Student Seniority. Any student working in the store at the date of ratification shall be moved into their classification by seniority as part-time employees, subject to the following: (1) Students regularly attending classes at an authorized educational institution shall be considered to have restricted their availability. (2) The parties agree that employees who take one or two classes per week shall not be considered as students for restriction purposes. (3) Students that have restricted their availability shall be scheduled by seniority by classification within their restriction. (4) Students shall inform the Employer, using the restriction form, when it is established that they have ceased being a student and will not be resuming their studies in the next semester or school term. (5) Employees reverting to student status shall notify the employer, using the restriction form, when it is established that they will attend classes. (6) Students may not change their restriction of availability more than twice a calendar year. (7) It is understood that students shall not be available for certain shifts.

Student Seniority. Once a student is no longer enrolled in school, a student employee will proceed to regular employee status. As of the date the employee is no longer a student, the employee will receive seniority credit for one half of the employee’s time worked as a student. Students must provide the Employer with a letter stating the date they are finished with school.
Student Seniority. 1. A student is defined as any employee regularly attending High School, University, College, Vocational Institution or other educational institutions requiring attendance at scheduled classes. Students may be required to verify their attendance and class times. 2. Students shall be considered to have restricted their availability and shall be scheduled by seniority within their classification. 3. Employees shall inform the Employer using the “Student Status” form when: a) employees become or revert to student status, or b) it is established that they have ceased being a student and will not be resuming their studies in the next semester or school term, no exceptions. 4. All students, without exception, shall not change their status of availability more than three times per calendar year, (by semester). Students are required to notify management of changes to their availability, student status or restrictions no less than one (1) week in advance of the schedules being posted. 5. It is understood that students shall not be available for certain shifts, which may limit their ability to maximize their hours. Minimum shifts for all students are four consecutive hours. Students must be available for shifts when not attending classes, unless they have submitted a Declaration of Availability (Section 9.10). 6. Students may elect to work / be scheduled regular night stocking shifts in accordance with Section 9.24. 7. Students who wish to maximize their hours during their Christmas break, spring break (reading break) and summer break may temporarily lift their restriction during these time periods.

Students proceeding to part-time status shall be given credit for fifty percent (50%) of their student years for seniority purposes only once they have achieved full-time status in their classification. 2. Students transferring to part-time status will be the junior part-timer for seniority purposes. Once achieving full-time status, the student will be credited with fifty percent (50%) of the student time, eg.: Student: 4 years Part-time: Achieve Full-time: 3 years 3 years P.T. + 50% of 4 years as a student = 5 years' seniority as a full-time employee 3. Students who proceed to part-time status shall maintain their maximum twenty (20) hour protection right as described in the third paragraph of this sub-section. When more than one (1) student in a store ceases being a student at approximately the same time of year, the part-time seniority ranking among those persons will be the same as was their student seniority ranking in accordance with the above. (vi) The Union and the Employer agree that the existing students working in the store as of ratification 1999 shall be slotted in by seniority within their classification and maintain their right to receive a maximum of twenty (20) hours per week which shall not be subject to claim by Junior Clerks or nonstudents (new hires).
