Salary Placement and Advancement a) The minimum requirement for placement in Column I of the schedule is the possession of an appropriate California Teaching or Services Credential and a Bachelor’s Degree. b) The minimum requirements for initial placement or advancement to Column II are possession of a Teaching Credential plus thirty (30) or more upper division or graduate semester credits earned subsequent to the Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited college or university and an appropriate California Teaching or Services Credential. Semester credits must meet the criteria set forth in Section 6. c) The minimum requirements for initial placement or advancement to Column III are possession of an appropriate California Teaching or Services Credential and an earned Bachelor’s Degree plus forty-five (45) or more upper division or graduate semester credits earned subsequent to the Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited college or university. Semester credits must meet the criteria set forth in Section 6. d) The minimum requirements for initial placement or advancement to Column IV are possession of an appropriate California Teaching or Services Credential and an earned Bachelor’s Degree plus sixty (60) or more upper division or graduate semester credits earned subsequent to the Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited college or university or an earned Master’s Degree or Doctorate Degree. Semester credits must meet the criteria set forth in Section 6. e) The minimum requirements for initial placement or advancement to Column V are possession of an appropriate California Teaching or Services Credential and an earned Bachelor’s Degree plus seventy-five (75) or more upper division or graduate semester credits earned subsequent to the Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally Degree or a Doctorate Degree. Semester credits must meet the criteria set forth in Section 6. f) In addition to appropriate placement on the salary schedule, if the following positions are authorized by the Superintendent/designee, the following maximum annual compensation may be granted for special qualifications and/or duties beyond the normal work day: 1. Associated Student Body (ASB) Advisor - $1000 or additional preparation time (at the discretion of the Superintendent/designee) 2. Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) Coordinator - $1000 or additional preparation time (at the discretion of the Superintendent/designee) 3. Salary Placement and Advancement. 1. All educators will be placed on the salary schedule appropriate to their prior teaching experience and degree(s)/credit hours earned. 2. Educators new to the District shall be given experience and training credit within the limits of the salary schedule with the following exceptions: a. Up to ten (10) years of prior teaching experience shall be granted. Credit beyond ten (10) years may be granted by the Superintendent or designee. b. Prior experience in private or parochial schools, colleges or universities, interim periods away from teaching, and other relevant factors shall be evaluated by the Superintendent or designee on their own merit and credit granted as deemed appropriate. c. Evidence of professional growth may be required as verification that previously- earned hours of credit remain relevant. 3. Educators qualifying for educational advancement on the salary schedule must submit a written request along with verification by the first (1st) calendar day of the month for salary to be modified that month. All such modification shall be retroactive to the first day of the month in which the credits were submitted. 4. College hours submitted for educational advancement must have been earned subsequent to the education degree or certification to teach, and except for lower division hours approved as part of an education improvement plan, must be upper division or graduate level hours. All such hours must be reasonably related to the educator’s instructional assignment or to a field of study normally included in the public curriculum. 5. For the 2018-19, 2019-20 and 2020-21 school years, vertical step advancement shall occur July 1, for all eligible bargaining unit members.

Effective July 1, 2022, educators employed in the District in Registered Nurse, School Psychologist, Speech Language Pathologist, Clinical Social Worker, Physical Therapist, and Occupational Therapist positions with a master’s degree shall have their salaries based on the MA+45 column with step placement at the appropriate experience level. Employees in these roles with a bachelor’s degree will be placed at the BA+60 column with step placement at the appropriate experience level. 3. Educators qualifying for educational advancement on the salary schedule must submit a written request along with verification by the first (1st) calendar day of the month for salary to be modified that month. All such modifications to an educator’ salary placement shall be retroactive to the first day of the month in which the credits were submitted. 4. Educational advancement on the salary schedule is obtained by completing graduate level credits after earning a bachelor’s degree or master’s degree. All credits must be reasonably related to the educator’s instructional assignment or to a field of study normally included in the public curriculum. 5. Educators hired prior to July 1, 2025 believing they were not credited with the appropriate number of graduate credits for salary schedule placement at the time of their hire shall be eligible to request an audit to review their salary placement by March 15, 2025 with the Human Resources Department. Any salary adjustments made based on the review will be effective July 1, 2025.

College hours submitted for educational advancement must have been earned subsequent to the education degree or license to teach, and, except for lower division hours approved as a part of an education improvement plan, must be upper division or graduate level hours. All such hours must be reasonably related to the teacher's instructional assignment or licensure, or to a field of study that is included as part of an administratively approved professional growth plan. 5. Teachers who earn a doctorate degree shall receive an annual doctorate stipend. The stipend shall be $2,500 for 2017-18 school year, and shall increase by the agreed-upon COLA increase for each successive year.

It is recognized that they may have an ADN or BSN (BSN will be placed at BA+24). b. The placement decision includes i. Years of service as a nurse. ii. Number of times the nurse has had to recertify to maintain her license. The required CEUs are figured as 20 CEUs=1 graduate hour. 2. Advancement after employment a. Treat graduate hours the same as graduate hours for teachers. b. If an ADN moves to a BSN, Article 7.C.2.c. applies and permits advancement with undergraduate hours, up to 24 hours. c. CEUs continue as 20=1 graduate hour and can apply for advancement. d. Advanced Certificates can be used to apply for impact points.
