all reasonable cost for prescription safety glasses as needed. Employees shall comply with established safety rules at all times, and the Union will cooperate with the Company in ensuring that employees observe safety regulations and to work in a safe manner. If an employee has a justifiable reason to believe that his safety and health or the safety and health of others are in danger due to unsafe working conditions or practices or equipment or unsafe work habits of others, he shall take immediate action to address the situation, and inform his supervisor and/ or Lead Operator immediately. The supervisor and/ or Lead Operator shall determine if any further actions are necessary to make the situation safe. Employees are required to take annual physical examinations. Where such physical examinations are required, the employee shall be provided with a copy of the results. Such examinations will be paid for by the Company. Any employee who refuses to undergo a physical examination when instructed to do so by the Company, may be disqualified and may be subject to immediate discharge. The Company will have the option of requiring a medical examination by a physician designated by management as a prerequisite of re-employment if the employee is laid off in excess of six (6) months or is absent due to sickness or accident in excess of ten (10) consecutive workdays. The parties have previously agreed to honor the Xxxxxx Xxxxxxx Power Systems, Inc. Substance Abuse Policy, dated July 1994.
HEALTHAND SAFETY. The Employer and the Union agree that they mutually desire to maintain standards of safety and health in order to prevent accidents. injury and illness. Recognizing the responsibilities under the applicable legislation, they agree to maintain a Joint Health and Safety Committee to identify potential dangers and hazards, institute of improving health and safety programs and recommend action to be taken to improve conditions related to safety and health. All members of the Joint Health and Safety Committee shall receive training and education to ensure a basic understanding of health and safety issues and Committee functions. This training shall be undertaken prior to acting on Committee, or thereafter, as determined by the Joint Health and Safety Committee. A yearly upgrading on health and safety issues should be provided for all Joint Health and Safety Committee members. The certified worker shall be trained at the Employer’s expense. All time spend in training shall be considered work time and paid accordingly. Certified Workers One Health and Safety representative from will be the certified worker defined under the Occupational Health and Safety Act. Meetings shall be held quarterly, or more frequently as required. The Committee shall maintain minutes of all meetings and make the same available for review. The Employer agrees to in providing necessary information to enable the Committee to fulfill its functions and the Union agrees to endeavour to obtain full of its membership in the observation of all safety rules and practices.
HEALTHAND SAFETY. 12.01 a) Both parties hereto will co-operate to the fullest extent reasonably possible in the prevention of accidents and thepromotion of thehealthandsafetyof theemployees of the Company. It isagreedthat all employees will use the protective devices supplied by the Company.

In situations where the cost is only partially covered, the Corporation shall reimburse that portion which is not covered by the above-mentionedplans. Alliance representatives on the Health and Safety Committee shall be provided with training at the Corporation's expense in order to carry out their duties pertaining to Health and Safety. All time spent in such training shall deemed to be time at work and paid at the appropriate rate. The Alliance may assist the Corporation by providing courses, instruction or upgrading on health and safety matters during regular hours. When it is not possible for to be done during regular work hours, the time spent at the training shall be deemed to be time at work at straight-time. Where applicable, the Corporation shall assume the cost of training employees designated as First Aid Attendants. Employees selected for First Aid training shall be granted time off with pay to attend First Aid courses. Such time off with pay shall be deemed to be time at work and paid at the appropriate rate.

The Hospital agrees to accept as a member of its Accident Prevention Health and Safety Committee at least one representative selected or appointed by the Union from amongst bargaining unit employees. Such Committee shall identify potential dangers and hazards, institute means of improving health and safety programs and recommend actions to be taken to improve conditions related to safety and health. The Hospital agrees to cooperate reasonably in providing necessary information to enable the Committee to fulfill its functions. Meetings shall be held every second month or more frequently at the call of the Chair if required. The Committee shall maintain minutes of all meetings and make the same available for review. Any representative appointed or selected in accordance with hereof shall serve for a term of one calendar year from the date of appointment which may be renewed for further periods of one year. Time off for such to attend meetings of the Accident Prevention Health and Safety Committee in accordance with the foregoing shall be granted and any attending such meeting during their regular scheduled hours of work shall not lose regular earnings as a result of such attendance. The Union agrees to endeavour to obtain the full cooperation of its membership in the observation of all safety rules and practices. Where the Hospital identifies high areas where employees are exposed to Hepatitis the Hospital will provide a vaccine at no cost to the employees. ”The Hospital will recognize April as the annual day of remembrance for workers killed, injured or have contracted a work related disease on the job. Subject to the requirements of patient care, the Hospital agrees to stop work and provide a minute of silence for all employees at A.M. April in memory of workers killed or injured on the job. ‘The will announce on its public. address system at a.m., April that all employees will be observing a minute of silence in memory of workers killed or injured in the job.” PAID HOLIDAYS The following paid holidays will be recognized as holidays for employees: New Year's Day Civic Holiday Good Friday Labour Day Easter Monday Thanksgiving Day Victoria Day Christmas Day Dominion Day Boxing Day In addition, employees who have completed their probationary period shall receive two (2) float holidays per calendar year to be taken no later than each December In order to qualify for payment of the above named holidays, and under the provisions of paragraph of this Agreement, an employee must work their regular working day immediately prior to and following the holiday, unless absent due to vacation, medically certified illness originating in the current or previous pay period in which the holiday occurs, or leave of absence on Union business, all of which must be authorized by the Hospital. In case the employee is obliged to work on the day the holiday is observed, and therefore a lieu day, as expressed in Article is agreed on, the attendance requirements as expressed above shall apply to the lieu day. An employee who is required to work on any of the foregoing designated holidays shall be paid at time and one-half (1 the regular straight time hourly rate for all hours worked on such holiday. An employee who qualifies for a lieu day will be granted such lieu day within thirty (30) days following the date on which holiday was observed. Such lieu day may be scheduled in conjunction with a scheduled weekend off, or days at a mutually agreeable time between the employee and their immediate supervisor. If the employee does not receive a day off in lieu, the employee shall be paid at time and one-half their regular straight hourly rate for all hours worked on such holiday, plus a regular day's pay at the regular straight time hourly rate in lieu of an additional day off. An employee who is absent on any of the above-named holidays being required to work forfeits all pay for that day unless absence is due to illness verified by a doctor's certificate in which case the employee will receive straight time for such holiday. If one of the above-named holidays occurs during an employee's vacation period, the employee will receive an additional day off in lieu thereof. ARTICLE VACATIONS employee may request earned vacation time anytime after the completion of their probationary period. Requests for vacation preference for the vacation year commencing June and ending June will be made by April preceding the commencement of the vacation year.   • HEALTH AND SAFETY 16.01 The Employer, Union and the employees shall comply with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act where and when applicable. The Employer shall provide working conditions at all times which are not prejudicial to the health or efficiency of the workers. The parties also recognise the importance of conducting regular audits of the employer's operations, policies and procedures including the employees' skills, knowledge, qualifications and application of healthy and safe work practices.
