Vacancy Notice. When a vacancy occurs, each eligible Faculty Member may be sent a vacancy notice, which shall include the number of faculty having higher priority for recall for that vacancy.

Vacancy Notice. Any vacancy or new position that occurs during the school year or during the summer vacation shall be publicized internally. Such vacancy is to be posted as soon as administration determines that a vacancy exists and shall include the description and location of the position as well as the credential requirements. In the event that no unit members are appropriately credentialed for the opening, or they are designated as “hard-to-fill” subjects (Math, ELA, Science, Special Education), the District may advertise externally at the same time.
Vacancy Notice a. Whenever a teacher vacancy exists or a new position is created the Superintendent or his/her assignee shall post notice of the vacancy within three (3) working days. Posting shall be made in each office and to each teacher (through voice mail, email or in mailboxes) and a copy given to the Association President. Vacancies occurring over the summer shall be communicated to the Association President in a timely manner. b. Teachers with proper certification who are interested in such vacancies shall apply to the Superintendent in writing within five (5) working days of the date of posting. Except in an emergency, the Board shall make no assignment to such posted vacancy during the ten (10) working days following the initial posting. c. Faculty members will be sought and considered prior to making extracurricular assignments. Extra compensation shall be in accordance with Appendix C and D. d. Any extracurricular vacancy or newly created position will be posted as stated in 3.11a.

Any employee shall be eligible to apply in writing for said vacancy or new job, unless a current interview list is present. If a current interview list is present, the School District may utilize said list in lieu of posting if the vacancy occurs in the job for which the interview list was established. Nothing herein shall, however, prevent the School District from considering application for said positions of others not presently employees of the School District. Current employees not selected will be provided the reason(s) in a conference with the responsible administrator at the employee’s request. The employee may bring a representative of the exclusive representative to this conference. A position vacancy shall exist when there are enough hours for a position to be included in the bargaining unit by class and covered by this Agreement as defined in ARTICLE III, Section 2. In addition, any increase in hours of more than 2 hours per day in a position shall be posted.
