JOB POSTING AND SENIORITY. 10.1 Posting of Job Openings: New positions or vacancies of more than thirty (30) days duration will be posted in each building for a period of five (5) days after the date the posting is sent by the Human Resources Department. A copy of postings shall be provided to two (2) RAVE CA officers at the time of posting. Applicants for posted positions must submit their application to the Human Resources Department in writing before the close of the posting period. The position shall be awarded on the basis of qualifications including, but not limited to, seniority. All internal non-probationary employees covered by this working agreement who apply to HR using the internal transfer form on or before the posted deadline will be entitled to an interview. Final decisions, however, for employment advancement or promotion, will be made by the employer.
JOB POSTING AND SENIORITYIn the event that a vacancy cannot be filled by selecting an individual from the division of the Public Works Department in which the vacancy occurs or from the department in which the vacancy occurs, the Township will then consider qualified employees with seniority from outside of the division or department in which the vacancy occurred. In this event, the other divisions and/or departments are of equal weight; no employee from any one division or department will receive preference as a result of being in that division or department. For purposes of job bidding, employees are considered to be in the divisions or department in which they are regularly scheduled to perform work.

JOB POSTING AND SENIORITY. 7.01 Vacancies in the Work System teams will be filled from within the team based on skills and seniority. The position will be offered first to those regularly rotating through it. An eligible employee may refuse an official move to a position within their team though they will still be required to participate in the rotation process identified by the Work System. If none of the employees in the regular rotation accept the position, it will be offered to employees in any lower level rotation where these exist and then to the team Support Generalist assigned to the team. Where the position cannot be filled as above, the position will be posted for all members of the local. When a new position is created within the Bargaining Unit, the Company shall post notices of the position on all bulletin boards for a period of five (5) working days in order that all members will know about the position and be able to make application. The applications may be in writing. The posting shall show the classification of the new position, the requirements of the position, the wages for it and the qualifications required as per the current job description. Job descriptions shall show qualifications required. The Company will advise the Union in writing, when a vacancy occurs within the Bargaining Unit and when the vacancy is filled. Persons who have not applied for the position during the five (5) working days of its posting will not be eligible to present a grievance for not having been selected for the job. When the position is successfully filled as above, resulting in a vacancy in the Team Support Generalist position, this vacancy will be filled as outlined in the Work Systems Agreement. 7.02 Where skills and seniority are relatively equal to perform the required tasks, then seniority will be the determining factor. Such principle shall apply in all cases of decrease, increase, transfer, lay off, recall or promotion and in the advancement of employees to higher classifications.

JOB POSTING AND SENIORITY. (a) Qualifications, ability and skill will be the determining factors in deciding promotions, lay offs and re-employment. When two or more employees have relatively equal qualifications, ability and skill, the most senior employee will be given preference. Seniority will be earned only on a departmental basis: (i) Pub (ii) Beer & Wine Store (b) New employees shall serve a departmental probationary period of sixty (60) working days actually worked. During the probationary period, the Employer shall determine the employee's suitability for employment and may dismiss the employee if in the opinion of the Employer, the employee would not be suitable for permanent employment. (c) If an employee is retained at the end of the probationary period, his/her seniority shall be calculated from the date of commencement of employment. The Employer may, at any time during the probationary period, advise the Union in writing, that an employee has been placed on the seniority list and is no longer to be considered as probationary. (i) When a layoff or reduction in hours becomes necessary in a department, probationary employees shall be laid off first. The Employer may lay off employees or reduce hours based on the relative skills of those affected or may confer and mutually agree with the Union upon a plan for equitable distribution of the available work. (ii) Lay offs will be on a departmental basis. (d) Seniority of an employee shall be lost if he: (i) Voluntarily leaves the employ of the Employer except where written leave of absence is granted by the Employer and a copy sent to the Union.

  • Super Seniority For purposes of layoff and recall only, the President shall head the seniority list, provided however, that such officer must have the necessary skill and experience to perform the required work. The Sheriff agrees that this section shall not be applied in an arbitrary manner.

  • Equal Seniority If two (2) or more employees subject to layoff have equal class seniority, the determination as to who shall be laid off will be made on the basis of the greater hire date seniority, and if that be equal, then the determination shall be made by lot.

  • Training and Orientation (a) No employee shall be required to work on any job or operate any piece of equipment until he/she has received proper training and instruction. (b) The Employer shall provide sufficient and adequate training and/or orientation to any employee working in a new or unfamiliar work area or position.

  • TRAINING AND RELATED MATTERS The parties recognise that in order to increase the efficiency and productivity of the company a significant commitment to structured training and skill development is required. Accordingly the parties commit themselves to: a) The parties to this Agreement recognise the importance of the apprenticeship system to the construction industry. It is agreed that every employer party to this Agreement who employs five (5) or more tradespersons in any one classification shall undertake to employ at least one (1) apprentice or make arrangements to host an apprentice from an agreed group apprenticeship scheme. Where an employer does not currently have an apprentice as per this provision, reasonable time shall be allowed to enable the employer to comply with this clause. Further, the parties are committed to a strong ratio of apprentices in the industry. Apprenticeship levels on a specific project may be discussed at the Project Pre-Commencement Conference (refer Clause 16). b) Providing employees with the opportunity to acquire additional skills within relevant career path structures through appropriate structured training based on nationally endorsed (i.e. Construction Training Australia endorsed) competency standards and curriculum; c) Actively encouraging employees to seek formal recognition of their skills (i.e. recognition of prior learning); and d) Using training providers accredited and acceptable to the parties. The CFMEU, MBAV and other employer associations are legitimately engaged in providing training to industry and it is hereby agreed that all parties will properly recognise and accept the validity of nationally accredited training as provided by the other parties. e) The parties will consult on the development of training programs which are consistent with the following: • Training provided will be consistent with the company’s business requirements, relevant to the work of the employees, consistent with the skills development of each employee and with applicable national competency standards. • Training may be taken either on or off the job with all reasonable steps being taken to conduct training in normal working hours. • If an approved training activity is undertaken during ordinary working hours, the employee/s concerned shall not suffer any loss of pay. • Approved training activities undertaken outside of ordinary hours will be paid at single time or will, at the employee’s option, be taken as time off in lieu of payment. Provided that the scheduling of time off must be consistent with the needs of the business and be by agreement with the company. • Training costs of courses approved by the company will be met by the company. • The company will not be asked to meet the costs of training undertaken by employees which was not approved by the company. • Leave of absence granted pursuant to this clause shall count as service for all purposes of the award and this agreement. • Accredited members of the union will be allowed up to 5 days per year, without loss of pay, to attend trade union educational courses conducted or approved by the union. (see appendix H) f) The parties to this Agreement recognise the importance of the role that Apprentices/Trainees fulfill within the industry and, more importantly, a role that they will fulfill as trades persons following the conclusion of the indentures. To this end the Victorian Building Industry Consultative Committee will investigate ways of enhancing employment prospects for Apprentice/Trainees. In addition it is agreed that, where appropriate, employers will use their best endeavours to employ Apprentices/Trainees in order to ensure appropriate trade persons levels for the future.

  • Department Seniority Department seniority is defined as continuous length of service in calendar days within the employee’s department and where applicable, shall be used for internal department processes, such as vacation and schedule bids.

  • Classification Seniority Classification Seniority" is defined as the length of service in a specific job classification within the bargaining unit, beginning with the date an employee starts to serve a probationary appointment. Classification Seniority shall be interrupted only by separation because of resignation, discharge for just cause, failure to return upon expiration of a leave of absence, failure to respond to a recall from layoff, or retirement.
