SENIORITY AND PROMOTION. (a) Promotion of employees are covered by this Agreement will extend over the Toronto Terminals Railway Company, as set out in this Article, and will be governed by merit, fitness, and ability; where these are sufficient the senior employee will be given preference.

SENIORITY AND PROMOTION. 8.01 Seniority shall mean the length of time an employee is employed by the Company from the most recent date of hire, and, after completion of the probationary period, shall accumulate from such date of hire.

SENIORITY AND PROMOTION. A. Transportation employee seniority is limited to the transportation department. Seniority earned does not qualify employees for promotion in the remaining food service department. All vacancies that become available in the other departments will be posted to transportation employees according to the currently established posting procedures. Transportation employees will be given consideration for positions prior to the employment of outside personnel.
SENIORITY AND PROMOTION. A seniority list of Employees covered by this Agreement shall be posted by the Employer annually in January each year. Such list shall show the names and dates of last entry into Employer's service, from which dateseniority shall accumulate. Protests in regard to seniority status must be submitted, in writing, within sixty (60) days of publication of lists. When proof of error is presented by an Employee or Representative, such error will be corrected and when so corrected the agreed upon seniority date shall be final. An Employee transferred or promoted to a position which is excluded from the bargaining unit shall, in the event of subsequent return to the unit within twelve months, be reinstated on the seniority list as if he had remained in the bargaining unit. If such an Employee returns to the bargaining unit after twelve (12) months following transfer or promotion, seniority date shall be the date of return to the bargaining unit. An Employee who has been discharged and is subsequently reinstated in the service in a position covered by this Agreement, unless reinstated with former seniority will only be allowed seniority from the date of re-entry into the service. An Employee who is not reinstated with former seniority standing within one (1) year of the date of discharge may only be so reinstated by agreement between the proper Officer of the Employer and the Alliance Representative. An Employee who resigns or is discharged for just cause shall forfeit all seniority rights under this Agreement. When two (2) or more Employees are hired by the Employer on the same calendar date, the Employee whose surname is first alphabetically will be shown as such on the seniority list.
SENIORITY AND PROMOTION. 8.01 New employees will serve a probationary period of sixty (60) working days before acquiring seniority rights. If an employee works four (4) hours in any given day, then this will be counted as a day worked with regard to their probation period. Seniority will then date back to their starting date with the Company.
