PTO Requests. The process and parameters for requesting PTO will be governed by PTO guidelines in place for the applicable unit or department and incorporate the provisions outlined in this Article. 1. All requests for PTO may be submitted up to one (1) year in advance. 2. Such requests will be granted based on the date the request was submitted, provided the skills and abilities of the employee are not significant factors as determined by the Employer 3. Employees will not be required to have accrued all the PTO that they requesting at the time of approval provided that the employee seeking time off is expected to have sufficient PTO to cover the requested time. 4. Employees will be notified whether requested PTO is approved within 30 days of the request.
PTO Requests. An ―at risk‖ nurse must have 100% of the requested PTO in his/her bank at the time of the request. The nurse must submit with his/her PTO request (1) the amount of accrued PTO in the nurse’s PTO bank, and (2) the amount of PTO already designated for outstanding approved PTO requests. If the amount of requested PTO exceeds the difference between these two amounts, then the request will be denied. If the request is granted but the information provided is not accurate, the nurse may be subject to disciplinary action, which may include that the nurse’s PTO request is rescinded.

If a situations arises that prevents the employee from having all the PTO for their approved time off request, the employee shall notify the manager and meet with the manager, to discuss their time off, prior to the posting of the schedule in which the time off occurs. If, prior to the posting of the schedule in which the time off occurs, the employee does not have sufficient PTO to cover the time off, the manager may rescind the employee’s time off request. However, the time off may be permitted at the employer’s sole discretion. 4. Employees will be notified whether requested PTO is approved within 30 days of the request.

PTO Requests. Employees may submit PTO requests for any desired dates on a first come, first served basis, provided they have/will have the requested time available on the books. Requests will be subject to approval by supervisors/managers. Decisions by supervisors/managers will be based on review of the Programmed Flying Training (PFT) load at the time of the request or site training event(s). Once approved, changes of the PFT load is not justification to cancel already approved PTO time.

PRN Nurses are responsible to make the Unit Manager aware of their available dates the (10) days prior to the posting date for each schedule period. The District shall make a reasonable effort to accommodate PTO requests. PTO will be used to meet the position description of full-time or part-time. 3. PTO requests will be granted on a first-come, first-serve basis as documented in the request. Should the request be made on the same calendar day by multiple Nurses for the same PTO dates and the HospitalDistrict is unable to accommodate all the requests based on patient care needs, then PTO shall be granted by random selection. Nurses who are assigned a “rover position”) shall be scheduled their set schedules, including weekends, unless business operations necessitate a deviation from a Nurse’s set schedule, in which case the following shall apply: • Nurses will be consulted about any altered set schedule. • The HospitalDistrict may assign regular Nurses to work a modified set schedule by (1) first seeking qualified volunteers and then, (2) by assignment among qualified Nurses by beginning with the least senior regularly scheduled Nurse. If the least senior regularly scheduled Nurse has already had their set schedule altered within the past twelve-month period, the next least senior regularly scheduled Nurse will be assigned a modified set schedule. • If a Nurse is forced or agrees to change their set schedule, and the original set schedule becomes available again, that Nurse shall have right of first refusal of their prior set schedule, as long as scheduling certification requirements are not negatively impacted. • Holidays and Labor Day weekend scheduling will be governed by Article 4.11, and are not a part of Pattern (Set) Schedule. If Nurses request a change of schedule after the schedule is posted, the Nurse is responsible for finding a qualified replacement of equal certification (where applicable), and shall submit the suggested trade to the immediate supervisor in writing; such trades are not effective unless approved by the HospitalDistric in writing.
