Sick/Disability Leave. An employee who is unable to work regularly because of a long-term major personal illness or disability which would qualify under the Family Medical Leave Act and who has exhausted all sick leave available shall be deemed on leave of absence without pay for the duration of such illness or disability, but no longer than twelve months (12). A request for an extension of the leave may be made to the Superintendent at least one month prior to the end of the approved leave. Medical proof of illness or disability is required.

Sick/Disability Leave. Except as provided in Paragraph 9.8 (b), in the event of a sickness or disability leave of absence, the City shall continue to pay the premium or provide coverage for the health insurance, optical insurance, life insurance, dental insurance, and disability insurance for any month for which an employee receives actual compensation from the City.
Sick/Disability Leave. The purpose of sick/disability leave utilization, except as provided elsewhere in this contract, shall be for personal illness, disability (including pregnancy disability) or for legally established quarantine. (See also Maternity/Paternity Leave, Family Illness). Unit members who are employed full time shall accrue one day of sick leave for every eighteen days of regularly scheduled service. Unit members who work less than full time shall accrue sick leave in the same ratio that their employment bears to full time employment. During a school year, unit members shall accrue sick leave for extended year/summer school/intersession based upon the following formula: ▪ 100 plus or more hours earns one (1) sick leave day ▪ 75-99 hours earns ¾ sick leave day ▪ 50-74 hours earns ½ sick leave day ▪ 25-49 hours earns ¼ sick leave day Sick leave days accrued by a unit member may be utilized during summer school/intersession(s) at the rate of one day of sick leave for each duty day. Allowable sick leave credit for any one school year need not be accrued prior to being taken by the unit member during said year. Such leave may be taken at any time during the school year when the unit member actually is unable to perform duties. A unit member who terminates employment prior to earning sick leave taken in advance of accrual shall have the appropriate amount deducted from his/her final check. Earned or accumulated sick leave shall not be considered as vacation, nor shall a unit member be reimbursed for unused sick leave at the time of separation, except as provided in Education Code for purposes of retirement. Certificated Contract Xxxx leave shall not be transferable from one unit member’s accumulated balance to that of another employee except under extenuating circumstances with District and OMTA agreement and prior approval.

Sick/Disability Leave. Sick leave is categorized into two types of leaves: one for short- term sick leave and the second for long-term sick/disability leave. The short-term leave includes maternity leave, which applies to pregnancy and childbirth, including pre-partum/post-partum care and recovery. Pregnant employees are expected to work prior to childbirth until their physician provides Medical Certification of necessity. Other short term sick leave is for personal illness, injury, or related medical conditions of the employee for which the length of absence per occurrence is 90 calendar days or less. Should the length of absence extend beyond 90 calendar days, the member's leave may then continue under the long-term sick/disability leave. The long- term sick/disability leave applies to employees who have completed at least one-year of employment and includes personal illness, injury, pregnancy, childbirth or related medical conditions of the employee for which the length of absence per occurrence extends beyond 90 calendar days. Unauthorized or apparent abuse of sick leave may be grounds for disciplinary action.

  • Maternity Disability Leave 14.1.13.1 This leave commences with the onset of disablement due to pregnancy. The employee may claim sick leave pay and/or extended disability pay for no more than that limited period of time when the employee’s physician certified in writing on the form provided by the District that she was actually physically disabled from performing her duties because of pregnancy, miscarriage, childbirth, or recovery there from.

  • Pregnancy Disability Leave A. Leave for pregnancy or childbirth related disability is in addition to any leave granted under FMLA or WFLA.

  • Disability Leave a. An employee who has suffered possible injury in the performance of assigned duties shall immediately undergo such medical examination as the appointing authority deems necessary. He/she shall not be considered absent from duty during the time required for such examination.

  • Extended Disability Leave a. Due to a medical disability, an employee shall be granted an extended leave of absence without pay (subject to Paragraph d hereof) if any one of the following conditions exists:
