Subbing. Anytime a class needs coverage the building administrator will start by utilizing casual substitutes within the building during their unassigned (conference and preparation periods) before any permanent teacher is assigned. Any teacher required to add additional students to their regularly assigned number of students because another teacher is absent due to illness or attendance at a meeting or conference will be compensated at .0008 times the district’s base salary per hour, prorated for fractions of the hour. Example: $36,830 base pay = $36,830 x .0008 = $29.47 per hour.
1. If the entire class is added for the entire day (6.25 hours), the teacher will be paid $19.63 x 6.25 hours or $122.69 for the day.
2. If the entire class is added for four (4) hours, the pay will be $29.47 x 4 hours or $117.88, etc.
3. If the class is divided into parts and the parts are added to more than one teacher, the teachers involved will receive equal shares of the prorated hourly rate ($29.47).
4. If a class is divided among three (3) teachers for the entire day, each teacher will receive one-third of the daily rate ($206.29) or $68.76.
5. If the same condition is in effect for a half day, the receiving teachers will receive one-third of half the daily rate ($103.15) or $34.38, etc.
Subbing. Subbing is a requested absence for one or more services of a program. Subbing may be allowed with a suitable replacement. Permission shall not be unreasonably denied.
Subbing. 1. If an aide is asked to sub for a position that includes more hours than said aide currently works, this aide will make an adequate attempt to find a sub for his or her regular job. If he/she fails, then the Employer will take the responsibility of finding a sub so that this aide can serve in the position that has a greater number of hours.
2. If an aide accepts a sub position within the unit, he/she must work the entire shift.
Subbing. Bargaining unit members will be asked to “sub” first before a non-bargaining unit employee, providing it does not interfere with their regular scheduled working hours.
Subbing. 11.2.1 Bargaining unit personnel subbing will be compensated at their current wage rate.
Subbing. 20 If the transportation department is notified at least two (2) days in advance of bereavement/ 21 personal/sick leave or an extra trip, the AM skill center and ELL runs maybe separated for that 22 day for the most senior driver who does not have forty (40) hours for the week. Subbing. 11.2.1 Bargaining unit personnel subbing or volunteering to perform non-contractual duties that support community education operations (i.e. registration) will be compensated at the Adult Education BA Step-1 hourly rate.
Subbing. Current language in the parties’ Professional Agreement, including “Buddy Teacher” shall be implemented in the event a substitute teacher is needed.
Subbing. Employees may serve as a substitute for an absent employee provided the substituting does not conflict with their regular routes or run. This provision shall not apply to special education runs where the Employer may assign a substitute at its discretion or in cases of emergency.
Subbing. When a guest teacher is needed to substitute for the regular teacher, the following procedures will be followed:
A. NORMAL OPERATING PROCEDURE (Administrative Assistant)
1. The Administrative Assistant will access the guest teacher-list and call available guest teachers
2. The Administrative Assistant will access the list of guest teachers in the building and identify whether the current guest teachers in the building are available to cover for any portion of the unfilled positions.
3. The Administrative Assistant will access the internal sub coverage list and inquire if any are available to cover for any portion of the unfilled positions.
4. The Administrative Assistant notifies the building administration of the remaining unfilled positions and identifies that there now exists an emergency.
B. EMERGENCY PROCEDURE (Building Administration) - When there are no guest teachers available to fill a certified classroom teacher role
1. Seek Buddy Teacher opportunities or combine classrooms within current mitigation standards - same grade level and same subject area (at Middle School).
2. Create “Zoom Rooms” - Supervised spaces where multiple in-person students from multiple classrooms (within the same building) are combined into one space within current mitigation standards where the teachers are remote teaching.
3. Inquire of any staff who are released from the classroom to deliver assessments, attending curriculum meetings or are attending professional learning (IN BUILDING or IN DISTRICT) regarding their availability to return to the classroom.
4. Inquire of any certified teacher teaching assistants if they are able to serve as a guest teacher.
5. Attempt the following options in this order to least impact students:
a. Building Administrator MUST have a conversation with the staff member and MUST inquire about commitments for the day. Building Administrators should consider the impact of the staff member’s schedule for the day. Building Administrators must keep a log of who they use in order to track the impact of the daily reassignment. ATA and Administration will monitor this process as needed. Building administrators will attempt the following options:
i. Any part-time teachers (paid at internal sub rate)
ii. Library Media Specialist (middle school)
iii. School Psychologist iv. Student Learning Coach v. Social Worker
vi. Literacy & Math Specialist/Interventionist
vii. English Language Resource Teachers (elementary level)
