Casual Staff. 12.2.1 An employee engaged for a period of 1200 hours or less in any year (measured from the anniversary date of the employee’s commencement of employment) may be engaged as a casual employee on an hourly contract of employment and such employee shall be entitled to be paid a loading of 20%, in addition to the ordinary time hourly rate calculated from the salaries prescribed in Appendix 4 of this Agreement. 12.2.2 The 20% loading compensates the casual employee for the non‐ applicability of leave entitlements (other than Long Service Leave where applicable) and payment for public holidays not worked. 12.2.3 A casual employee shall be entitled to overtime or penalty payments 1. Overtime and penalty rates for casual employees shall be applied to the hourly rate which includes the 20% loading. For existing employees, the accrual of the 1200 hours for the purposes of incremental progression described above will commence retrospectively from the date of commencement of the employee concerned. 12.2.5 A casual employee’s rights for non‐attendance at work for the purposes of caring responsibilities shall be in accordance with Clause 3.1.2.5 of the South Australian Municipal Salaried Officers Award.

Casual Staff. ‌ (a) Casual staff are those employees who are hired to work in the centre as casual. (b) Casual employees shall receive four percent (4%) of gross wages on each paycheque in lieu of scheduled vacation. (c) When a casual employee is hired into a regular position, the date of hire shall be the date upon which they commence the regular position. (d) Casual employees are not covered by Articles 12 Hiring, 11 Probations, 13 Layoff and Recall, 16 Annual Vacations, 17 Designated Holidays, 19.3 Leave of Absence, 20.5 Paid Sick Leave Entitlement, 20.7 Extended Sick Leave, 20.8 Sick Leave for Illness of a Child, 23 Seniority, and 26 Health and Welfare. (e) Leave granted under Article 19 Maternity and Paternity Leave and Article 15 Leave of Absence, shall be without pay and without EI top-up.

Casual Staff. Casual status will be recognized as follows: a) A casual part-time staff member works on an irregular "on call" short notice basis, up to forty-eight (48) hours in a bi-weekly pay period, and who can elect to accept or decline a shift. Except as otherwise provided herein, the casual staff member shall have all rights as part-time staff members. b) For greater clarity, the principal difference between part-time and causal-staff members is that part-time staff members are regularly scheduled. c) Call-in shifts shall be offered to all full-time and part-time staff members, by seniority, in accordance with Article 12.13 prior to being offered by seniority to casual staff members. d) The probation period for a casual-staff member shall be a total of four hundred and fifty (450) hours. e) Casual employees who are presently employed shall maintain their current seniority as of the signing of this Settlement, converted to hours, except that effective on signing these casual employees shall earn seniority on all hours paid such that fourteen hundred (1400) hours equals one (1) year of seniority.

Casual Staff. 29.01 Except where specified otherwise, all Articles of the Collective Agreement will apply to casual employees. (a) Casual employees will be considered probationary until they have completed 1040 hours worked or been employed at the Society for one (1) year, whichever occurs first. An employee will be notified in writing that he/she has completed his/her probationary service. If such notification is not received upon the date of completion of said probationary period, the employee shall be deemed to have completed his/her probationary period. Where two (2) or more employees commenced work on the same day, the parties will mutually agree to a method of lottery to determine their placement on the seniority list. (b) If the employee is judged unsatisfactory by the Society within the period of probation, that person’s employment may be terminated without the right to file a grievance under this Agreement. (a) A casual employee is an employee who is engaged to work irregular intervals on an as needed basis and is scheduled twenty-four (24) hours or less per week. Following the scheduling of all permanent employees, hours of work for casual employees shall be determined in accordance with the needs of the Society and their availability forms. Casual employees must file completed monthly availability forms with the Society no later than end of the business day on the fifteenth (15th) of each month. (b) It is the expectation of the Society that casual employees shall be available for a minimum of two full weekends per month, assigned based on seniority. Casual employees wishing to work more than two (2) full weekends per month shall advise the Society in writing on their availability form. For scheduling purposes, casual employees shall indicate their weekend schedule preferences on a semi-annual basis in rank order in November and May of each year. The Society will post the mandatory schedule by December 15th and June 15th of each year. The Society shall endeavour to schedule the required weekends based on the ranked preferences provided by the employee. (c) Casual staff may ‘give away’ a scheduled Sunday shift to another Casual worker. Should either employee, for any reason, no longer be able to fulfill their commitment the schedule will revert back to the original schedule. Casual Staff. 14.1 A non-ongoing Staff member engaged for duties that are irregular or intermittent in nature will be paid for the actual hours worked, based on the appropriate salary rate as indicated at Attachment A plus a 20 per cent loading in lieu of all paid leave and accruals (excluding Long Service Leave) and public holidays on which they do not work.
Casual Staff. 24.1 The employment of a casual employee may be terminated without notice by either the employee or employer subject to the payment of the minimum amount of wages and subject to the employee working the time covered by the payment of such wages. 24.2 Casual employees under this Agreement shall be paid a loading of 20% on the applicable hourly rate in lieu of leave entitlements. 24.3 In the event that permanent staff either request or are required to be employed as casuals performing duties consistent with those of a different position to that under which they are employed, then: 24.3.1. in performing those duties, the employee shall be paid at the going rate paid by the Centre for such duties; 24.3.2. the hours worked performing those duties shall count as hours in their own right and shall be paid as such, and shall not be included in the additional hours an employee may work in the normal course of their employment without incurring overtime payments.
Casual Staff. 27.7.1 It is not the intention of the University to utilise casual staff (as defined at Clause 3 Definitions) to fill positions that could be reasonably filled on a continuing or fixed term basis. 27.7.2 Staff members engaged on a casual basis shall be paid a rate of pay calculated on an hourly rate plus a 20 per cent loading in lieu of all leave entitlements. Effective from 1 Jan 2006 the loading will increase to 23 per cent 27.7.3 An essential feature of casual employment is that there is no expectation of continuing employment. Casual employment may be terminated by either party by giving at least one hour's notice. 27.7.4 Casual staff members may apply for positions advertised internally. Casual staff members may only be engaged beyond 576 ordinary hours per annum if they have successfully applied for an advertised continuing or fixed term position.
