Declare anything you become aware of through the course of your engagement with YMCA which a reasonable person would consider could impede your suitability to have contact with children and young people. • Act as an extended guardian towards children and young people where you have interactions and at all times take reasonable steps to prevent abuse and neglect. • Adhere to all policies and procedures relating to safeguarding children and young people and the code of conduct. • Complete a national/international police check prior to employment and at the discretion of the YMCA. • Complete a working with children check prior to commencement and maintain currency throughout employment. • Update your details whenever these change, with the relevant department administering the working with children check or equivalent in your state/territory of residence, as required by applicable laws . • Report any suspicions, concerns, allegations or disclosures of alleged child abuse/ neglect in line with procedures. • Participate in safeguarding children and young people training as directed. • Use standardised methods for receiving and responding to feedback and complaints from children, young people and their families. • Any new program initiatives are to include consultation with children and young people, using standardised practices and resources. • Maintain a working knowledge of policies and procedures relating to safeguarding children and young people. • Attend any other training legally mandated by your role in relation to safeguarding children and young people. • Actively promote cultural safety for children and young people from CALD, ATSI, LGBTQIA+ communities and those with disabilities. The RCGP/NSPCC Safeguarding Children Toolkit for General practice Royal College of General Practitioners Child Safeguarding Toolkit Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) FGM is a form of child abuse and violence against women and girls, and therefore should be dealt with as part of existing child and adult protection structures, policies and procedures. Further details regarding FGM can be found in the Government Multi-Agency Practice Guidelines for FGM. Child Sexual Exploitation Information may be shared under this agreement for the following purposes: • To facilitate best practice to provide a more integrated and coordinated approach to identified victims of Child Sexual Exploitation • To inform multi agency actions to prevent abuse occurring, disrupt perpetrator activity and secure evidence to support prosecutions, this may involve sharing intelligence gathered through the course of routine work, for example if a cohort of young people or vulnerable adults are found to have similar sexually transmitted infections or professionals involved are concerned about relationships in an area that could be potentially coercive. In adopting this partnership approach partners will work together to identify, support and safeguard children and young people and vulnerable adults who are vulnerable to sexual exploitation from those who are intent on abusing them. Safeguarding Children and Young People. (i) The “Consultant” acknowledges that has received a copy of, and has read and understood, Plan International’s Safeguarding Children and Young People Policy and supporting and briefing materials describing Plan International’s commitment to child and youth safeguarding (the ‘Safeguarding Policy’).
(ii) The Consultant shall (and shall ensure that any sub-contractor or sub-grantee of it in relation to this Agreement (the ‘Relevant Party’) shall) at all times and in all circumstances abide by the Safeguarding Policy during the term of this agreement.
(iii) The Consultant represents and warrants that neither it nor any Relevant Party nor any of its or their directors, employees or consultants has been involved or is suspected or has ever been suspected of involvement in an incident of abuse of a child or young person, whether as described in the Safeguarding Policy or otherwise in such a way that compromises or compromised the safety of a child or young person.
(iv) If at any time during the term of this agreement, it comes to the attention of the Consultant or any Relevant Party that the Consultant or any Relevant Party has been involved or is suspected or has ever been suspected of involvement in an incident of abuse of a child or young person, whether as described in the Safeguarding Policy or otherwise in such a way that compromises or compromised the safety of a child or young person, then:
(a) the Consultant shall immediately (and at the latest within 12 hours of becoming aware) report such incident or suspicion to its contact at Plan as specified in this Agreement; and
(b) the Consultant shall immediately remove any Relevant Party or person to whom the report relates from any work or contractual relationship with Plan International.
(v) Any breach of this clause and/or the Safeguarding Policy shall constitute a material breach of this Agreement and shall entitle Plan International (in its sole and absolute discretion) to terminate this Agreement immediately and without notice and to take such other appropriate action as Plan International shall in its sole and absolute discretion determine, including (but without limitation) requesting the removal of any relevant party or any of the Consultant’s or any Relevant Party’s directors, employees or consultants from any work or contractual relationship with Plan; reporting any incident to the police or other appropriate child or youth protection body; or instituting legal proceedings for damages against the ...
Safeguarding Children and Young People. The RCGP/NSPCC Safeguarding Children Toolkit for General Practice 2014 Early Help referrals are usually made with parent/carer consent but consent is not required in cases where failure to share information could result in the situation deteriorating.
