MAINTENANCE OF TRAFFIC. A. In the event that any of the work is conducted within any public right of way, the CONTRACTOR shall provide proper Maintenance of Traffic (MOT). Unless otherwise specified, the standard specifications to be used for the Service will be the strictest and latest edition as promulgated by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) or the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).

MAINTENANCE OF TRAFFIC. It is the explicit intention of the contract is that safety is the most important consideration. It is understood and agreed that the Contractor shall provide for the free and unobstructed movement of aircraft in the air operations areas of the airport with respect to his/her own operations and the operations of all his/her subcontractors as specified in the subsection titled LIMITATION OF OPERATIONS of Section 80. It is further understood and agreed that the Contractor shall provide for the uninterrupted operations of visual and electronic signals (including power supplies thereto) used in the guidance of aircraft while operating to, from, and upon the airport as specified in the subsection titled CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY FOR UTILITY SERVICE AND FACILITIES OF OTHERS in Section 70. With respect to his/her own operations and the operations of all his/her subcontractors, the Contractor shall provide marking, lighting, and other acceptable means of identifying: personnel; equipment; vehicles; storage areas; and any work area or condition that may be hazardous to the operation of aircraft, fire-rescue equipment, or maintenance vehicles at the airport. When the contract requires the maintenance of vehicular traffic on an existing road, street, or highway during the Contractor's performance of work that is otherwise provided for in the contract, plans, and specifications, the Contractor shall keep such road, street, or highway open to all traffic and shall provide such maintenance as may be required to accommodate traffic. The Contractor shall furnish erect, and maintain barricades, warning signs, flagmen, and other traffic control devices in reasonable conformity with the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Streets and Highways (published by the United States Government Printing Office), unless otherwise specified herein. The Contractor shall also construct and maintain in a safe condition any temporary connections necessary for ingress to and egress from abutting property or intersecting roads, streets or highways. Unless otherwise specified herein, the Contractor will not be required to furnish snow removal for such existing road, street, or highway. MAINTENANCE OF TRAFFIC. Maintenance of Pedestrian Traffic: Maintenance of Railroad Traffic: Maintenance of Vehicular Traffic: X Temporary Road(s): Phase A to Recommend: Temporary Road Plans & Notes by: County Consultant Detour Plan Prepared by: County Consultant X During the construction of the improvements, it is currently presumed that the road will be detoured to traffic and that local traffic maintained at all times. To the satisfaction of and subject to the Township’s review and approval, a tentative outline for the sequence of construction, a maintenance of traffic plan and/or maintenance of traffic notes in sufficient detail for the proper control of traffic through the project, especially involving ingress to and egress from the abutting properties within the project area shall be prepared. As may be applicable during the preparation of the plans, the Consultant shall work with the Township and Engineer to determine if alternative methods of handling traffic would be warranted and desirable during the construction of the project. These measures may include, but not be limited to, the detouring of all through traffic while maintaining local traffic or the maintaining of through traffic on a one-way only basis. If the Engineer authorizes other methods, the Consultant will work with the Engineer to determine if special restrictions are to be enforced during the implementation of the alternate measure(s), i.e. a total time duration, a daily time/hour restriction, etc. The Consultant will also work with the Engineer’s Traffic Department to determine the detour route and prepare the necessary detour plan(s). As necessary for the alternative measures, the Consultant is to prepare a tentative outline for the sequence of construction, a maintenance of traffic plan and/or maintenance of traffic notes in sufficient detail for the proper control of traffic through the project, especially involving ingress to and egress from the abutting properties within the project area. This item of work shall also include the preparation of any necessary plans that indicate temporary work zone pavement markings and/or signs that are to be included in the project, especially where the number of traveled lanes and/or the width of traveled pavement are to be decreased during construction. All items of work relating to the maintenance of traffic are to be submitted with the final plan review submission.
MAINTENANCE OF TRAFFIC. All safety precautions shall be taken and all traffic controls shall be furnished satisfactorily to the CITY and/or government agencies having jurisdiction, where partial or complete obstruction of highways, roadways, streets, drives or sidewalks is required in the performance of the work.

All work shall be performed in a manner that will reasonably provide the least practicable obstruction to all road users, including vehicular, pedestrian, and bicycle traffic, and shall conform to the requirements of the Delaware Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), part 6, including revisions up to the date of advertisement for bids.
MAINTENANCE OF TRAFFIC. The contractor shall be responsible for the proper maintenance, control, and detour of traffic in the area of construction during the course of construction. All traffic control and maintenance procedures shall be in accordance with the requirements of Volusia County or the Florida Department of Transportation “Manual of Traffic Control of Safe Practices for Streets and Highway Construction, Maintenance, and Utility Operations.” It shall be the contractor’s responsibility, as bidder, prior to submitting its bid, to determine these requirements so that its proposal reflects all costs to be incurred. No claims for additional payment will be considered for costs incurred in the proper maintenance, control, detour, and protection of traffic.

MAINTENANCE OF TRAFFIC. The CONSULTANT will evaluate alternatives for constructability and the ability to maintain traffic during construction according to Part 2, Chapter 3 of the PD&E Manual. The CONSULTANT will include the estimated cost to maintain traffic in the construction cost estimate for the Project alternative.
MAINTENANCE OF TRAFFIC. The Contractor shall furnish traffic control devices, take protective and safety measures, and complete the Work. If the Contractor fails to do so, the Project Manager will notify the Contractor in writing of the deficiency and the Contractor shall take corrective action within the time frame specified by the Project Manager. Failure by the Contractor to take the corrective action as directed by the Project Manager shall result in the T/LPA assessing to the Contractor the incurred costs for the corrections plus an additional 10% for administrative costs. The Contractor shall not endanger the traveling public when moving Equipment on or across the ROW and Roadway. The Contractor’s Equipment shall enter and leave the ROW and Roadway in the direction of the Traveled Way, except with the written approval of the Project Manager. The Project Manager may direct the Contractor to maintain the pavement surface. The T/LPA will pay for this Work in accordance with Section 109.5, “Payment for Extra Work.” The T/LPA is responsible for snow removal on sections of Roadway open to the traveling public unless some other agency has responsibility for its removal. The Project Manager will coordinate snow removal with the Contractor and the maintenance patrol. The Contractor shall furnish warning devices, take protective and safety measures, and complete Shoulder Work, drainage Structures, or other features of the Work. If the Contractor fails to do so, the Project Manager will notify the Contractor in writing of the deficiency and the Contractor shall take corrective action within the time frame specified by the Project Manager. The Contractor shall provide reasonable vehicular and pedestrian ingress and egress to adjoining properties during the duration of the Contract. The Contractor shall advise and schedule access modifications with local business owners and residences and the Project Manager at least 24 hours in advance. The Contractor shall not open partially completed sections of the Traveled Way unless directed or approved by the Project Manager. If the Traveled Way is opened at the Contractor’s request, the Contractor remains liable for costs associated with the opening until Final Acceptance of the Project. The Project Manager will provide written instructions approving any sections which are to be opened. Such an opening shall not constitute a full or partial Acceptance of the Work or a waiver of any Contract provisions.
MAINTENANCE OF TRAFFIC. 4.8.1 CONTRACTOR’S operations shall be in accordance with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, Latest Edition. These operations shall cause no unnecessary inconvenience to the public and public access rights shall be considered at all times. Unless otherwise authorized in the Specifications or on a temporary basis by PM/CM, traffic shall be permitted to pass through the Work area. CONTRACTOR shall coordinate with the various agencies to include governmental, commercial and public, so that adequate services are maintained.
