Summer Positions. All summer employment shall be advertised and posted in the Administrative Bulletin. Employees interested must apply and possess the necessary ability to perform the duties. Representatives of either party will be allowed to raise additional concerns as to summer staffing procedures for various bargaining unit titles through the Labor Management Committee.
Summer Positions. Regular ten (10) month and/or part-time employees shall be given first option to fill all summer positions according to District wide seniority. Such posting shall be provided to all employees who have indicated an interest, via the summer notification form. (See appendix). A listing of the available summer positions, including rate of pay, shall be posted as soon as known.
Summer Positions. Ten (10) month School and Community Service Professionals will have the first opportunity to fill all summer positions involving School and Community Service Professional bargaining unit positions (except for those positions already held by twelve [12] month School and Community Service Professionals). Ten (10) month School and Community Service Professionals will be given a period of 7 -days to apply for positions that are posted. In the event that more than one ten (10) month School and Community Service Professional applies for the same position, (provided the employee is qualified for the summer position) the most senior ten (10) month School and Community Service Professional shall be assigned to the position. Once the 7-day period has elapsed, the district may open the unfilled positions up to other SPPS employees. Ten (10) month School and Community Service Professionals who work a summer position shall be paid at their regular daily rate of pay.
Summer Positions. Summer positions of one (1) week or longer shall be put up for bid five (5) working days prior to the last day of the school year and will be awarded by classification seniority. It is understood that Employees bidding on summer runs must be available for fulfilling the duty throughout the duration of the position. Special education drivers and aides shall have the first option to take special education runs. If the special education drivers and aides do not want the summer special education runs, it would then be filled by the bidding process. Substitutes for summer runs will be assigned in the following manner:
1. Substitutes for special education runs shall be taken from the rotation list by classification seniority. Preference shall be given to special education bargaining unit Employees, then to non- special education bargaining unit Employees, then to non- bargaining unit Employees.
2. Substitutes for other summer runs shall be taken from a rotation list by classification seniority of all interested bus drivers.
3. Employees who wish to substitute on summer runs must notify the transportation supervisor of their willingness to do so at least five (5) working days prior to the last day of the school year.
Summer Positions. Section 23.01 If a summer position arises from the holding of summer school, migrant classes, enrichment classes, head start programs, or the like, these openings must be advertised in accordance with Article XV. Special provisions in job descriptions required by Federal regulations to obtain Federal money grants may be used. The Association shall be made aware of these provisions and postings will stipulate special requirements in accordance with the specific grant. These positions shall be filled first from the list of applicants in the Unit regularly employed by the School District. Deadline for posting of such openings shall be no later than June 1st.
Summer Positions. These positions shall be handled as "Special assignment" time. These positions shall be granted to employees of the affected buildings first, then by seniority and expertise to applicants throughout the District. This will apply to employees desiring summer substitute work.
Summer Positions. Positions available for the summer months will be bid each year in the form of Online Bidding. The senior qualified employee bidding to work will be given the position. Employees working in the program area will be given first consideration for the position. For clarification purposes, program areas include EL, Kids Club, Special Education and, in some cases, positions such as Lunchroom/Recess.
1. The online bidding will take place in mid-April. The specific date will be included on the Paraprofessional Staffing Timeline which is sent to employees in March. Subd. 2. Five calendar days prior to the online bidding, an e-mail will be sent to all paras summarizing the postings available for summer. All positions known at the time of the e-mail will be included. Paras will have five (5) calendar days to review the postings. At the conclusion of the five (5) calendar days, the positions will be posted for online bidding for a period of three (3) calendar days.
Summer Positions a. Teachers may apply for transfer to a vacancy that may occur, or a new position that may be created, from July 1 to the first workday of that school year. Teachers who wish to be informed of any such new positions or vacancies shall notify, in writing, the Superintendent of their interest no later than the last day of school. Such notification shall include their summer address.
b. A teacher transferred to a Summer Position or Vacancy on the basis of a written request submitted under paragraph (b) above will be given notice of the transfer by registered mail at the address of the teacher on file in the Superintendent’s office promptly after the transfer is authorized, and the teacher is obligated to accept the Summer Position or Vacancy. Notice is deemed to be given when mailed.
Summer Positions. 1. Summer wages shall be at the Board approved rate. Summer positions are not Bargaining Unit work and will not replace Bargaining Unit work.
2. Summer positions will be posted for Bid in accordance with Section A. The posting shall contain the approximate number of openings and will be assigned as necessary. 50% of the Summer openings shall be filled with Bargaining Unit members.
3. If the number of bids from qualified and available Bargaining Unit members exceeds the number of posted positions, system seniority shall apply. Non- Bargaining Unit members hours shall not exceed 500 hours as defined by Law.
4. Dismissal from a Summer position shall not be subject to the Grievance procedure.
Summer Positions. An available summer position will be offered first to the employee regularly holding the position or a similar position, next to other Education Support Specialists who regularly hold the same type position on a seniority basis, then the senior qualified applicant from the bargaining unit. Should a summer position not be able to be filled by this procedure, the position may be filled by an outside applicant. For casual employment, the District will offer the task first to the individual who holds that job in the regular school year. If the employee is unable to work within five (5) days of the request, the District reserves the right to hire someone else to perform the service required.
