First Year Employees Sample Clauses
First Year Employees. Notwithstanding Section A1 above, each first-year teacher will be credited with six (6) days of sick leave effective after the first day of actual service during his/her first teaching year. (This represents the accruable days for September through December of that first year.) For the remainder of the first year, said first-year employees will accrue sick leave at the rate of 1½ days per month to a maximum of fifteen (15) days.
First Year Employees. First year employees shall begin with a bank of two (2) days and accrue sick leave at the rate of one and one quarter working days at the end of each month of employment.

9.1.5.1.2. If the employee’s service is terminated, recomputation will be made, allowing one (1) day for each month during which service was performed. If the employee has used more than the entitlement, the overpayment shall be deducted from the balance of salary owed the employee.

During their first calendar year of employment, new employees shall earn vacation at the rate of one-half (1/2) day per full month of employment up to November 1st, not to exceed five (5) work days. (Example: An employee who starts work on August 1, 1980 is entitled to one and one-half (1-1/2) days’ vacation in the calendar year 1980). Thereafter, time in service on or before December 31st of each year shall be used as the basis for computing the length of vacation to which each employee is entitled. First-year employees must work one (1) full year from their date of hire before they are entitled to their full vacation accrual. (Example: An employee who starts work on August 1, 1980 would be on the payroll as of December 31, 1980 and would therefore be entitled to a full vacation allotment for 1981, provided the employee remained on the payroll until August 1, 1981, one (1) full year after date of hire). (1) year from their date of hire shall receive prorated vacation based on the number of full months worked from the previous December 31st, which number shall be placed as the numerator in a fraction whose denominator is the number twelve (12). Employees who terminate or are terminated before the completion of their probationary period are not eligible for the payment of earned vacation.

New Teacher Orientation and New Teacher Induction shall be implemented according to the guidelines provided by PDE and the District’s Comprehensive Plan for all Members new to the District. Induction may be differentiated for members who are new to the profession and those who have evidence of completing a PDE approved induction program elsewhere.
1. New Teacher Orientation: Members new to the District, regardless of years of service or tenure status, are required to attend New Teacher Orientation which occurs during the summer in the weeks prior to the start of the school year. New Teacher Orientation (August) and New Teacher Academy (Induction Program throughout school year) shall consist of no more than twenty-five (25) hours of meetings during the first year of induction and no more than seven (7) hours of meetings during the second year of induction. Members who miss orientation will be required to make it up the following summer.
