Overloads. Overloads are voluntary assignments of a Regular, Contract, or Temporary Leave Replacement (TLR) unit member to additional instructional, counseling, librarianship, or other unit member duties beyond those required of a Full-time Academic Load. During a contractually authorized semester for Instructional Faculty unit members, overload refers to units exceeding fifteen (15) Calculated A Hours (CAHs) and/or their equivalent assignment.
Overloads a) As outlined in Article 16.04 g) a Teaching Faculty Member may undertake up to two (2) overload courses for an overload payment. By definition, an overload course is in addition to a Teaching Faculty Member’s normal workload.
b) The Xxxx will set the overload payment amount in relation to the nature and demands of the overload work, which will not be less than $7,000.00 per overload course.
Overloads. A full-time Exempt employee, with the permission of his/her supervisor, may be eligible to receive an “overload” payment for a project or assignment which is not part of, and is substantially different than the employee’s regular duties; such work is normally being performed for another department than the employee’s regular position. The overload must be for a specific time period and reason (such as teaching a course) and be for a defined amount of money. Any requests for an employee to receive an overload payment must be made in advance of the assignment and include all required approvals; no payment may be requested for work already completed. The period of time during which the overload assignment is performed must not interfere with the employee’s regular duties and must be performed outside of the employee’s normal work schedule.
Overloads. 6.30.1 All ranks of full-time faculty who are teaching a course on a paid overload basis will receive a stipend as shown below for courses beginning after these dates: July 1, 2014 $ 9,772 $ 4,886 July 1, 2015 $ 9,968 $ 4,984 July 1, 2016 $ 10,066 $ 5,033 January 1, 2017 $ 10,168 $ 5,084
6.30.2 Fall/Winter Session Courses
Overloads a. In the event that a qualified contract instructor cannot be found, the College may, with the faculty member's agreement, engage a full-time faculty member on an overload basis (e.g., provide reduced workload in a subsequent semester, or, if this is not possible, pay for the extra course at contract faculty rates). When a Responsible Administrator offers a full-time regular faculty member an overload after the start of the semester, to replace another instructor on an emergency basis in a course that the first instructor began but is unable to continue with, the faculty member accepting the overload will be paid a pro-rated amount at regular salary rates for the portion of the course taught, or, at the discretion of the Responsible Administrator, may be provided the option of taking a reduced workload in a subsequent semester equivalent to the faculty member’s having taught the entire overload course. The option of banking a full section will be limited to circumstances in which the replacement occurs within the first four (4) weeks of a course.
b. An overload is defined as bargaining unit ‘instructional’ work as defined in the Local Agreement, which is assigned to a regular faculty member, and which results in a workload in excess of 100% (eight sections/courses) of a regular workload.
c. In accordance with Article 12.5 of the 2014 – 2019 Common Agreement, a faculty member may elect compensation for overload work by taking a reduction of workload in a subsequent year that is commensurate with the amount of the overload. Reduction of workload must be taken no later than two (2) years from when the overload was completed.
d. At the time the overload is assigned, the faculty member must elect compensation or a reduction of workload in a subsequent year. The decision of the faculty member on this issue will be final.
Overloads. Faculty members who are requested by the College to teach a class above the normal load will be compensated as follows:
A. Semester hour – 1/30th of the base annual salary for each semester hour overload for the semester. However, any credit or contact hours that exceed the semester/yearly maximums (listed in 7.10A) but are needed to make a full teaching load, shall be paid at the extra-pay teaching rate or can be carried over to the next semester or academic year and be used to reduce the normal teaching loads during one of the semesters of that academic year. Where the teaching schedule allows, the Faculty member shall decide which of these options shall be used.
B. Extra Contact hour – 1/40th of the base annual salary for each contact hour overload for the semester. Librarians and counselors who are requested to work additional days above their normal annual contract (194, 213 or 225) will be compensated based on their daily rate of pay
Overloads.
30.01 In the event employees, in the scope of their employment, are arrested or ticketed with an overload, defective equipment, permit loads, or any other infraction of the law which was caused by the District, the District shall pay all fines and actual cost incurred, providing the employees have not loaded their cargo contrary to the instructions of the supervisor.
30.02 The employee shall not suffer a loss in pay for any infraction of the law caused by the District.
30.03 Employees shall be required to report, in writing, faulty equipment conditions.
Overloads a) As outlined in Article 16.05 f) a Teaching Faculty Member may undertake up to two
Overloads. Note: Additional provisions regarding Overloads are contained in the Common (provincial) Agreement dated April 1, 2007 to March 31, 2010. Such Overload provision is contained in Article 12.5 of the Common Agreement.
1. In the event that a qualified contract instructor cannot be found, the College may, with the faculty member's agreement, engage a full-time faculty member on an overload basis (e.g. reduced workload in subsequent semester, or, if not possible, paid for the extra course on an equivalent contract basis).
Overloads a. When the current staff is not adequate to cover the courses needed/requested by the students then teachers may be offered the opportunity to teach an additional class beyond their regularly scheduled course load. Participation/acceptance of the additional course is voluntary and teachers have the option to decline. Teachers whose regular schedule contains additional classes above their normal teaching assignment shall receive additional compensation. Compensation shall be paid according to the list below:
i. Full period for a full year: Employees current salary * 9%
ii. Full period for one semester: Employees current salary * 4.5%
iii. Any teacher whose schedule contains classes above their normal teaching assignment for a portion of a semester will be compensated at a rate of .001 times the number of days worked, times their annual teaching salary.
