Temporary or Seasonal. LAYOFFS If, in the judgment of the University, a curtailment of operations or reduction in force is seasonal or temporary in nature, it may advise workers affected by this decision that they are to be placed on leave without salary status for a period not to exceed 4 months.‌ A. Temporary or Seasonal. In the event a temporary or seasonal employee is hired as a regular full-time or regular part-time employee, such individual shall serve the full probationary period.

Exceptions to this policy shall be mutually agreed upon in writing by the City and the Union. 28.3 Temporary or seasonal workers will not be allowed to work scheduled overtime until regular full or half-time employees within that work unit have had the opportunity to work the overtime. The Employer will make a good faith effort to notify regular employees of overtime opportunities before such work is offered to temporary workers. This will not preclude temporary or seasonal workers from working overtime which extends beyond the end of their shift or emergency situations. 28.4 The Employer will make all records of temporary or seasonal workers, the date they started, and total hours worked, available to the Union upon request.

These applications will be considered by the Corporation in the event no qualified permanent employee posts for the job vacancy or change. It is agreed that the posting of any Temporary or Seasonal employee to any permanent employee classification, shall at all times, be at the sole discretion of the Corporation provided it is in conformity with article 12.8.
