- TEACHER ASSISTANCE. The BOARD acknowledges that reasonable adult/student ratios must be maintained in order to provide quality education. Paraprofessionals shall be provided where an evaluation by the ADMINISTRATION indicates a need. Recommendations for such need may be made by the teaching staff. Considerations for this evaluation shall include, but not be limited to: class size, educational objectives, subject matter, and student needs.

- TEACHER ASSISTANCE. A. The District and Association agree that participation in the State sponsored Teacher Assistance Program would be beneficial for beginning, experienced, and mentor teachers. Both the District and Association wish to encourage and support those staff interested in participating as mentor, beginning, or experienced teachers share a mutual interest in providing differentiated and flexible sources of support for teachers new to Xxxxxxx Public Schools. This support shall include an induction and mentoring component with the following elements. To participate in this program the District and Association In-Service Professional Education Committee will review, develop and oversee the implementation of the Teacher Assistance Program each year prior to July 1. This will be accomplished within the following guidelines: 1. Participation by mentor, beginning, or experienced teachers is voluntary. Prior to the first day of work, four (4) days will be provided to all new employees for the purpose of induction. These days will be divided as follows: a. Three (3) days for EPS orientation, human resources basic needs, district professional learning and curriculum content, and meeting with an assigned mentor. b. One (1) day for individually-directed time for set-up of the employee’s learning space, of which up to two (2) hours will be used for meeting with their principal/evaluator, reviewing their assignment, and participating in a building orientation. The employee’s workstation, furniture (student and teacher), supplies, and curriculum will be available on this day, and if not, a list of missing items will be submitted to the principal who will communicate a timeline for delivery. This day shall be scheduled second in any series of days provided. c. If the District needs to add or reduce the number of induction days, the Association shall be notified by June 30 of the previous school year. 2. The committee will develop appropriate selection criteria. A survey will be conducted of new hires to determine a menu of professional development offerings for the year. From this menu, teachers new to Xxxxxxx may attend up to five (5) trainings of two (2) hours in length after school throughout the year and offered clock hours and paid at their per diem rate. New teachers will select trainings based on need and relevance. Teachers new to the profession may continue attending for their second and third year and offered clock hours. 3. - TEACHER ASSISTANCE. 29.1 The District recognizes that classroom teachers may require the assistance of certain specialists in order to carry out their duties effectively. The District therefore agrees that to the extent the District deems it advisable the services of guidance personnel, reading specialists, speech therapists and other specialists will be retained to perform specialists' functions. 29.2 The District may, but is not required to, use teacher aides or paraprofessionals. In the event that such aides are used and they do constitute a bargaining unit recognized under Chapter 150E, (1) the nature and extent of the duties to be performed by each teacher aide or paraprofessional shall be determined by agreement between such teacher aide or paraprofessional bargaining unit and the District. Nothing in this agreement or in work practice shall be construed as limiting the District's right to establish, maintain or delete any teacher aide or paraprofessional position or the assignment, hours of work, or duties of any teacher aide or paraprofessional, provided always the District shall after implementation bargain any resulting impact on teachers with Association, upon Association demand to bargain within 30 days of such implementation. An employee new to the profession, at his/her option, shall be granted up to three (3) days released time to be scheduled at the employee’s discretion for individual planning, observations or work with the employee’s mentor.

A teacher identified as a provisional status employee in accordance with the state statute shall not have his/her contract non-renewed unless first receiving notice and assistance in accordance with the evaluation provisions of Article 10.00. A teacher who has completed at least one full continuous school year (starting no later than October 1) with the Xxxxxxx School District on a non-continuing contract shall not be considered a provisional status employee in the Xxxxxxx School District for more than one school year. 4. Where courses are required and certified by the appointing authority as essential to current job performance, such appointing authority shall grant 100% reimbursement for tuition, required fees and required study materials. Section 3. At the request of an employee, an Individual Development Plan shall be established. Any employee making the request shall be provided with paid time to work with their Supervisor or Human Resources to develop a training plan for career development within Hennepin County. Human Resources will be a source of career information, and postings, in which the employee may have an interest. Time allotted for this activity and the training plan adopted shall be subject to mutual agreement of the Employee and Supervisor.

  • Emergency Assistance Both Parties shall exercise due diligence to avoid or mitigate an Emergency to the extent practical in accordance with applicable requirements imposed by the Standards Authority or contained in the PJM Tariffs and NYISO Tariffs. In avoiding or mitigating an Emergency, both Parties shall strive to allow for commercial remedies, but if commercial remedies are not successful or practical, the Parties agree to be the suppliers of last resort to maintain reliability on the system. For each hour during which Emergency conditions exist in a Party’s Balancing Authority Area, that Party (while still ensuring operations within applicable Reliability Standards) shall determine what commercial remedies are available and make use of those that are practical and needed to avoid or mitigate the Emergency before any Emergency Energy is scheduled in that hour.

  • Legal Assistance The Board shall give full support including legal and other assistance for any assault upon the employee while properly acting in the discharge of his/her duties.

  • Directory Assistance 72.1 The Parties acknowledge that CenturyLink is not a Directory Assistance (DA) provider. CenturyLink provides directory listings information for its subscribers to third party DA providers to be included in the national and local databases used by such third party providers. The Parties agree that to the extent the DA provider contracted by CLEC for DA services to CLEC’s subscribers also populates the national DA database, then CLEC’s DA listings have been made available to CenturyLink’s subscribers and no further effort is needed by either Party. If for any reason, CLEC desires that CenturyLink act as a middleman conduit for the placement of CLEC’s DA listings in the DA database(s), then CenturyLink shall provide such compensable DA listings service pursuant to separate written terms and conditions between CenturyLink and CLEC which will be attached to this Agreement as an Amendment.

  • Tuition Assistance Bargaining unit employees can enroll in university or college, vocational technical school or extension courses. The course may be by correspondence or attendance at classes during non-working hours or during working hours with approval of the Agency Head and/or his/her Designee. Where practicable, in relation to work requirements, the Employer shall be liberal with the approval of requests for accrued/unused vacation leave, flex-time scheduling, compensatory time, or leave without pay for the purpose of enabling employees to attend classes conducted during an employee's regularly scheduled work hours.

  • Mutual Assistance The Parties will do all things reasonably necessary or appropriate to carry out the terms and provisions of this Agreement and to aid and assist each other in carrying out such terms and provisions.
