Use of Sick. Leave When sick leave is used, it shall be deducted from the member’s credit on the basis of one (1) hour for every one (1) hour of absence from previously scheduled work. Sick leave with pay may be granted only upon the approval of the Chief of Police for the following reasons:
Use of Sick. Emergency Leave for an emergency caused by family illness, where no reasonable alternative is available, shall be subject to the conditions set forth in 6.E.2 above.
Use of Sick. Leave in Lieu of Bereavement Leave - An employee eligible for 8 leave who has exhausted his/her bereavement leave, will be entitled to use sick leave in the amount of 9 three (3) working days for each instance when death occurs to a member of the employee’s 10 immediate family.

Use of Sick leave allotment shall be in accordance with the applicable requirements and Provincial and Federal statutes and regulations in force during the term of this Agreement.
Use of Sick. Emergency Leave shall be reported to the employee's supervisor prior to the start of the work shift, when possible, and will become effective upon the first day of absence.
