Medical Waiver Option. ‌ 1. Full-time teachers may waive their right to medical insurance for one (1) full benefit year (September 1 through August 31). Teachers waiving this right will receive a lump sum payment on the first pay period following the completion that benefit year in accordance with the following schedule: Full-time teachers waiving individual coverage $1000 Full-time teacher waiving family coverage $1500 2. In the event of a change in the need for coverage due to a major life event causing the loss of the teacher's alternate source of insurance during the waiver year (death, change in marriage status, loss of job), the teacher may reinstate coverage effective the first day of the following month without having to meet any pre-existing condition requirement provided he/she has filed the proper application card with the office of the Treasurer. Such re-entry into the insurance program will nullify the bargaining unit member from receiving the Health Care Insurance Waiver payment as originally declared. 3. Should a teacher elect to participate in the program, the teacher must complete the waiver of coverage form by August 1 or the first day of employment, whichever comes last of each year. Participation shall require completion of the form each year. A teacher who withdraws from the program may not re-enter again until the following year, except for the conditions established in paragraph two, above. 4. This waiver of coverage option is not available when both spouses are employed by the Rossford Board of Education.

Medical Waiver Option. Effective July 1, 2016, the District shall pay two hundred ($200.00) monthly to employees who are eligible to participate in the District-selected health and dental insurance plans, but opt to decline such coverage. The District must provide ninety (90) days written notice to the Union of any proposed change in insurance plans with an opportunity to meet and confer.
Medical Waiver Option. An employee who provides proof of adequate comparable group medical coverage, provided by a previous employer or a spouse/registered domestic partner or a parent/legal guardian, may opt to waive enrollment in the City’s medical health insurance plan and instead receive a monthly payment of eight hundred and eleven dollars ($811.00) in cash-back or the employee may opt to have the amount, or any portion of the amount, deposited into a Deferred Compensation Plan, up to the legal limits. Effective August 1, 2019, the medical waiver option shall be reduced as follows:  For employees hired prior to August 1, 2019, the monthly payment shall be eight hundred dollars ($800.00).  For employees hired on or after August 1, 2019, the monthly payment shall be four hundred dollars ($400.00).
Medical Waiver Option. Bargaining unit members may waive their right to medical insurance and may elect to receive a waiver (opt out). The waiver shall be offered in the context of Section 125 of the internal revenue code and all rules pertaining to it. Bargaining Unit members who are eligible for the health insurance opt out as provided by the district shall inform the Treasurer of their intent during Section 125 open enrollment. These members shall then receive opt out not to exceed $2,000. This opt out will be granted each year so long as the individual is not reinstated in the Board medical plan. Once a bargaining unit member opts out of the insurance and accepts such waiver, the bargaining unit member understands they cannot be reinstated into the district’s insurance plan unless that person has a life altering event such as, but not limited to: marriage, retirement, loss of coverage from another carrier, death, etc.

Employees electing not to participate in the District's medical insurance plan pursuant to this section and who show proof of health insurance coverage with another policy may receive a cash payment equal to eighty percent (80%) of the employee-only premium for the least expensive medical plan option offered by the District.

Such alternative health plan coverage must be verified initially and thereafter on an annual basis through presentation of a valid medical insurance card, or other reasonable means of verification as approved by the City Manager. Alternative health plan coverage must be maintained until the next available CITY open enrollment period.

This monthly payment is as follows: Effective July 1, 2016 the payment shall be six hundred dollars ($600.00). Effective December 1, 2016 the payment shall be equal to the most current employee only maximum contribution amount ($735.00 as of December 1, 2016).

Alternative medical plan coverage must be maintained until the City’s next available open enrollment period. 16.5.1 For employees hired on or before June 30, 2016, who are on a medical waiver as of January 1, 2019: 16.5.2 For employees hired on or before June 30, 2016 who are not on a medical waiver as of January 1, 2019 and all employees hired on or after July 1, 2016: The medical waiver option is three hundred dollars ($300.00) paid to the employee each month.

Upon the implementation of the Cafeteria Plan, an employee who elects to take the Medical Waiver Option may still chose to participate in a City sponsored vision, dental, and/or supplemental insurance plan, but shall be responsible for all payments, through payroll deductions, of any premiums for such plans selected, effective starting on July 1, 2016 and continuing thereafter.
