Aston’s retention and employability record remains amongst the best in the country, but we are committed to improving this, recognising that with a major change in the level of loans to be repaid, failing to complete a degree becomes an even greater worry for students and families. We are setting ourselves ambitious stretch targets for retention and employability (see Table 5a), because we see this as the best way to build on Aston’s expertise in these areas and provide students, particularly from under- represented groups, with a strong start in their professional life. ii. From 2012/13 Aston is committed to offering further specific support for student retention by appointing additional teaching and academic staff in our academic Schools to maintain our staff-student ratio. This will supplement existing academic personal tutors, and student engagement initiatives to identify where students need additional support in their academic and personal lives. The University’s learning and teaching committee has developed a Personal Tutor Policy including proactive interventions at key transition points in student learning. We have increased the level of support in the Learning Development Centre, providing year round maths support, writing cafes, and support for statistics. The Stats Cafe is facilitated by student mentors, building on the model of our highly successful writing mentor programme. x. Xxxxx has over 1,000 active student peer mentors working with other Aston students in earlier years. We aim to increase this number by 2015-16 and continue to offer mentoring to all undergraduates and postgraduates throughout the student lifecycle vi. We will build on our innovative Engineering CDIO interactive learning programme and our intercultural communication workshops across all four academic Schools. vii.   • Orientation and In-Service Program The Hospital recognizes the need for a Hospital Orientation Program of such duration as it may deem appropriate taking into consideration the needs of the Hospital and the nurses involved.

  • Development Program RWJPRI shall be [**] and have [**] in consultation with the JDAC, to select LICENSED COMPOUNDS which shall then be designated PRODUCTS for further DEVELOPMENT by RWJPRI and marketing by ORTHO and its AFFILIATES. RWJPRI shall provide KOSAN with written notice of its decision to select a LICENSED COMPOUND for DEVELOPMENT. Once a PRODUCT has been selected for further DEVELOPMENT, RWJPRI, with the advice of the JDAC, shall have the [**] right to develop the PRODUCT through STAGES O, I, II and III and shall have the [**] right to prepare and file, and shall be the owner of, all applications for MARKETING AUTHORIZATION throughout the world. During such DEVELOPMENT efforts, KOSAN will assist RWJPRI as may be mutually agreed, at RWJPRI's expense, in chemical development, formulation development, production of labeled material and production of sufficient quantities of material for STAGE O and initial STAGE I studies. RWJPRI shall exercise diligent efforts, commensurate with the efforts it would normally exercise for products with similar potential sales volume and consistent with its overall business strategy, in developing such PRODUCT in accordance with the DEVELOPMENT PLAN established by RWJPRI. In the course of such efforts RWJPRI shall, either directly or through an AFFILIATE or SUBLICENSEE to which the license shall have been extended, take appropriate steps including the following: (i) in consultation with the JDAC, select certain LICENSED COMPOUNDS for STAGE O DEVELOPMENT; and (ii) establish and maintain a program reasonably designed, funded and resourced to obtain information adequate to enable the preparation and filing with an appropriate and properly empowered national regulatory authority all necessary documentation, data and [**] CERTAIN INFORMATION IN THIS EXHIBIT HAS BEEN OMITTED AND FILED SEPARATELY WITH THE COMMISSION.   • EVALUATION AND COMPARISON OF BIDS 29.1 The Employer will evaluate and compare only the Bids determined to be substantially responsive in accordance with Clause 26. 29.2 In evaluating the Bids, the Employer will determine for each Bid the evaluated Bid Price by adjusting the Bid Price as follows: (a) Making any correction for errors pursuant to Clause 27; or (b) Making an appropriate adjustments for any other acceptable variations, deviations; and (c) Making appropriate adjustments to reflect discounts or other price modifications offered in accordance with Sub Clause 22.5. 29.3 The Employer reserves the right to accept or reject any variation, deviation, or alternative offer. Variations, deviations, and alternative offers and other factors which are in excess of the requirements of the Bidding documents or otherwise result in unsolicited benefits for the Employer shall not be taken into account in Bid evaluation. 29.4 The estimated effect of the price adjustment conditions under Clause 47 of the Conditions of Contract, during the period of implementation of the Contract, will not be taken into account in Bid evaluation. 29.5 If the Bid of the successful Bidder is seriously unbalanced in relation to the Engineer’s estimate of the cost of work to be performed under the contract, the Employer may require the Bidder to produce detailed price analyses for any or all items of the Bill of Quantities, to demonstrate the internal consistency of those prices with the construction methods and schedule proposed. After evaluation of the price analyses, the Employer may require that the amount of the performance security set forth in Clause 34 be increased at the expense of the successful Bidder to a level sufficient to protect the Employer against financial loss in the event of default of the successful Bidder under the Contract. 30.   • Evaluation, Testing, and Monitoring 1. The System Agency may review, test, evaluate and monitor Grantee’s Products and services, as well as associated documentation and technical support for compliance with the Accessibility Standards. Review, testing, evaluation and monitoring may be conducted before and after the award of a contract. Testing and monitoring may include user acceptance testing. Neither the review, testing (including acceptance testing), evaluation or monitoring of any Product or service, nor the absence of review, testing, evaluation or monitoring, will result in a waiver of the State’s right to contest the Grantee’s assertion of compliance with the Accessibility Standards. 2. Grantee agrees to cooperate fully and provide the System Agency and its representatives timely access to Products, records, and other items and information needed to conduct such review, evaluation, testing, and monitoring.

  • Orientation Program The Company will allow a designated representative of the Local or Bargaining Unit up to one (1) hour per calendar month for the purpose of conducting the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union New Members’ Orientation Program. Such meetings will be conducted during the probationary period of employees, and will be held on Company premises. Employees participating in Orientation Program meetings during their normally scheduled working hours will not suffer loss of pay at their regular rate. Orientation Program meetings will be scheduled by Management and a Management representative may attend as an observer.

  • – ORIENTATION AND IN SERVICE 20.01 An orientation and in service program will be provided to all employees. These programs shall be reviewed and discussed from time to time by members of the Union-Management Committee. 20.02 A newly employed employee shall not be placed in charge, until she has been fully oriented to the home. 20.03 The following minimums shall be observed in the orientation/familiarization of a newly hired employee: (a) She is to be familiarized with the physical aspects of the building, the applicable policies and procedures of the Employer, and the daily routine of employees in the Home. (b) The period of orientation/familiarization shall be for a minimum of five (5) days or such greater period that the Employer deems necessary. (c) She shall be an additional employee to the usual staffing pattern. (d) The employee or employees involved in the orientation/familiarization will confirm that it has been completed, and this will be noted on the newly hired employee's personnel file, which will be reviewed with such employee, and the employee shall also be able to comment. (e) The employee may request up to three (3) additional days of paid orientation. When making her request, the employee will specify her learning needs and discuss with the Director of Care the development of the orientation learning plan. This request will not be unreasonably denied. (f) Notwithstanding the above, orientation/familiarization when an employee is transferred to a new unit/shift will be provided as required. (g) The Employer may, at its discretion, provide orientation in other circumstances. 20.04 Both the Employer and the Union recognize the joint responsibility and commitment to provide, and participate in, in-service education. The Union supports the principle of its members' responsibility for their own professional development and the Employer will endeavour to provide programmes related to the requirements of the Home. Programmes will be publicized and related material will be made readily accessible to staff in a timely manner. Any problems in accessing this information will be reported to the Union- Management Committee for resolution. (a) When an employee is required by the Employer to attend any in-service program or e-learning within the Home during her or his regularly scheduled working hours the employee shall suffer no loss of regular pay. (b) When an employee is required by the Employer to prepare for in service or to attend meetings, in service and other work related functions outside her regularly scheduled working hours, and the employee does attend same, she shall be paid for all time spent on such attendance at her regular straight time hourly rate of pay or at the employee's option, she shall receive equivalent time off. When an employee is required by the Employer to complete an e-learning programme outside her regularly scheduled working hours, she shall be paid for all time spent completing such learning at her regular straight time hourly rate of pay or at the employee's option, she shall receive equivalent time off. Part-time employees will be credited with seniority and service for all such hours paid as provided above while in attendance at in-services, meetings, and completing e-learning. (c) The Employer will endeavour where practical to schedule in-services at times which will facilitate the attendance of employees working outside the day shift. 20.06 When required by a certifying body to update an employee's qualifications, except where this matter is covered by another provision of the collective agreement, the Employer shall grant leave of absence without pay which shall include the time required to write any examinations. 20.07 The Employer undertakes to notify the Union in advance, so far as practicable, of any technological changes which the Employer has decided to introduce which will significantly change the employment status of the employee(s) within the bargaining unit. The Employer agrees to discuss with the Union the effect of such technological changes on the employment status of the employee(s) and to consider practical ways and means of minimizing the adverse effect, if any, on the employee(s) concerned. Employees who are subject to layoff due to technological change will then be given notice of such layoff at the earliest reasonable time and in keeping with the requirements of the applicable legislation and the provisions of Article 9.11 to

  • Professional Development Program (a) The parties agree to continue a Professional Development Program for the maintenance and development of the faculty members' professional competence and effectiveness. It is agreed that maintenance of currency of subject knowledge, the improvement of performance of faculty duties, and the maintenance and improvement of professional competence, including instructional skills, are the primary professional development activities of faculty members. (b) Information collected as part of this program shall be the sole property of the faculty member. This information or any judgments arising from this program shall not be used to determine non-renewal or termination of a faculty member's contract, suspension or dismissal of a faculty member, denial of advancement on the salary scale, nor affect any other administrative decisions pertaining to the promotion or employment status of the faculty member. (c) A joint advisory committee consisting of three regular faculty members who shall be elected by and are P.D. Committee Chairpersons and three administrators shall make recommendations for the operation, financing and management of the Professional Development Program.
